Nannerch is a village and community in Flintshire, Wales, located within the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. At the 2001 Census the population of Nannerch was 531, reducing to 496 in 2011.

Nannerch railway station was a station in Nannerch, Flintshire, Wales. The station was opened on 6 September 1869 and closed on 30 April 1962.

The Mold and Denbigh Junction Railway was a railway company that built a 16-mile (26 km) railway line in North Wales. It formed a link between the Mold Railway (from Chester) and the Vale of Clwyd Railway towards Rhyl. The line opened in 1869. Serving a largely rural district, it never attracted much business, and the passenger service was withdrawn in 1962. Ordinary goods traffic ceased not long after, and the line closed completely in 1983.

Star Crossing Halt railway station was a station between Nannerch and Cilcain, Flintshire, Wales. The station was opened on 2 November 1914 and closed on 30 April 1962. Today the stationmasters house is in use as private residence and the platforms and a waiting shelter are still extant.

Lixwm (Welsh: Licswm) is a small village in Flintshire, Wales. It is part of the community of Ysceifiog. Lixwm was formerly a mining village, and one explanation of its unusual name was that it was given to it by miners who moved to the area from Derbyshire: in their dialect "likesome", or "licksome", was an adjective meaning "pleasant". It may have been referred to as Lixwm Green, or Lixum Green, for a period in the 19th century.Samuel Lewis's 1843 Topographical Dictionary of Wales noted that at that time the majority of the population of Ysceifiog parish lived in Lixwm and were mainly employed in mines in the neighbouring parishes. Even at that time, however, the population was declining due to the closure of some mines.

Ysceifiog, also spelled as Ysgeifiog, is a village, community and parish in Flintshire, Wales. It lies on a back road just north of the A541 highway between Nannerch and Caerwys. The name translates roughly as "a place where elder trees grow".The parish includes the villages of Lixwm, to the east of Ysceifiog village, and Babell, to the north.

The Clwydian Range (Welsh: Bryniau Clwyd; also known as the Clwydian Hills; or simply the Clwyds) is a series of hills in the north-east of Wales that runs from Llandegla in the south to Prestatyn in the north; the highest point is 554 m (1,818 ft) Moel Famau. The range forms the north-western part of the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Babell is a hamlet in Flintshire, Wales. It is part of the community of Ysgeifiog. The hamlet takes its name from the Babell Methodist chapel, built in 1836, but the surrounding area, a township of Ysgeifiog parish, was formerly known as Gelliloveday or Gellilyfdy. The name was recorded in the Domesday Book in the form "Cheslilaved", and as "Kelliloveday" in 1602. It has been suggested to mean "wych elm wood" (from Welsh gelli, "wood", and llwyv, llwyfanen, "wych elm"), but the placename scholar Ellis Davies stated that it probably came from the personal name "Loveday", ("Lyfdy"): "Loveday's wood".There is a section of the ancient earthwork Offa's Dyke nearby at Llyn-Ddu. Although rural the area is dotted with old copper workings from the 19th century. The notable 17th-century antiquary John Jones lived at the hall of Gellilyfdy, to the west of the present-day village.

Moel Arthur ("Arthur's Hill") is an Iron Age hillfort in Flintshire, Wales, at the boundary with Denbighshire, about 5 miles (8.0 km) east of Denbigh. It is on a prominent hill, height 455.8 metres (1,495 ft), in the Clwydian Range; it overlooks the Vale of Clwyd to the west. Offa's Dyke Path skirts the hill. It is about 1 mile (1.6 km) south-east of the hillfort of Penycloddiau.

Cilcain Hall is a country house 2 miles (3 km) north-northeast of the village of Cilcain, Flintshire, Wales (grid reference SJ185683). It was built in 1875–77 for W. B. Buddicom and designed by the Chester architect John Douglas. The hall is built in stone and has a red tile roof. Its architecture includes Elizabethan elements. Douglas also designed an entrance lodge which was built around the same time on the main road. The lodge is no longer present.

Ddol Uchaf (also known as Y Ddol Uchaf) is a Site of Special Scientific Interest located near Ysceifiog, Flintshire, Wales. It has been selected as an SSSI due to the unique wildlife and organisms around the area.

St Mary's Church, Cilcain, is in the village of Cilcain, Flintshire, Wales. It is an active Anglican church in the Bro Famau group of parishes, in the Mold Mission Area, in the archdeaconry of Wrexham and the diocese of St Asaph. The church is designated by Cadw as a Grade I listed building.
