Esplugues de Llobregat (Catalan pronunciation: [əsˈpluɣəz ðə ʎuβɾəˈɣat]) is a municipality of the Barcelona metropolitan area. Formerly in the Barcelonès, since 1990 it has been part of the comarca of Baix Llobregat. During recent decades Esplugues has evolved from a predominantly industrial town to a more diverse service area, preserving, however, its cultural and historical identity. It is known for its characteristic old quarter, the only one in the Baix Llobregat area with such evocative and romantic areas. The winding Carrer de Montserrat goes through the sprawling architectural complex built between 1968 and 2017 by sculptor Xavier Corberó. The mansion of Can Cortada was home to the Baron Maldà, author of Calaix de Sastre, the most representative work of Catalan literature of the late 18th century. Esplugues holds a remarkable natural area with parks and green spaces such as the Park of Solidarity, the Park of Torrents and the Can Vidalet Park. From the mountain of Sant Pere Màrtir, it is possible to enjoy a picturesque viewpoint of the entire town. The German School of Barcelona and the American School of Barcelona are located in town and attract wealthy expatriate families who decide to get their kids educated there. Due to its proximity to the Camp Nou stadium, many famous footballers reside in Esplugues, such as Gerard Piqué and his wife Shakira, Andrés Iniesta, and Dani Alves, as well as the motorcycle racer Sete Gibernau, the former World Number 1 tennis player Arantxa Sánchez, and other personalities in Spanish showbiz.

The German School of Barcelona (German: Deutsche Schule Barcelona, Spanish: Colegio Alemán Barcelona, Catalan: Col·legi Alemany de Barcelona) is a German international school in Esplugues de Llobregat, Catalonia, Spain, in the Barcelona metropolitan area.This private school aims to successfully integrate the German children with the Spanish ones, and these into the German schooling system, so that all pupils are enabled at the conclusion of school to speak both languages vernacularly. They are guided during a 12-year tuition program together, after which they are faced with a final examination named Abitur, which is recognized on a global level. For those who do not succeed or plan on going through the whole preparatory school, secondary or general school systems are also offered.

The American School of Barcelona (ASB) is an American international school in Esplugues de Llobregat, Catalonia, Spain, in the Barcelona metropolitan area.

The Àrea Metropolitana de Barcelona (AMB; "Metropolitan Area of Barcelona") is a public body operating on the principle of metropolitan authority. It is composed of representatives of Barcelona and 36 adjacent municipalities accounting for a population of 3,239,337 (Idescat, 2014) within an area of 636 km2. Its jurisdiction constitutes the main core of the unofficial Barcelona metropolitan area, with a population over 5 million.

Can Boixeres is a station on line 5 of the Barcelona Metro. The station is located on an open-air section of track between Carrer de l'Estronci and Camí de Can Boixeres, just south of the Ronda de Dalt, in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat. It was opened in 1976. This station is one of Barcelona's few above-ground metro stations, although the platforms and rails are roofed. The single ticket hall, with one access, is located on the second storey. There is a large train garage facility nearby.

Sant Just Desvern (Catalan pronunciation: [ˈsaɲ ˈʒust dəzˈβɛɾn]; Old Catalan for '"Saint Justin of-the-Buckthorn"') is a town near Barcelona, in the comarca of the Baix Llobregat, Catalonia, Spain. Sant Just Desvern is located in the 2,078317º of longitude and 41,381611º of latitude. It is situated at 122 m (average) above sea level. The maximum height is located at 405 meters above sea level, almost in the top of Turó de Merlès (416.7 m), and the lowest spot of this town is about 40 meters, located at the park of Torreblanca. The surface of the town is about 7.8 km2. The town has 35 km of streets. It has good connections to arrive to N-340, the highway A-2 and Rondes de Dalt and Litoral.In the first division of comarcal, Sant Just Desvern was included in Barcelonès (1936). But in the comarcal revision in 1987, along with Esplugas de Llobregat, they became part of Baix Llobregat. The municipality borders are Sant Joan Despí to the southwest, Esplugues de Llobregat to the east and Sant Feliu de Llobregat to the northeast. Barcelona is almost in the border line. The first mention of the town in a document dates back to the year 965. Its coat of arms depicts a blue bell inside a golden rhombus. The local city council uses the slogan pobleiciutat (Catalan for townandcity). Sant Just Desvern is home to several celebrities including players for the F.C. Barcelona football club and politicians including the ex-president of the Generalitat de Catalunya, José Montilla.

Can Vidalet is a station on line 5 of the Barcelona Metro. The station is located underneath Carrer de la Maladeta, between Carrer de la Mina and Carrer Hortènsia in Esplugues de Llobregat and L'Hospitalet de Llobregat. It was opened in 1976. Originally and before 1982 was named 'Maladeta'. The side-platform station has a single ticket hall with two access: 1) career Hortènsia (built in 1976); 2) career Maladeta. The building of the second access (2010) had been long promised but the opinion of the affected neighbours was divided.

Sant Ildefons is a station on line 5 of the Barcelona Metro. The station is located underneath Avinguda República Argentina, between Plaça Sant Ildefons and Carrer Camèlia, in Cornellà de Llobregat. It was opened in 1976 and served as the terminus of line 5 until the extension to Cornellà Centre in 1983. The side-platform station has a single ticket hall with two accesses.

Hospital Sant Joan de Déu Barcelona is a teaching hospital specializing in the fields of pediatrics, gynecology and obstetrics. It is located on Passeig Sant Joan de Déu in Esplugues de Llobregat, a municipality bordering Barcelona, Catalonia (Spain). It is a privately owned center concerted by the Catalan Health Service which belongs to the Hospitaller Order of St. John of God, religious organization that manages nearly 300 health centers over the world, one of which is St John of God Hospital Sierra Leone. The center has 362 beds and 12 operating rooms. It employs more than 1.200 professionals and attends every year more than 4.000 births, 130.000 emergencies, records 26.000 admissions and 13.000 surgeries are performed.

La Fábrica is a former cement factory that was converted to offices and habitation space in the 1970s by Ricardo Bofill Taller de Arquitectura (RBTA). Located in Sant Just Desvern near Barcelona, it has been described as "the heart and brain of Bofill's professional and personal life." It has been widely published and, beyond its usage as the firm's head office, is a reference point in the work of RBTA.

Walden 7 is an apartment building designed by Ricardo Bofill Taller de Arquitectura and located in Sant Just Desvern near Barcelona, in Catalonia, Spain. It was built in 1975.

Can Serra is a Barcelona Metro station, in the L'Hospitalet de Llobregat municipality of the Barcelona metropolitan area, and named after the nearby Can Serra neighbourhood. The station is served by line L1.The station is located under Parc de les Planes between the Carrer de Molí and the Avinguda d'Isabel la Catòlica. There are entrances from both the park and from Avinguda de Can Serra, which serve an underground ticket hall. The two 96-metre (315 ft) long side platforms are at a lower level.The station opened in 1987, when line L1 was extended from Torrassa station to Avinguda Carrilet station.
