Bentleigh East is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 14 km (8.7 mi) south-east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Glen Eira local government area. Bentleigh East recorded a population of 30,159 at the 2021 census.

McKinnon Secondary College is a public secondary school located in the Melbourne suburb of McKinnon. The school was ranked 62nd in Victoria in terms of VCE median study score in 2012. In February 2022, the school opened a second campus located in Bentleigh East to be designated to Year 8 and Year 9 students. This new campus was officially dubbed the East Campus. Pizza Binnion, the principal, is retiring at the end of 2022, with Mr Korn becoming the new principal.

The electoral district of Bentleigh is an electoral district of the Victorian Legislative Assembly. It covers an area of 25 square kilometres (9.7 sq mi) in southern Melbourne, including the suburbs of Bentleigh, Hampton East, McKinnon, and Moorabbin, and parts of Bentleigh East, Brighton East and Ormond. It also includes the Moorabbin campus of the Monash Medical Centre. It lies within the Southern Metropolitan Region of the upper house, the Legislative Council.Bentleigh has usually been seen as a key marginal seat, lying at the 'point of the pendulum' needed to change government. It is considered a bellwether seat in Victoria, having elected a member of the governing party in all but two elections of its existence. It was created in 1967 as a fairly safe Liberal seat during the height of the Victorian Liberals' popularity. It remained in Liberal hands until 1979 where the Liberals nearly lost their majority for the first time in just under three decades. For most of the time since then, it has been a marginal seat, and is part of the belt of marginal seats in eastern Melbourne that usually decide elections in Victoria. Labor then held the seat until the Kennett landslide of 1992. Following this, the seat was narrowly held by Inga Peulich until she was tipped out of office by Rob Hudson in the 2002 election. In the 2010 election the seat returned to the Liberals with Elizabeth Miller narrowly defeating Hudson. Bentleigh was actually the last seat to be decided, and Miller's victory allowed the Coalition to form government by one seat. In turn, Miller was ousted by Labor candidate Nick Staikos at the 2014 election. Staikos picked up a hefty swing of over 11 percent in Labor's landslide victory of 2018 and now sits on a majority of 61.9 percent, easily the strongest result for Labor in the seat's history.

St Bede's College, Bentleigh East (formerly St James College) is a campus of St Bede's College that caters for years 7–10, located in Bentleigh East, a suburb of Melbourne, Australia. The campus has around 470 students, and is administered by the De La Salle Brothers, a teaching order of Christian Brothers. The campus director as of 2012 is Stephen Pooley. At the beginning of 2021, St James College was amalgamated into St Bede's College in Mentone, operating as a second campus of that college.

Murrumbeena recorded a population of 9,996 at the 2021 census.Murrumbeena is a small and highly coveted suburban area with extensive parklands and a rich artistic heritage. It has multiple commercial zones featuring services and cafes, including: Murrumbeena Village, nearby the train station; Poath Road; North Road; and Murrumbeena Road nearby the Beauville Estate and Duncan McKinnon Reserve.

The Yarra Yarra Golf Club is a private golf club in Australia, located in Victoria at Bentleigh East, a suburb southeast of Melbourne. It is one of the eight Melbourne Sandbelt championship courses and is renowned for its par-3s. It has hosted the Women's Australian Open seven times as well as several editions of the Victorian Open. The club was formed in 1898 and the current course opened 94 years ago in 1929; it is named for the Yarra River. In the 1970s the club professional was Geoff Parslow. In 1977 he won the Victorian Open when it was held at Yarra Yarra. His surprise victory garnered much media attention; he defeated some of the world's best, including Greg Norman and Johnny Miller.

McKinnon is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 12 km south-east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Glen Eira local government area. McKinnon recorded a population of 6,878 at the 2021 census.McKinnon is bounded by Murray Road, Lewis Street and Blackshaw Street to the north, Tucker Road to the east, Abergeldie Avenue, Lindsay Street, Field Street, Nicholson Street, Fitzroy Street and Elster Creek to the south and Thomas Street to the west. It contains parks such as Wattle Grove Park, Allnutt Park and Joyce Park. Until 1941 the territory of the suburb was a part of Bentleigh, while the part of current McKinnon Road to the East from Jasper Road was named Manchester Road.
