The Montana Supreme Court is the highest court of the state court system in the U.S. state of Montana. It is established and its powers defined by Article VII of the 1972 Montana Constitution. It is primarily an appellate court which reviews civil and criminal decisions of Montana's trial courts of general jurisdiction and certain specialized legislative courts, only having original jurisdiction in a limited number of actions. The court's Chief Justice and six Associate Justices are elected by non-partisan, popular elections. The Montana Supreme Court meets in the Joseph P. Mazurek Building in Helena, Montana, the state's capital, an international style building completed in 1982 and named in the honor of former Montana Attorney General, Joseph P. Mazurek.

The Montana State Library is the official state library of Montana, located in Helena, Montana.

The Montana Library Association is the state library association of Montana. It is run by librarians from across the state.Their mission is, "to develop, promote, and improve library and information services and the profession of librarianship in order to enhance learning and ensure access to information for all." They grant library awards including the Sheila Cates Librarian of the Year and the Montana Library of the Year at their annual conference. According to the Montana State Library, the Association, "is a statewide professional organization dedicated to supporting libraries, trustees and library staff in Montana...Throughout the year MLA hosts retreats and an annual conference where members can meet and learn more about what is happening in libraries."It is listed in the 2016-07-13 Senate Congressional Record, as well as other lists of State Library Associations.

The Montana Veterans and Pioneers Memorial Building, at 225 North Roberts in Helena, Montana is the Modern Movement-style headquarters of the Montana Historical Society. It was built in 1953 and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.The design of Great Falls architect Angus Vaughn McIver won the architectural design contest. It was built by Carson Construction Company.

St. Peter's Hospital is a healthcare facility in Helena, Montana. The hospital was founded in 1883. The facility has a 24-bed behavioral center and a 99-bed acute care facility. It is accredited by DNV. The facility was the subject of controversy due to Dr Thomas C Weiner's practice there. Weiner was fired in 2020. St Peter's paid a fine of more than $10 million in response to a federal investigation over charges for procedures that were never actually performed.

The Montana Senate is the upper house of the Montana Legislature, the state legislative branch of the U.S. state of Montana. The body is composed of 50 senators elected for four years. Half of the Senate is up for election every two years.

The Montana House of Representatives is, with the Montana Senate, one of the two houses of the Montana Legislature. Composed of 100 members, the House elects its leadership every two years.

The Montana State Capitol is the state capitol of the U.S. state of Montana that houses the Montana State Legislature which is located in the state capital of Helena at 1301 East Sixth Avenue. The building was constructed between 1896 and 1902 with wing-annexes added between 1909 and 1912.

Helena College University of Montana is a public community college in Helena, Montana. It was established in 1939 and was previously known as The University of Montana – Helena College of Technology, Helena College of Technology, and the Helena Vocational-Technical Center. The school offers associate degrees in arts, science, and applied science as well as technical proficiency certificates in various fields.

Helena (; ) is the capital city of the U.S. state of Montana and the seat of Lewis and Clark County.Helena was founded as a gold camp during the Montana gold rush, and established on October 30, 1864. Due to the gold rush, Helena became a wealthy city, with approximately 50 millionaires inhabiting the area by 1888. The concentration of wealth contributed to the city's prominent, elaborate Victorian architecture.At the 2020 census Helena's population was 32,091, making it the 5th least populous state capital in the United States and the 6th most populous city in Montana. It is the principal city of the Helena Micropolitan Statistical Area, which includes all of Lewis and Clark and Jefferson counties; its population is 83,058 according to the 2020 Census.The local daily newspaper is the Independent Record. The city is served by Helena Regional Airport (HLN).

Helena High School is a public high school for grades 9 through 12 located in Helena, Montana, United States. It is part of the Helena Public School District. Founded in September 1876, it is the oldest high school in the state of Montana. A new building was completed in August 1935 and it was almost destroyed a few months later in the 1935 Helena earthquake. In 1955, the building became Helena Junior High School (now Helena Middle School) and Helena High School moved into its present location at 1300 Billings Avenue, just off Montana Avenue.

The 1935 Helena earthquake occurred at 22:48:02 MDT on October 18 in Montana, with an epicenter near Helena. It had a magnitude of 6.2 on the surface wave magnitude scale and a maximum perceived intensity of VIII (Severe) on the Mercalli intensity scale. The temblor on that date was the largest of a series of earthquakes that also included a large aftershock on October 31 of magnitude 6.0 and a maximum intensity of VIII. Two people died in the mainshock and two others died as a result of the October 31 aftershock. Property damage was over $4 million.
