Balls Head Reserve

MV Baragoola was a ferry formerly operated by the Port Jackson & Manly Steamship Company and its successors on the Manly service. The sixth and final of the Binngarra-type Manly ferries, the vessel entered service in 1922. Built with a triple-expansion steam engine, she was converted to diesel-electric propulsion in 1961. Since its decommissioning as a ferry in 1983, the vessel had a number of owners who attempted to find a new role and restore it. In 2003, it was laid up at Balls Head Bay on the north side of Sydney Harbour as attempts to restore the vessel continued. However, in January 2022, she sank at her mooring alongside the Balls Head Coal Loader, with the decision then made that the vessel would be scrapped. Baragoola is an Australian Aboriginal word for "flood tide".

MV Cape Don is a museum and training ship and former research vessel and lighthouse tender in Waverton, New South Wales, Australia. She is the only remaining Australian lighthouse supply ship and is listed on the Australian Register of Historic Vessels. Built and launched by the State Dockyard at Newcastle, New South Wales in 1962 for the Commonwealth Lighthouse Service, she serviced the lighthouses, lightships and buoys of the Australian coast from 1963 to 1990. She was also used as a research vessel, and was involved in numerous high-profile scientific expeditions including the salvage of two of HMS Investigator's anchors. Cape Don is being restored by the MV Cape Don Society, which is overseen by the Sea Heritage Foundation. She is berthed at the former coal loading wharf in Balls Head Bay, Waverton, New South Wales.

HMAS Waterhen is a Royal Australian Navy (RAN) base located in Waverton on Sydney's lower north shore, within Sydney Harbour, in New South Wales, Australia. Constructed on the site of a quarry used to expand Garden Island in the 1930s, the location was used during World War II as a boom net maintenance and storage area. In 1962, the area was commissioned as a base of the RAN, and became home to the RAN's mine warfare forces. Waterhen was the first small-ship base established by the RAN, and from 1969 to 1979 was also responsible for the RAN's patrol boat forces.

Goat Island is a heritage-listed island located in Port Jackson, in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Located north-west of the Sydney central business district, Goat Island is about 300m wide in a north/south direction and 180m long in an east/west direction; and covers an area of 5.4 hectares (13 acres). Goat Island lies off the shores of the Sydney suburbs of Balmain and Millers Point, at the junction of Darling Harbour with the main channel of Sydney Harbour. The island is a former gunpowder storage, arsenal, bacteriology station, shipyard, powder magazine, maintenance facility and accommodation and now interpretation centre and education facility. Over the years Goat Island has served as a quarry, convict stockade, explosives store, police station, fire station, boatyard and film set. Today the island forms part of the Sydney Harbour National Park. The built facilities on the island were designed by Edmund Blacket and Alexander Dawson and built from 1826 to 1994. Goat Island is also known as Memel or Me-Mel, meaning the eye. The property is owned by the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage, an agency of the Government of New South Wales. It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999.

The Division of East Sydney was an Australian Electoral Division in New South Wales. The division was created in 1900 and was one of the original 75 divisions contested at the first federal election. It was abolished in 1969. It was named for the suburb of East Sydney. It was located in the inner eastern suburbs of Sydney, including Darlinghurst, Paddington, Redfern, Surry Hills and Waverley. From 1901 to 1955 the division included Lord Howe Island. After 1910 East Sydney was usually a safe seat for the Australian Labor Party. In the 1930s it was a stronghold of Lang Labor. Its most prominent members were Sir George Reid, who was Prime Minister of Australia in 1904-05, and Eddie Ward, a long-serving Labor member and Cabinet minister.

Balls Head Bay, formerly known as Oyster Cove, Wollstonecraft Bay, Sugarworks Bay, Powder Works Bay and Kerosene Bay, is a bay located to the west of the Waverton Peninsula, west of Balls Head and to the east of Berry Island, on the north of Sydney Harbour, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.Some of the older alternative names for the bay refer to industries that were once situated on its foreshore. There was a sugar factory, Robey's Sugar Works, there from around 1857 to 1859. There was a facility that produced kerosene from oil shale and handled imported 'case oil', Australian Mineral Oil Company, there from 1865 to 1868. There was an explosives factory, Neokratine Safety Explosives Company, there from 1889 to 1891. The site of these earlier enterprises was later occupied by a gasworks owned by the North Shore Gas Company, from 1917 to 1987. After coal gas production ceased, during the period 1971–1973, the artist Brett Whitely used the disused coal store building as a studio for creating large artworks. The site is now the residential complex, 'Wondakiah', with some public open space. Some of the old gasworks buildings have been repurposed as part of the residential complex.Balls Head Bay contains the former Balls Head Coal Loader. Parts of the disused loader site have been converted to public space—now known as the Coal Loader Centre for Sustainability—with the derelict loading wharf remaining safely off-limits. The site has interpretive signage that provides information covering in detail the history of the site. In June 2021, the coal loader site was added to the NSW Heritage Register. It is now the home of the museum and training ship MV Cape Don. The naval base HMAS Waterhen is located within the bay.Ships were broken up and burnt to the waterline in the bay. One such ship was the Lalla Rookh, which was broken up at Kerosene Bay in 1898 after it caught fire in November 1897. The Australasian Underwater Cultural Heritage Database describes her as a 147-ton brig, 29.9 metres (98 ft) long. (See Lalla Rookh (ship).)

Ballast Point is a 2.6-hectare (6-acre) urban park located in Birchgrove at the tip of the Balmain Peninsula in the Inner West Council local government area in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The park is located adjacent to the point of the same name, situated between Snails Bay and Mort Bay in Sydney Harbour.

Sydney Harbour railway electricity tunnel is heritage-listed electricity infrastructure running under Sydney Harbour between Birchgrove and Greenwich, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It is also known as Balmain to Greenwich Electric Cable Tunnel. It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999.

Waterview Wharf Workshops is a heritage-listed former shipping company workshops at 37 Nicholson Street, Balmain, Inner West Council, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It was built from 1880 to 1941. It is also known as Adelaide Steamship Company wharf and Burns timber yard. It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999.

Blues Point Tower is an apartment block in Sydney, Australia. Located in McMahons Point, close to North Sydney, the tower is 83 metres (272 ft) tall with 144 apartments over 24 levels. The building is regarded by some critics as one of the ugliest buildings in Sydney.

Morrison & Sinclair was a Sydney, New South Wales based company and one of the great ship and boatbuilding names of Port Jackson. The company was founded in the early 1890s and ceased trading in 1970.
