Kluge House, also known as Maverick House, is a rare example of Silesian fachwerk, log and half-timber construction, located in Helena, Montana. In mid-1964 the home was almost destroyed as a fire hazard as it had fallen into disrepair and transients were living in it. A shed is attached to the north side of the house. The second floor was built in 1882. Prior to that Kluge had apparently done significant work on the original cabin's first floor, which has hewn squared logs. The second floor is half-timber filled in with bricks. The second floor diagonal logs brace the framing logs. The overall dimensions of the house are 30'-11" x 16'-4" with a foundation of stone found locally. There are front and rear doors on the first floor. The front door is asymmetrically located and the rear door is near a corner. The second floor is reached only via an exterior staircase. The house has a brick fireplace. The first floor has an entrance vestibule and two rooms of dissimilar size. The smaller room has a hatch leading to a cellar. The second floor has a floor plan that is very similar to that of the first floor but it is reversed, i.e., two rooms and a vestibule. Floors are wooden.Emil Kluge was born March 28, 1845, in Prussia. Kluge served in the infantry, in both the Austro-Prussian War in 1866 and the Franco-Prussian War in 1870, in the latter of which he was wounded. Kluge and his family came to America from Germany in 1871, first settling in Detroit, Michigan for two years, and then Helena, Montana, arriving on May 3, 1873. At that time, the family moved into this house, which was an abandoned miner's cabin. Kluge worked mostly as a contractor, but also as a gold prospector, constable, and Justice of the Peace. He was an officer in one of Helena's Masonic lodges and was a member of the Odd Fellows. Kluge resided in Helena until his death, September 26, 1924.

W.C. Child Ranch

The W.C. Child Ranch also known as the Kleffner Ranch and the Child-Kleffner Ranch is a national historic site located on state highway 518, south of East Helena, Montana, United States. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 23, 1977. The ranch was purchased by W. C. Child about 1885, and was originally named "White Face Farm". Child was one of the first ranchers to raise purebred Hereford cattle in Montana Territory. After the very harsh Winter of 1886–87, he built a 27,000-square-foot (2,500 m2), 55 feet (17 m) high barn with a fieldstone foundation. It could house 500 head of cattle and up to 350 tons (320 t) of hay. In 1888 he also built an octagonal-shaped house on the property, with the second floor given over to an open ballroom.Child lived in Helena and used the home only for meetings and parties. He went bankrupt as a result of the Silver Panic of 1893 and died in October, 1893, after which the ranch was sold to a number of different owners over the next fifty years. The property's condition deteriorated, until Paul Kleffner obtained the ranch in 1943, first leasing it and then buying it outright in 1946. Kleffner and his family owned the ranch until 2005, when it was bought by Denis and Stacy Young. The site is now primary used as a venue to host events such as weddings.

It is owned by the Helena Regional Airport Authority.The National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2011–2015 categorized it as a primary commercial service airport (more than 10,000 enplanements per year). Federal Aviation Administration records say the airport had 82,673 passenger boardings (enplanements) in calendar year 2022, 82,673 in 2022.

St. Peter's Hospital (Helena, Montana)

St. Peter's Hospital is a healthcare facility in Helena, Montana. The hospital was founded in 1883. The facility has a 24-bed behavioral center and a 99-bed acute care facility. It is accredited by DNV. The facility was the subject of controversy due to Dr Thomas C Weiner's practice there. Weiner was fired in 2020. St Peter's paid a fine of more than $10 million in response to a federal investigation over charges for procedures that were never actually performed.

1935 Helena earthquake

The 1935 Helena earthquake occurred at 22:48:02 MDT on October 18 in Montana, with an epicenter near Helena. It had a magnitude of 6.2 on the surface wave magnitude scale and a maximum perceived intensity of VIII (Severe) on the Mercalli intensity scale. The temblor on that date was the largest of a series of earthquakes that also included a large aftershock on October 31 of magnitude 6.0 and a maximum intensity of VIII. Two people died in the mainshock and two others died as a result of the October 31 aftershock. Property damage was over $4 million.

T. H. Kleinschmidt House

T. H. Kleinschmidt House is a historic house in Helena, Montana. It was built in 1892 for T. H. Kleinschmidt, his wife and their six children. Kleinschmidt was a Prussian-born immigrant who invested in placer mining and later co-founded the First National Bank of Helena with Governor Samuel Thomas Hauser (who lived at the Hauser Mansion). It was designed in the Victorian architectural style by W. E. Norris. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since August 6, 1980.
