Nannerch is a village and community in Flintshire, Wales, located within the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. At the 2001 Census the population of Nannerch was 531, reducing to 496 in 2011.

Calcoed is a small village in Flintshire, Wales. It is located to the south west of the town of Holywell, to the north west of the village of Brynford and near the A55 road (North Wales Expressway). It contains the Cynfaen Memorial Methodist Chapel and several houses.

The Mold and Denbigh Junction Railway was a railway company that built a 16-mile (26 km) railway line in North Wales. It formed a link between the Mold Railway (from Chester) and the Vale of Clwyd Railway towards Rhyl. The line opened in 1869. Serving a largely rural district, it never attracted much business, and the passenger service was withdrawn in 1962. Ordinary goods traffic ceased not long after, and the line closed completely in 1983.

Babell is a hamlet in Flintshire, Wales. It is part of the community of Ysgeifiog. The hamlet takes its name from the Babell Methodist chapel, built in 1836, but the surrounding area, a township of Ysgeifiog parish, was formerly known as Gelliloveday or Gellilyfdy. The name was recorded in the Domesday Book in the form "Cheslilaved", and as "Kelliloveday" in 1602. It has been suggested to mean "wych elm wood" (from Welsh gelli, "wood", and llwyv, llwyfanen, "wych elm"), but the placename scholar Ellis Davies stated that it probably came from the personal name "Loveday", ("Lyfdy"): "Loveday's wood".There is a section of the ancient earthwork Offa's Dyke nearby at Llyn-Ddu. Although rural the area is dotted with old copper workings from the 19th century. The notable 17th-century antiquary John Jones lived at the hall of Gellilyfdy, to the west of the present-day village.

Penbedw is a country estate near Nannerch, Flintshire, Wales. Penbedw Hall was demolished by developers some time after 1969.Its parks and gardens are listed as Grade II* in the Cadw/ICOMOS Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in Wales.

Ysceifiog, also spelled as Ysgeifiog, is a village, community and parish in Flintshire, Wales. It lies on a back road just north of the A541 highway between Nannerch and Caerwys. The name translates roughly as "a place where elder trees grow".The parish includes the villages of Lixwm, to the east of Ysceifiog village, and Babell, to the north.

Rhes-y-cae is a small parish and village in Flintshire, Wales. Literally translated from Welsh, Rhes-y-cae is 'Row of fields'. It is situated between Pentre Halkyn and Rhosesmor and is part of the local government community of Halkyn. Local facilities include a chapel, a church and a park, which is situated next to Ysgol Rhes-y-cae. The school closed in 2013, due to there being too few students to warrant its continued operation. The parish was consecrated on 27 June 1847.The village shop has shut down, the bakery has closed to the public, and Rhes-y-cae pub, The Miners Arms, closed in 2014.Every summer the Rhes-y-cae Show takes place, featuring dog racing and show jumping. Around 600 people attend each year.

St Michael's Church, also known as Brynford Parish Church, is a Grade II listed Church in Wales church in Brynford, Flintshire, northeast Wales, to the southwest of Holywell. The foundation stone was laid by the Bishop of St. Asaph on 6 October 1851, and it was consecrated on 12 July 1853. The architect was Thomas Henry Wyatt. It is designated as a Grade II listed buildingTwo Bronze Age round barrows known as Clwt Militia (Militia Patch) are located on Holywell Golf Club, about 0.65 miles (1 km) north-northwest of the church.

Brynford (Welsh: Brynffordd) is a village and community in Flintshire, Wales. It is located to the south west of the town of Holywell and near the A55 road (North Wales Expressway). Brynford had a population of 1,059 at the 2011 census.St Michael's Church (Church in Wales) dates from 1851 and is a Grade II listed building. The Cynfaen Memorial Methodist Chapel, serving Brynford, is in the nearby village of Calcoed. Two Bronze Age round barrows known as Clwt Militia (Militia Patch) are located on Holywell Golf Club, about 0.65 miles (1 km) north-northwest of the church.Historically, the area was extensively mined for lead and has been left with the scars of that past all over its common land.The explorer and journalist Henry Morton Stanley was a student teacher in the old village school.The community includes the villages of Calcoed and Dolphin.

Holywell Golf Club (Welsh: Clwb Golff Treffynnon) is a golf club, situated a mile southwest of the town of Holywell, Flintshire, Wales. Instituted in 1906, it is an 18-hole moorland and parkland course and is approximately 800 feet above sea level. In 2001 the club nearly faced bankruptcy due to problems with Foot-and-mouth disease from roaming sheep.

Star Crossing Halt railway station was a station between Nannerch and Cilcain, Flintshire, Wales. The station was opened on 2 November 1914 and closed on 30 April 1962. Today the stationmasters house is in use as private residence and the platforms and a waiting shelter are still extant.
