Ottendorf is a municipality in the district of Rendsburg-Eckernförde, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany.

The Schifffahrtmedizinisches Institut der Marine (SchiffMedInstM) is a naval medical institute of the German Navy in Kronshagen. It is the central specialist facility for all medical officers in the German Navy. In addition to the marine medical competence for the fleet, diving medicine also provides services for the entire Bundeswehr. The institute is scheduled to move into a new building on the grounds of the German Armed Forces Hospital in Hamburg in 2023.

Kronshagen is a municipality in the district of Rendsburg-Eckernförde, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is situated approximately 23 km southeast of Eckernförde, and 3 km west of Kiel.

Delta radio has been a focal point for numerous northern German, and even Scandinavian bands to get their footing in the Central European market (e.g. One Fine Day, H-Blockx, and Dúné). Delta radio focuses on rock music and is a sponsor station of Indiecator.com a site for new and upcoming bands in the region. Aside from the music that the station plays, the station also continues to make its listeners a top priority, e.g. the delta radio morning show was at times titled "Mit Danny, Sarah, und euch" [With Danny, Sarah, and you]. Delta Radio however is expanding its listenership through playing some traditional pop music (known as charts) as it is one of few privately owned and operated radio station in Germany without government subsidies or ownership like the public broadcasters of NDR or SWR. The radio DJs will be replaced occasionally because several of them are students of the University of Kiel and other schools of higher education. Except for Sarah, Chris and Ralle they serve as part-time employees. DJ Ralle has been working for delta radio since the station was founded in 1993.Delta radio is also a sponsor of the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes American Football team which is a regular competitor for the German American Football Championship.

The Danish Wahld (German: Dänischer Wohld, Danish: Jernved) is a peninsula in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is located between Eckernförde Bay in the north and Kiel Fjord in the south. The Amt of "Dänischer Wohld" in the district of Rendsburg-Eckernförde is named after the peninsula, but only encompasses a central part of the region. The Danish Wahld formed a border forest between German and Danish settlements in the Middle Ages with only a few Jute settlements. After 1260 the Danish Wahld was pledged by the Danish king to the north German nobility and German colonists settled in the region. The Danish Wahld was in the Middle Ages part of Denmark and after 1200 of the Danish Duchy of Schleswig, where it formed its own goods district. After the Second Schleswig War 1864 the region came to Prussia. The southern Danish Wahld is bordered by the Kiel Canal and remnants of the Eider Canal. It predominantly was composed of the older Eckernförde district, now within Rendsburg-Eckernförde. The main settlement of the region is Gettorf. Individual settlements in the southeast, such as Schilksee, Holtenau, and Friedrichsort, now are part of the city of Kiel.

The Leibniz Institute for Science and Mathematics Education at Kiel University (IPN; German: Leibniz-Institut für die Pädagogik der Naturwissenschaften und Mathematik), previously known as the Leibniz Institute for Science Education, is a scientific institute in the field of Education Research as well as the Didactic method of Natural science in Germany. It is a member of the Leibniz Association and located in Kiel, Germany. Although it is not part of Kiel University, the two maintain a strong relationship.The institute was founded in 1966 by physicist Karl Hecht (with participation of Werner Krobel), who remained director until 1971.

Holstein-Stadion is a stadium in the port city of Kiel in Northern Germany. It is the home of football club Holstein Kiel, who currently play in Germany's 2. Bundesliga.2005, the DFB ruled that the old stadium did not meet the body's minimal stadium requirements, claiming the stadium was no longer fit for football and was in desperate need of a substantial makeover. Failure to make the required upgrades would rule the club ineligible to play in the 2. Bundesliga or potentially result in the DFB revoking Holstein Kiel's license entirely. 2006 the city government and team officials subsequently developed a plan to provide 1.6 million Euros towards the renovation of the stadium.

Kieler Sportvereinigung Holstein von 1900 e.V., simply as KSV Holstein or Kieler SV Holstein, commonly known as Holstein Kiel (German pronunciation: [ˌhɔlʃtaɪn ˈkiːl] (listen)), is a German association football and sports club based in the city of Kiel, Schleswig-Holstein. From the 1900s through the 1960s the club was one of the most dominant sides in northern Germany. Holstein appeared regularly in the national playoffs, capturing their most important title, the German football championship in 1912, and finishing as vice-champions in 1910 and 1930. Holstein also won six regional titles and finished as runners-up another nine times. They remained a first-division side until the formation of the Bundesliga in 1963.

Kiel University, officially the Christian-Albrecht University of Kiel, (German: Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel, abbreviated CAU, known informally as Christiana Albertina) is a public research university in the city of Kiel, Germany. The Cluster of Excellence The Future Ocean, which was established in cooperation with the GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel in 2006, is internationally recognized. The second Cluster of Excellence "Inflammation at Interfaces" deals with chronic inflammatory diseases. The Kiel Institute for the World Economy is also affiliated with Kiel University. The university has a great reputation for its focus on public international law. The oldest public international law institution in Germany and Europe – the Walther Schuecking Institute for International Law – is based in Kiel.

The Botanischer Garten der Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel (8 hectares), or less formally the Botanischer Garten Kiel, is a botanical garden and arboretum maintained by the University of Kiel. It is located at Am Botanischen Garten 1, Kiel, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, and open daily.
