Great Central Railway (Nottingham)

Ruddington is a disused railway station on the Great Central Main Line south of Nottingham. The line had branches that ran to the now decommissioned Ruddington Depot. It was originally a standard GCR country island type station, like those surviving at Quorn and Woodhouse and Rothley, accessed from a road overbridge. The station buildings have been demolished though the island platform still survives. Just south of the station is where the northern end of the northern preserved section of the GCRH starts. The station opened 15 March 1899 and closed to passengers on 4 March 1963, though passenger trains continued to pass through until closure of the line on 3 May 1969. Goods trains continued until the 1980s. During WW2 a new railway station, Ruddington Factory Halt railway station, was constructed at Ruddington Depot The Great Central Railway (Nottingham) have opened a station at Ruddington Fields on the site of the Ministry of Defence Depot and plan to purchase the station, restore it and extend the current preserved Great Central.In March 2021, a bid was submitted to restore the Great Central Railway from Leicester to Ruddington as part of the third round of the Department for Transport Restoring Your Railway fund.

Ruddington () is a large village in the Borough of Rushcliffe in Nottinghamshire, England. The village is 5 miles (8 km) south of Nottingham and 11 miles (18 km) northwest of Loughborough. It had a population of 6,441 at the 2001 Census, increasing to 7,216 at the 2011 Census and 7,674 in 2021. Ruddington is twinned with Grenay, France.The village residents have previously conducted high-profile campaigns in an attempt to retain the rural identity as a village and prevent it being subsumed into the adjoining suburban village of Clifton and town of West Bridgford. It maintains this through a variety of local amenities such as several shops, schools, public houses, community centre, village hall and churches within the village centre.

Rushcliffe Country Park (Grid Reference SK577320) is an open park space covering approximately 210 acres (0.85 km2), located on Mere Way just south of Ruddington on the A60 in the borough of Rushcliffe, Nottinghamshire, England. The park has maintained the Green Flag award for twelve years; the national standard for parks and green spaces in England and Wales.

Clifton All Whites Football Club is a football club based in Clifton, Nottingham. Formed in 1963 as a youth team, the club expanded to include a senior team in the 1970s. The first team are currently members of the United Counties League Division One.

Basford was a rural district close to Nottingham, England, from 1894 to 1974. The district consisted of two detached parts, to the north and south of Nottingham. It was created under the Local Government Act 1894 based on the existing Basford rural sanitary district.The Nottingham suburb of Basford was not part of the rural district, having been added to Nottingham in 1877. Bilborough, Wollaton and parts of both Bestwood Park and Colwick were transferred to the City of Nottingham in 1933. The area of Leake Rural District was added to Basford Rural District in 1935. In 1952 parts of the Clifton with Glapton and Ruddington parishes were also transferred to the City of Nottingham. In 1974 the district was split between the new non-metropolitan districts of Ashfield, Broxtowe, Gedling and Rushcliffe. The parishes of Annesley, Felley and Selston went to Ashfield; the parishes of Awsworth, Brinsley, Cossall, Greasley, Kimberley, Nuthall, Strelley and Trowell went to Broxtowe; the parishes of Bestwood Park, Burton Joyce, Calverton, Lambley, Linby, Newstead, Papplewick, Stoke Bardolph and Woodborough went to Gedling, and the rest to Rushcliffe including the small towns of Ruddington and Radcliffe on Trent.

Wilwell Farm Nature Reserve or Wilwell Cutting is a biological Site of Special Scientific Interest and Local Nature Reserve in Nottinghamshire. The site was originally standard farmland, but in the 1890s a cutting was constructed to take the Great Central Railway's London Extension. The site was located between Ruddington railway station (to the south) and Arkwright Street railway station (to the north). The Great Central Main Line was closed in 1969, and in 1976 it was proposed that the cutting should be used for landfill. However local opposition saw it converted into a Nature Reserve.

Holy Trinity is a tram stop on the Nottingham Express Transit (NET) network in the City of Nottingham suburb of Clifton. It takes its name from the nearby Holy Trinity Church. It is situated on a short stretch of reserved track at the junction of Southchurch Drive and Farnborough Road, and comprises a pair of side platforms flanking the running tracks. The stop is on line 2 of the NET, from Clifton via the city centre to Phoenix Park. Trams run at frequencies that vary between 4 and 8 trams per hour, depending on the day and time of day.Holy Trinity stop opened on 25 August 2015, along with the rest of NET's phase two.

To the south of the stop, a reversing siding is located between the running tracks, allowing trams from the city centre to terminate at Clifton Centre and stand clear of through services.Clifton Centre stop opened on 25 August 2015, along with the rest of NET's phase two.

Clifton is a suburb and historic manor in the city of Nottingham, in Nottinghamshire, England. As of the 2021 census, it had a population of 22,936.Clifton has two council wards in the City of Nottingham (Clifton West and Clifton East as of 2018) with a total population taken at the 2011 census (prior wards of Clifton North and Clifton South) of 26,835. The location also encompasses Clifton Grove and Clifton Village, a residential area set alongside the River Trent. The Manor of Clifton was for many centuries the seat of the de Clifton (later Clifton) family, branches of which were in the 17th century created Baron Clifton of Leighton Bromswold (1608) and Clifton baronets (1611). It is now the site of a council estate. The village is also notable for many old buildings including Clifton Hall, which is the former seat of the Clifton family, and St. Mary's Church. Clifton is also home to the Nottingham Trent University Clifton Campus.

Farnborough Spencer Academy is a coeducational secondary school located in the Clifton area of Nottingham in the English county of Nottinghamshire.The school offers GCSEs as programmes of study for pupils, with a small number of pupils attending Central College Nottingham for vocational courses. It previously held Technology College status as part of the (now defunct) Specialist Schools Programme and also previously had the motto 'Tenez Le Droit. ' Previously a community school administered by Nottingham City Council, in December 2013 an Ofsted inspection judged Farnborough School Technology College to be 'Inadequate'. The rating meant the school was placed in special measures. The school was opened in September 2014 by paralympian Richard Whitehead and was renamed The Farnborough Academy. The 1950s school buildings were demolished and also replaced with a new building designed by Franklin Ellis Architects, one of the last projects built under the Building Schools for the Future programme. It was then operated as part of the Trent Academies Group, however, in September 2018 Trent Academies Group merged with the Spencer Academies Trust. The school then changed its name to Farnborough Spencer Academy in September 2021.
