West Lancashire Coastal Plain

Christ the King Catholic High School and 6th Form College, is a large Roman Catholic secondary school located in Birkdale, Southport. The school was originally built to be temporary, however it is still standing after over fifty years and has approximately 1200 pupils ranging from 11 to 18 years old. CTK is larger than the average secondary school. The proportion of students known to be eligible for free school meals is below the national average and the number of students from minority ethnic groups is higher than the average highschool in the United Kingdom but few students speak English as an additional language.

Heathey Lane Halt was a railway station in the village of Scarisbrick, Lancashire. The station opened on 1 March 1907 as a halt on the Liverpool, Southport and Preston Junction Railway, and consisted of simple cinder based platforms at track level. It was situated to the north of the B5243 road bridge at Heathey Lane, to which it was connected by wooden steps. The station closed to passengers on 26 September 1938, though the line remained open for goods traffic until 21 January 1952. The track was left in place until 1964 for the storage of excursion stock.

Kew is a suburb and ward of Southport, a seaside town in Sefton, Merseyside, England. It makes up the southeastern edge of the town, bordering Scarisbrick in West Lancashire. It is a middle class area of mostly modern development, and one of Southport's smallest suburbs.

Dune FM was an Independent Local Radio station serving Southport, Sefton and surrounding areas between 1997 and 2012.

Shirdley Hill was a railway station in the village of Shirdley Hill, Lancashire, on the Liverpool, Southport and Preston Junction Railway. Situated on Renacres Lane, the station opened on 1 November 1887 and was the only station on the Barton Branch to have a level crossing instead of a road bridge. The "Altcar Bob" service operated through Shirdley Hill from July 1906. The station closed to passengers on 26 September 1938, though the line remained open for goods traffic until 21 January 1952. Tracks from Butts Lane Halt to Shirdley Hill were left in place until 1964 for the storage of excursion coaches. Nothing remains of the station, with the site now occupied by a road named Shaws Garth, just off Renacres Lane. The road is named in memory of the last stationmaster, Thomas Shaw, and a plaque marks the location of the station. The plaque reads: "Site of Shirdley Hill Railway Station on the Southport-Downholland Branch Line. Closed to passengers 1938 and to goods traffic 1952. Stationmaster Thomas Shaw."

The Lifeboat Memorial, Southport, occupies a central position in Southport Cemetery, Cemetery Road, Southport, Merseyside, England. It commemorates the death of 27 lifeboatmen from Southport and St Annes who were lost in the attempt to rescue the crew of the German barque Mexico that had been driven into a sandbank in a gale in 1886. The memorial is in the form of a tomb chest on a tall plinth with carving and inscribed panels. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building.

Shirdley Hill is a small village in the civil parish of Halsall, Lancashire, England, and is situated on the West Lancashire Coastal Plain. It is reached by B roads from either the A5147 or the A570. An £80,000 redevelopment of the village green, completed in 2009, provided the green with a new pond, benches and a flower bed.Shirdley Hill railway station was on the Liverpool, Southport and Preston Junction Railway, though the station closed in 1938, and the track was lifted in 1964. A plaque on the corner of Shaws Garth marks the site.In 2013, the Village installed an Automated Defibrillator near the Bus Stop. Shirdley Hill gave its name to "Shirdley Hill Sand" which was used in a number of industrial processes, particularly glassmaking.

Southport and Formby District General Hospital is an acute hospital at Kew in Southport, Merseyside. It is managed by the Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

St John's Church is in St John's Road, Birkdale, Southport, Merseyside, England. It is an active Anglican parish church in the deanery of North Meols, the archdeaconry of Warrington, and the diocese of Liverpool. The church is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building.

Southport General Infirmary was a Victorian hospital that was Southport's first major hospital. The first construction of the building started in October 1892, with the first patients being seen at the hospital in September 1895.

The Church of St Teresa of Avila in Everton Road, Birkdale, Southport, Sefton, Merseyside, England, is an active Roman Catholic church in the diocese of Liverpool. It was built in 1897–98 and designed by the architectural partnership of James Sinnott, Bernard Sinnott & Daniel Powell. The church, together with its attached presbytery, is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building.

St Peter's Church is in St Peter's Road, Birkdale, Southport, Sefton, Merseyside, England, and is an active Anglican parish church in the diocese of Liverpool. Its building started in 1870, and additions were made in 1886–87 and in 1907. The church is in Gothic Revival style, and it is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building.
