Corkerhill

Corkerhill railway station serves the Corkerhill and Mosspark neighbourhoods of Glasgow, Scotland. The station is managed by ScotRail and lies on the Paisley Canal Line, 3¼ miles (5 km) west of Glasgow Central. The station was originally a staff halt on the Glasgow and South Western Railway, with a small network of houses having been built for workers at the Corkerhill Carriage Servicing Maintenance Depot (opened 1896); eventually the isolated village was swallowed up by the expanding Glasgow urban area with the construction of the Mosspark, Cardonald and Pollok estates. The station was opened to the public in 1923 and was rebuilt by British Railways in 1954.

Glasgow South West is a constituency of the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. As in all other seats since the 1950 abolition of multi-member university returns to the Commons, residents elect one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system of election. The seat saw its first MP at the 2005 general election. Its 2017 general election result was the ninth-closest result, with a winning margin of 60 votes. At the 2019 general election, Chris Stephens of the SNP was re-elected with an increased majority over Matt Kerr of the Labour Party, with 4,900 votes and a 7.2% swing from the previous election two years earlier.

Mosspark (Scottish Gaelic: Pàirc na Mòna) is a district in the Scottish city of Glasgow. It is situated south of the River Clyde, in the southwest of the city.

Corkerhill Carriage Servicing Maintenance Depot is located in Corkerhill, Glasgow, Scotland. The depot is situated on the Paisley Canal Line and is to the east of Corkerhill station. The depot code is CK.

St Paul's High School is a co-educational, Roman Catholic comprehensive secondary school located in Pollok, Glasgow, Scotland. It was built on the site of, and using some buildings from, the former Craigbank Secondary School, to replace the previous Catholic school in the area, Bellarmine Secondary (the Silverburn Centre is now at its location), opening with its new identity in 2002.The majority of the Pollok district falls into the catchment area of a different school, Lourdes Secondary, while St Paul's serves communities further south including Arden, Carnwadric, Darnley, Deaconsbank, Eastwood, Househillwood, Kennishead, Nitshill, Parkhouse and Priesthill.

Halfway, also known as Halfwayhouse (Scottish Gaelic: Taigh Letheach Slighe), is a neighbourhood on the south-west side of the city of Glasgow, Scotland. Once a small village in its own right, sitting on the original Renfrewshire-Lanarkshire border, the area takes its name from the fact that it lies equidistant between Glasgow and Paisley at a distance of 3 miles (5 kilometres) from each ('Three Mile House' was situated on Paisley Road West, but has long since gone, although 'Two Mile House' built and owned by the various railway companies at the junction of Dumbreck Road survived into the 1980s). In 1926, Halfwayhouse and a handful of neighbouring villages including Cardonald, Hillington and Crookston were annexed to the ever-expanding city of Glasgow. This resulted in the renaming of many local roads to prevent duplication with ones in Glasgow. Through the 1940s and 1950s, Halfwayhouse was developed significantly to the point where there is very little trace of the original village on what is still the main road between Glasgow and Paisley. The area is bordered by two cemeteries: Craigton Cemetery to the north overlooked by the 1950s Moss Heights multi-storey apartments and Cardonald Cemetery to the south, adjoining the Mosspark neighbourhood.

Lourdes Secondary School, established in 1956, is a school in the south-west of Glasgow which serves a large catchment area, including the communities of Cardonald, Craigton, Crookston, Drumoyne, Govan, Hillington, Ibrox, Kinning Park, Mosspark, Penilee and Pollok. It has an enrolment of approximately 1,200 pupils and 90 members of staff.

Pollok (Scottish Gaelic: Pollag, lit. 'a pool', Scots: Powk) is a large housing estate on the south-western side of the city of Glasgow, Scotland. The estate was built either side of World War II to house families from the overcrowded inner city. Housing 30,000 at its peak, its population has since declined due to the replacement of substandard housing with lower-density accommodation. As of 2021, the population was recorded at 81,951 people. The main features of the area are the nearby Pollok Country Park, where the Burrell Collection is now housed, the ruins of Crookston Castle (within the north part of residential Pollok) which Mary, Queen of Scots once visited, and the Silverburn Centre, one of Glasgow's major indoor retail complexes.

Silverburn (also known as Pollok Town Centre or The Centre) is an out-of-town shopping centre located on Barrhead Road in Pollok, Glasgow, Scotland. The development replaces the 75-acre (30-hectare) Pollok centre with a brand new 1,500,000-square-foot (140,000-square-metre) shopping centre, anchored by Tesco, Next, Marks & Spencer and previously Debenhams before it closed in 2021.

Cowglen is a district in the Scottish city of Glasgow, within the Newlands/Auldburn ward of the city but geographically closer to the large suburb of Pollok. It is situated south of the River Clyde. Much of its territory is open land occupied by a golf course, and it also adjoins Pollok Country Park. Cowglen was the site of a new military hospital during World War II, which continued to operate until 2000. In the 2010s, work began on a substantial housing development in the area, based around the site of the hospital and the demolished buildings of a large National Savings and Investments regional headquarters to its north, with the project encouraged by the proximity of the Silverburn Shopping Centre, Kennishead railway station and Junction 2 of the M77 motorway.

Mosspark railway station serves the Pollok and Cardonald areas of Glasgow, Scotland. The station is on the Paisley Canal Line, 3¾ miles (6 km) west of Glasgow Central and is managed by ScotRail. The Mosspark district after which it is named is more closely served by Corkerhill railway station.
