Meigem

Nevele (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈneːvələ]) is a village and former municipality located in the Belgian province of East Flanders. The municipality comprises the towns of Hansbeke, Landegem, Merendree, Nevele proper, Poesele and Vosselare. In 2018, the municipality of Nevele had a total population of 12,179. The total area is 51.89 km².Effective 1 January 2019, the municipality was merged into Deinze.

Bachte-Maria-Leerne is a sub-municipality of Deinze in the Belgian province of East Flanders. It was an independent municipality until the municipal reorganization of 1977. The sub-municipality is located along the Lys river, the closed river branch Oude Leie and the Schipdonk Canal. Bachte-Maria-Leerne was founded in 1823 by merging the villages and parishes of Bachte and Sint-Maria-Leerne. In March 1919, the notorious Vanhoe-Verstuyft gang stormed a farm in Bachte-Maria-Leerne.

Deinze (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈdɛi̯nzə] ) is a city and a municipality in the Belgian province of East Flanders. It comprises the city of Deinze, and the towns of Astene, Bachte-Maria-Leerne, Gottem, Grammene, Hansbeke, Landegem, Meigem, Merendree, Nevele, Petegem-aan-de-Leie, Poesele, Sint-Martens-Leerne, Vinkt, Vosselare, Wontergem, and Zeveren. On 1 January 2022, Deinze had a population of 44,315. The municipality's total area is 128.03 km2 (49 sq mi), giving a population density of 342 inhabitants per km². On 1 January 2019, the municipality of Nevele was merged into Deinze.

The Vinkt massacre (Dutch: Bloedbad van Vinkt) was a war crime committed by German soldiers in the villages of Vinkt and Meighem in East Flanders on 26–28 May 1940 during the Battle of the Lys. Between 86 and 140 civilians were deliberately killed by Wehrmacht troops from the 377th Infantry Regiment of the 225th Infantry Division, supposedly in retaliation for the Belgian Army's resistance in the village.

Museum van Deinze en de Leiestreek (Dutch for 'Museum of Deinze and the Leie region'), also known as mudel, is a museum of fine arts and folklore located in the city of Deinze, Belgium. The permanent exhibition displays exclusively artworks produced by artists who worked or lived in the region from about 1879 to today as well as folkloristic objects.

Astene is a village and deelgemeente (sub-municipality) in the municipality of Deinze in the Belgian province of East Flanders. The village is located along the Leie River and about 13 kilometres (8.1 mi) south-west of Ghent.

Sint-Martens-Leerne is a village in the Belgian province of East Flanders and is a submunicipality of Deinze. It was an independent municipality until the municipal reorganization of 1977. Sint-Martens-Leerne is located on the Lys river. It has a surface area of 378 ha. The eastern part belongs to the Leie valley and the western (largest) part to Zandig Vlaanderen. The village centre is fused with that of Sint-Maria-Leerne, in the sub-municipality of Bachte-Maria-Leerne. The two churches are only 600 metres apart. The village had 820 inhabitants in 1981. The oldest mention of Sint-Martens-Leerne is from 1192 as Lederna and later in 1206 by Sancti Martini as Lederne. The lordship belonged to the lords of Nevele. Other lordships at Sint-Martens-Leerne were those of Hansbeke, Dentergem and Gampelare. In the 14th-century, several important farms were already mentioned. The history of the church goes back to 1206, and was then in the possession of the chapter of Tournai.

Ooidonk Castle (Dutch: Kasteel Ooidonk) is a castle in the city of Deinze, East Flanders, Belgium. The castle is the residence of the current Count t'Kint de Roodenbeke. Ooidonk Castle is situated at an altitude of 11 meters.

Petegem-aan-de-Leie is a village in the Belgian province of East Flanders and a borough of Deinze. Petegem-aan-de-Leie is located on the south bank of the river Leie (Lys). The village today forms a single urban core with that of Deinze itself, which is located just across the river.

Hansbeke is a village and deelgemeente (sub-municipality) in the municipality of Deinze in the Belgian province of East Flanders. The village is located about 13 kilometres (8.1 mi) west of Ghent.

Deurle is part of the municipality of Sint-Martens-Latem located in the Flemish part of Belgium. Deurle is a picturesque small village near the borders of the river Lys and was added to Sint-Martens-Latem in 1977. Many well-known Flemish artists have lived in this village nested near a forest. Today, it is one of the best residential areas around Gent (Ghent), also counting numerous restaurants and bistros. The village was first mentioned in 1114 as Durle, but artefacts from the Roman era have been discovered.

Merendree is a village in the Belgian province of East Flanders and is a submunicipality of Deinze. It was an independent municipality until the municipal reorganization of 1977. The village is located in the south of Meetjesland, at the intersection of the Gent-Brugge Canal and the Schipdonk Canal. The earliest written mention of the village is from the year 722 as Merendra. In 2024, the remains of a Roman vicus were found.
