Bandra Talao

Bandra (Pronunciation: [bæːɳɖɾa]) also known as Vandre (Pronunciation: [ʋaːn̪d̪ɾe]) is an upscale coastal suburb located in Mumbai, India. The suburb is located to the immediate north of the Mithi River, which separates Bandra from Mumbai City district. It is the third-largest commercial hub in Maharashtra, after Mumbai & Pune, primarily aided by the Bandra Kurla Complex.Originally, Bandra was larger in size when present day Khar was also a part of it. Almost a century ago, it was considered too large a suburb to be served by one railway station. Therefore, the Khar Road railway station was established in 1924, to give the northern part of Bandra closer access to the Western Railway line. This eventually led to Khar being considered a separate suburb. But to this day, the two adjoined suburbs make up one homogenous zone. Many prominent citizens of Mumbai, who are active in Bollywood, Media, Cricket and Politics reside in this area.

Kherwadi was one of the constituencies of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, in India. It was made defunct after constituency map of India was redrawn in 2008.

K B Bhabha Hospital (popularly known as Bhabha Hospital) is a public hospital in Bandra (west) in Mumbai, India. It was established by the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai. Bhabha Hospital is one of the hospitals in the city where a huge number of accident or disaster victims turn up. It is behind Globus mall, on Waterfield Road, Bandra. During the COVID-19 pandemic in India the hospital ran out of oxygen several times.

On 27 October 2024, a stampede occurred at the Bandra Terminus railway station in Mumbai, India. The stampede injured nine people, with two reported to be in critical condition. The incident occurred as a crowd of passengers surged towards Bandra-Gorakhpur express train, resulting in overcrowding and a panic-driven stampede on the platform.

Kherwadi is a middle class, developing neighborhood, situated on the eastern side of Bandra railway station, Mumbai. Its name is derived from the first chief minister of Bombay State, B. G. Kher. It is surrounded by the CBD of BKC to the east, Mahim to the south, Khar to the north and S.V. Road to the west. It is well connected to all the parts of Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane. Western Expressway passes through Kherwadi junction, a signal intersection situated in Kherwadi. It was first developed by MHADA, with 35 buildings with each building having 56 flats, with each flat being a 1 Room Kitchen, presently being redeveloped into highrises by private builders. It also consists of the affluent upper-middle-class neighborhood of New MIG Colony consisting of 14 Buildings, Having 2 BHK flat system. The Naupada or Behrampada slums are situated behind the New MIG Colony.

Vandre West Assembly constituency is one of the 288 Vidhan Sabha constituencies of Maharashtra state in western India, since 2008. Vandre, also known as Bandra, is a suburb of Mumbai. Before the 2008 delimitation of assembly seats, this seat's area was covered under Vandre Assembly constituency, represented by Ramdas Nayak among others.

The Mahim Causeway is a vital link road connecting South Mumbai with its northern suburbs. The causeway links the neighbourhoods of Mahim to the south with Bandra to the north. The Mahim Causeway was built between 1841 and 1846 to connect the island of Salsette with Mahim. The swampy area between the two islands made travel dangerous and thus a need for a causeway arose. The British East India Company, who governed Bombay at that time, refused to fund the project. This led Lady Jeejeebhoy, wife of the first baronet Sir Jamsetjee Jeejeebhoy, to donate the entire amount of Rs.1,57,000/- on the condition that the government would not charge a toll for its use or disturb the Koli community who lived around the areaThe Mahim causeway forms the link between Swami Vivekanand Road and L.J.Road, being the stretch between Bandra masjid and Mahim church (St. Michael's). It is not to be confused with the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, a major infrastructural project opened on 30 June 2009 which is designed to ease traffic across the causeway by building another bridge across the Mahim Bay.

Hill Road (officially renamed as Ramdas Nayak Road) is an arterial road in Bandra (West), Mumbai, India. It starts from the intersection of Bandra railway station road and Swami Vivekanand Road (SV Road) and goes west up to Mehboob Studio, leading to the Bandstand Promenade, the Bandra Fort, and Mount Mary Church, Bandra. Hill Road houses a number of old and new brands. The 165-year-old St. Stanislaus High School, and its adjoining St. Peter's church, St. Joseph's girls' school, the Apostolic Carmel convent school and St. Andrew's Church (Mumbai) all lie on Hill road. Two hospitals, Bhabha hospital and Holy Family Hospital also lie on Hill road. The Tata Parsi agiary built in 1873 is a prominent landmark on Hill road.

Gopaldas Jhamatmal Advani Law College (GJALC) is a law school in Mumbai, India. It has been listed among the most preferred Law Colleges in the West Zone of India. It is considered to be a top college for legal studies in Mumbai. GJALC was established in 1977 by the Hyderabad (Sind) National Collegiate Board (HSNC). It was established as an affiliated college to the University of Mumbai and recognised by the Bar Council of India, New Delhi, for teaching a 3-year degree course in law (LL.B.). The alumni of the college hold prestigious positions in the field of law.

St. Stanislaus High School is a private primary and secondary school for boys located in Bandra, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. Founded in 1863 by German Jesuit priests as an orphanage, the institution later grew to be a full-fledged school for day-scholars as well as boarders and now has more than 2,300 students from KG-10. The school is spread over a campus of approximately seven acres (three hectares), making it one of the largest schools (by area) in Mumbai.

Government Polytechnic, Mumbai (GPM) is a diploma engineering college located in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, and one of the oldest diploma engineering colleges in Maharashtra. Government Polytechnic, Mumbai is an academically and administratively autonomous institute, however, it is affiliated to the Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education (MSBTE) offering various Diploma and Post Diploma programs in engineering and technology. The institute is financially supported by the Government of Maharashtra. This Institute was awarded autonomy in 1990.
