Kronshagen is a municipality in the district of Rendsburg-Eckernförde, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is situated approximately 23 km southeast of Eckernförde, and 3 km west of Kiel.

delta radio is a radio station from Kiel, Germany. It is a branch of Mach3 Broadcasting along with Radio Schleswig-Holstein (RS-H) and Radio Nora (all of Kiel). The French Lagardère Group holds shares in the company. Delta radio prides itself for its different, and alternative image, as its slogan "Klingt anders" (lit.: sounds different) sums up. Delta radio has been a focal point for numerous northern German, and even Scandinavian bands to get their footing in the Central European market (e.g. One Fine Day, H-Blockx, and Dúné). Aside from the music that the station plays, the station also continues to make its listeners a top priority, e.g. the delta radio morning show was at times titled "Mit Danny, Sarah, und euch" [With Danny, Sarah, and you]. Delta Radio however is expanding its listenership through playing some traditional pop music (known as charts) as it is one of few privately owned and operated radio station in Germany without government subsidies or ownership like the public broadcasters of NDR or SWR. The radio DJs will be replaced occasionally because several of them are students of the University of Kiel and other schools of higher education. Except for Sarah, Chris and Ralle they serve as part-time employees. DJ Ralle has been working for delta radio since the station was founded in 1993.Delta radio is also a sponsor of the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes American Football team which is a regular competitor for the German American Football Championship.

The Leibniz Institute for Science and Mathematics Education at Kiel University (IPN; German: Leibniz-Institut für die Pädagogik der Naturwissenschaften und Mathematik), previously known as the Leibniz Institute for Science Education, is a scientific institute in the field of Education Research as well as the Didactic method of Natural science in Germany. It is a member of the Leibniz Association and located in Kiel, Germany. Although it is not part of Kiel University, the two maintain a strong relationship.The institute was founded in 1966 by physicist Karl Hecht (with participation of Werner Krobel), who remained director until 1971.

Kiel University, officially the Christian-Albrecht University of Kiel, (German: Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel, abbreviated CAU, known informally as Christiana Albertina) is a public research university in the city of Kiel, Germany. It was founded in 1665 as the Academia Holsatorum Chiloniensis by Christian Albert, Duke of Holstein-Gottorp and has approximately 27,000 students today. It is the largest, oldest, and most prestigious university in the state of Schleswig-Holstein. Until 1866, it was not only the northernmost university in Germany but at the same time the 2nd largest university of Denmark. Faculty, alumni, and researchers of Kiel University have won 12 Nobel Prizes. Kiel University has been a member of the German Universities Excellence Initiative since 2006. The Cluster of Excellence The Future Ocean, which was established in cooperation with the GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel in 2006, is internationally recognized. The second Cluster of Excellence "Inflammation at Interfaces" deals with chronic inflammatory diseases. The Kiel Institute for the World Economy is also affiliated with Kiel University. The university has a great reputation for its focus on public international law. The oldest public international law institution in Germany and Europe – the Walther Schuecking Institute for International Law – is based in Kiel.

The Botanischer Garten der Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel (8 hectares), or less formally the Botanischer Garten Kiel, is a botanical garden and arboretum maintained by the University of Kiel. It is located at Am Botanischen Garten 1, Kiel, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, and open daily.

Kiel-Hassee CITTI PARK station is a station in the Kiel district Hassee in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein. It is on the Kiel–Flensburg and the Husum–Kiel railways. It is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 6 station. The station was reactivated in 2007 under a so-called public-private partnership project in passenger transport. The cost was contributed in one-third shares by the state of Schleswig-Holstein, the city of Kiel and the CITTI PARK shopping centre.

The Ferdinand Tönnies Society (Ferdinand-Tönnies-Gesellschaft e. V., FTG) was founded in 1956 in Kiel, Germany. Its main purpose is to further sociological research, especially on Ferdinand Tönnies (1855–1936), the founder of German sociology.

Holstein-Stadion is a stadium in the port city of Kiel in Northern Germany. It is the home of football club Holstein Kiel, who currently play in Germany's 2. Bundesliga.2005, the DFB ruled that the old stadium did not meet the body's minimal stadium requirements, claiming the stadium was no longer fit for football and was in desperate need of a substantial makeover. Failure to make the required upgrades would rule the club ineligible to play in the 2. Bundesliga or potentially result in the DFB revoking Holstein Kiel's license entirely. 2006 the city government and team officials subsequently developed a plan to provide 1.6 million Euros towards the renovation of the stadium.

Kieler Sportvereinigung Holstein von 1900 e.V., simply as KSV Holstein or Kieler SV Holstein, commonly known as Holstein Kiel (German pronunciation: [ˌhɔlʃtaɪn ˈkiːl] (listen)), is a German association football and sports club based in the city of Kiel, Schleswig-Holstein. From the 1900s through the 1960s the club was one of the most dominant sides in northern Germany. Holstein appeared regularly in the national playoffs, capturing their most important title, the German football championship in 1912, and finishing as vice-champions in 1910 and 1930. Holstein also won six regional titles and finished as runners-up another nine times. They remained a first-division side until the formation of the Bundesliga in 1963.

The Walther Schücking Institute of International Law at the University of Kiel was founded in 1914 as the Institut für Internationales Recht. It is the oldest university institute for public international law in Germany. The institute ranks among the top three international law institutes within Germany and has a great reputation throughout Europe.The Institute was renamed in 1995 in honor of Walther Schücking, professor of international law at the University of Kiel from 1926-1933 and the first German judge at the Permanent Court of International Justice in The Hague from 1930-1935.
