Hoofddorp is a railway station in Hoofddorp, Netherlands located on the Weesp–Leiden railway.

Haarlemmermeer (Dutch pronunciation: [ˌɦaːrlɛmərˈmeːr] (listen)) is a municipality in the west of the Netherlands, in the province of North Holland. Haarlemmermeer is a polder, consisting of land reclaimed from water. The name Haarlemmermeer means 'Haarlem's lake', referring to the body of water from which the region was reclaimed in the 19th century. Haarlemmermeer's main town is Hoofddorp, which has a population of 76,660. Hoofddorp, along with the rapidly growing towns of Nieuw-Vennep and Badhoevedorp, are part of the Randstad agglomeration. The main international airport of the Netherlands, Schiphol, is located in Haarlemmermeer.

Hoofddorp (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈɦoːvdɔr(ə)p]; lit. 'Main Village') is the main town of the municipality of Haarlemmermeer, in the province of North Holland, the Netherlands. In 2021, the population was 77,885. The town was founded in 1853, immediately after the Haarlemmermeer had been drained.

In 2001, the village of Rijsenhout had 3072 inhabitants. The built-up area of the town was 0.63 km², and contained 1237 residences. The wider statistical area of Rijsenhout has a population of around 4540.

Holland is a geographical region and former province on the western coast of the Netherlands. From the 10th to the 16th century, Holland proper was a unified political region within the Holy Roman Empire as a county ruled by the counts of Holland. By the 17th century, the province of Holland had risen to become a maritime and economic power, dominating the other provinces of the newly independent Dutch Republic. The name Holland has frequently been used informally to refer to the whole of the country of the Netherlands. This casual usage is commonly accepted in other countries, and is even employed by many Dutch themselves. However, some in the Netherlands (particularly those from regions outside Holland or the west) find it undesirable or misrepresentative to use the term for the whole country. In January 2020, the Netherlands officially dropped its support of the word Holland for the whole country, which included a logo redesign that changed "Holland" to "NL".

The 2002 Floriade international horticultural exposition took place from April 6 to October 20, 2002, in Haarlemmermeer, Netherlands, with a theme of Contribution of Horticulture in the quality of life in the 21st century. Recognised by the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), the festival covered 65 hectares and had 30 participating countries.Across the Floriade site is the Geniedijk, part of the Defence Line of Amsterdam, while the "Lake Side" was located in the Haarlemmermeer Woods. From the artificial mountain, visitors had a substantial view of the area. The Zuidtangent was opened around the same time as the Floriade, with temporary additional stops opened along the north and south entrances to the festival. The north stop is still occasionally used during events and festivals held on the site of the Floriade. The 2002 Floriade was also the site of the Spike and Suzy album, The Bright Floriade.

Nieuw-Vennep is a railway station in Nieuw-Vennep, Netherlands located on the Weesp–Leiden railway. It the second station in Nieuw Vennep; there existed an earlier one on the Hoofddorp–Leiden railway (commonly referred to as the Haarlemmermeerspoorlijn; from Aalsmeer to Haarlem, via Hoofddorp and Leiden). This station opened in 1912 and closed in 1936. The current station is serviced by regional trains and opened on 31 May 1981. It is operated by the Nederlandse Spoorwegen.

't Kabel is a hamlet in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Haarlemmermeer, and lies just southeast of Nieuw-Vennep and about 6 km southwest of Hoofddorp. Kabel has a population of around 100.

Burgerveen is a village in the western Netherlands. It is located in the municipality of Haarlemmermeer, North Holland, about halfway between Amsterdam and The Hague. The current village was first mentioned in 1867 as Burgerveen. It is named after the village which was lost in the Haarlemmermeer which was named after the burgrave of Leiden. The old village was abandoned by 1417, and lost in the lake shortly after 1613.

The Westeinderplassen ("West End Lakes") are a complex of lakes belonging mostly to the territory of Aalsmeer, Netherlands. Their total area is about 10 square kilometres (2,500 acres)2, making it the largest freshwater body of water in the Randstad area.

Nieuw-Vennep is a town in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is located near the capital city Amsterdam as well as Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. It has a population of 31,415 (2021), and is a part of the municipality of Haarlemmermeer, which ranks in top 15% of Dutch municipalities by income level.

Leimuiderbrug is a hamlet in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Haarlemmermeer, and lies about 11 km west of Amsterdam. Leimuiderbrug has a population of around 40.
