Kalslagen en Bilderdam is a former municipality in the Dutch province of North Holland. It existed between 1817 and 1854, and was sometimes simply called Kalslagen.The municipality covered the hamlet of Calslagen and a number of polders to the south, including part of the hamlet of Bilderdam. In 1854, the municipality was divided between Aalsmeer, Uithoorn, and Leimuiden; the hamlet Calslagen itself became a part of the municipality Aalsmeer.

Until 1854, Calslagen (then spelled "Kalslagen") was a separate municipality, under the name of Kalslagen en Bilderdam.Calslagen is not a statistical entity, and the postal authorities have placed it under Kudelstaart. Calslagen has place name signs. It was home to 33 people in 1840. Nowadays it consists of about 35 houses and about 10 house boats.

Kudelstaart is a town in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Aalsmeer, and lies about 10 km southeast of Hoofddorp. The village was first mentioned in 1237 as Sconedorpe. The current name is a combination of "fish net" and "long, thin piece of land". Kudelstaart developed around 1200 as a peat excavation settlement. In the 13th century, it was split between Holland and Utrecht. In 1724, the heerlijkheid was bought by the city of Amsterdam.

Aalsmeer (Dutch: [aːlsˈmeːr] (listen)) is a municipality and a town in the Netherlands, in the province of North Holland. Its name is derived from the Dutch for eel (aal) and lake (meer). Aalsmeer is bordered by the Westeinderplassen lake, the largest open water of the Randstad, and the Ringvaart Canal. The town is located 13 km (8 mi) southwest of Amsterdam. The town is sometimes referred to as the flower capital of the world, as the largest flower auction in the world is based in Aalsmeer, along with numerous nurseries and an experimental station for floriculture.

Aalsmeerderbrug (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈaːlsmeːrdərˌbrɵx]) is a hamlet in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Haarlemmermeer, and lies about 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) southeast of Hoofddorp. Aalsmeerderbrug has a population of around 500.

Schiphol-Rijk is an industrial estate in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of Amsterdam Schiphol Airport and lies in the municipality of Haarlemmermeer. Schiphol-Rijk is named after the village Rijk that was demolished in the 1950s to make way for an extension of Schiphol Airport.TUI fly Netherlands has its head office in Schiphol-Rijk. Before its dissolution, Amsterdam Airlines also had its head office in Schiphol-Rijk.

Rijsenhout is a village in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Haarlemmermeer, and lies about 6 km southeast of Hoofddorp. In 2001, the village of Rijsenhout had 3072 inhabitants. The built-up area of the town was 0.63 km², and contained 1237 residences. The wider statistical area of Rijsenhout has a population of around 4540.

FC Aalsmeer is an association football club from Aalsmeer, Netherlands. The club was founded on Augustus 1, 2014 through a merger of VV Aalsmeer and RKAV Aalsmeer. The two clubs had already partially merged in 2010 combining their youth football departments as Young Aalsmeer United. FC Aalsmeer has leading Saturday and Sunday squads and a total of 6 Saturday teams, 6 Sunday teams, 1 women's football team, 1 seniors team, and many youth teams. It plays at Sportpark Hornmeer.

KLM Cityhopper Flight 433 was a Saab 340B, registered as PH-KSH, which crashed during an emergency landing on 4 April 1994 and killing 3 occupants, including the captain. Flight 433 was a routine scheduled flight from Amsterdam, the Netherlands, to Cardiff, Wales. The accident was caused by inadequate pilot training and faulty failure sensor, leading to loss of control during go-around.

Burgerveen is a village in the western Netherlands. It is located in the municipality of Haarlemmermeer, North Holland, about halfway between Amsterdam and The Hague. The current village was first mentioned in 1867 as Burgerveen. It is named after the village which was lost in the Haarlemmermeer which was named after the burgrave of Leiden. The old village was abandoned by 1417, and lost in the lake shortly after 1613.

Hoofddorp is a railway station in Hoofddorp, Netherlands located on the Weesp–Leiden railway.

The Hoofddorp train accident in the Dutch municipality Haarlemmermeer took place on 30 November 1992. Whilst en route to Vlissingen, a Koploper-type passenger train derailed at about 7.15 near Hoofddorp. Five people were killed and 33 were injured in the accident. Two days earlier an international train from Amsterdam to Paris derailed at nearly the same location.
