Almelo is a railway station in Almelo, Netherlands. The station was opened on 18 October 1865 and is on the Deventer–Almelo railway, Almelo–Salzbergen railway, Zwolle–Almelo railway and Mariënberg–Almelo railway lines. The current station building dates from 1962. The train services are operated by Nederlandse Spoorwegen and Arriva.

Vriezenveen is a railway station in Vriezenveen, The Netherlands. The station was opened on 1 October 1906 and is on the single track Mariënberg–Almelo railway. The line is primarily used by school children in the mornings and afternoons. The train services are operated by Arriva.

Twenterand (Dutch: [ˈtʋɛntərɑnt] (listen); Twents: Tweanteraand) is a municipality in the province of Overijssel in the eastern Netherlands. The name means "edge of Twente" as it is situated on the northwestern fringe of the historical region of Twente. The municipality of Twenterand also had two city halls, because of the merger between the former municipalities of Vriezenveen and Den Ham in 2001. The city hall in Vriezenveen remained. The extended municipality of Vriezenveen is called Twenterand since 2003. The former municipal area of Vriezenveen belongs to the region of Twente and the former municipal area of Den Ham partly to the region of Salland and partly to the region of Twente.

Wierden (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈʋiːrdə(n)] (listen); Tweants: Wierdn) is a town and a municipality in the eastern Netherlands, in the province of Overijssel. The municipality of Wierden also includes the following towns, villages and townships: Enter, Hoge Hexel, IJpelo, Notter, Rectum, and Zuna. The municipality has 10 primary schools and 1 secondary school. There are 2 soccer clubs, 2 tennis clubs and 1 volleyball club, this is only the top of the clubs. The village has 3 cemeteries of which, only one is currently in use. The mayor is Doret Tigchelaar-van Oene, who is also the chair of the board of mayor and aldermen. In midsummer, the locally known, 3-day festival "WieZo" is held. Which starts on a Thursday and ends Saturdays. Every night there are 2 musical acts on the Binnenhof. On Saturday there is also the Wiezoloop. For some years the Wiezoloop has become an independent event, separate from the Wiezo, and is held the same year about 1 month earlier.

Vriezenveen (Lower Saxon: 't Vjenne, Venne, Vjenne, Vreeznven or Vreeinvenne) is a town in the municipality of Twenterand in the Dutch province of Overijssel. The population was 13,800 on January 1, 2020.Until July 1, 2002, Vriezenveen formed an independent municipality together with the villages of De Pollen, Westerhaar-Vriezenveensewijk, Aadorp and the hamlets Bruinehaar, Weitemanslanden and Westerhoeven. In 2001, the municipality of Vriezenveen was merged with the municipality of Den Ham, which included the villages of Den Ham, Vroomshoop, and Geerdijk. The new municipality was called Vriezenveen and renamed Twenterand in 2003.The town hall of Twenterand is located in Vriezenveen. The dependance of the town hall in Den Ham was closed on May 30, 2008.

Wierden is a railway station serving the village Wierden in the Netherlands. The station was opened on 1 January 1881. It is located on the Deventer–Almelo railway and the Zwolle–Almelo railway. The train services are operated by Nederlandse Spoorwegen.

De Hoop is a gristmill in Almelo, Netherlands. The mill was built in 1870 with use of a demolished mill from 1797 and was rebuilt after a fire in 1910.

Stad Almelo is a former municipality in the Dutch province of Overijssel. It consisted of the city of Almelo. It existed from 1818 to 1914, when it merged with the municipality of Ambt Almelo, which covered the surrounding countryside.

Erve Asito, formerly the Polman Stadion, is a multi-use stadium in Almelo, Netherlands. It is currently used mostly for football matches. The stadium has a capacity of 12.080 spectators and was built in 1999. It is the official stadium of Eredivisie side Heracles Almelo. Its pitch is made from artificial turf. The stadium was opened on 10 September 1999 followed by the opening match against FC Zwolle. Heracles player Job ten Thije scored the first goal in the Polman Stadium. In 2005 the capacity of the stadium was expanded from 6,900 to 8,500 seats of which 400 are available for the supporters of the visiting team. In 2015 the capacity was expanded to 12,080 seats.On 1 July 2019, the name of the stadium was changed to Erve Asito as part of a 10-year sponsorship agreement.

Almelo (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈɑlməloː] (listen)) is a municipality and a city in the eastern Netherlands. The main population centres in the town are Aadorp, Almelo, Mariaparochie, and Bornerbroek. Almelo has about 72,000 inhabitants in the middle of the rolling countryside of Twente, with the industrial centres of Enschede and Hengelo as close neighbours but also with tourist towns like Ootmarsum, Delden and Markelo only a bicycle ride away. Almelo received city rights in 1394. Within the city limits lies the castle of the Counts of Almelo. Located in the city centre is Huize Almelo, a castle that in its current form dates back to 1662 (This castle is not open to the public). There are mosaics which decorate the walls of the tunnel close to the railway station. The city is also known for its local association football club Heracles Almelo, which plays in the Eredivisie, the highest football league in the Netherlands. The club uses the Erve Asito.

Almelo de Riet is a railway station located in Almelo, Netherlands. The station was opened on 3 October 1926 and is located on the Almelo-Salzbergen railway line. Previously, the station was simply called De Riet. (1926-1965)
