The Tharandt Forest (German: Tharandter Wald) is a landscape in the centre of the German Free State of Saxony and lies southwest of the forest town of Tharandt, south of the town of Wilsdruff, roughly between the cities of Freiberg and Dresden. Administratively it is fully part of the borough of Tharandt today and bears a legally-protected strapline with the text: Tharandter Wald – schönster Wald Sachsens ("Tharandt Forest - Saxony's most beautiful forest"), which goes back to the tourist advertisements of the 1920s.

The Holy Way (German: Heilige Weg) came about as a result of the canonization of Bishop Benno of Meissen. It led from Bohemia to Meissen and ran between Grillenburg and Wilsdruff in the present-day district of Sächsische Schweiz-Osterzgebirge in the opposite direction and parallel with the Saxon St. James' Way (Sächsischen Jakobsweg). Original sections of the route have survived, for example in the Tharandt Forest between Grillenburg and Spechtshausen.

The transmitter Wilsdruff was a medium wave radio broadcasting facility near Wilsdruff, Germany. Until the 1990s there was a transmitter for 1044 kHz with 250 kilowatts transmission power. This was a 153-metre guyed steel tube mast, insulated with respect to ground. Since the mid nineties transmission power was only 20 kilowatts. The new transmitter is in a circular building on which the mast stands. The old transmitter of the fifties is a technical monument. The whole facility is a relic from the Joseph Stalin era with a high fence (double fence with dog track and watchtowers) which is still almost complete. Diesel engines are employed for an emergency power supply, modified from World War II submarine engines. The program "MDR info" transmitted from here on 1044 kHz until 2013. From 2001 to 2003 a second transmitter for MEGARADIO on 1431 kHz was operated. This also used the 153-metre-high (502 ft) steel tube mast as its transmitter. After its shutdown in 2013, the mast was torn down on August 1, 2021.

Klingenberg-Colmnitz station is a station on the Dresden–Werdau railway and the start of two former 750 mm gauge railways, the Klingenberg-Colmnitz–Oberdittmannsdorf and the Klingenberg-Colmnitz–Frauenstein railways, in the municipality of Klingenberg in the German state of Saxony. The station is the top station of the Tharandter Steige ("Tharandt climb").

Wilsdruff (German pronunciation: [ˈvɪlsˌdʁʊf] ) is a town in the Sächsische Schweiz-Osterzgebirge, in Saxony, Germany, with 14,444 inhabitants (2020). It is situated 14 km west of Dresden centre. Kesselsdorf is one of its subdivisions. Near Wilsdruff there is a facility for high power broadcasting, the Wilsdruff transmitter. Wilsdruff is home to KNOX, a traditional incense manufacturer and magnussoft, a computer game developer. In 2017 the town made headlines as 36% of the population voted the German right wing party AfD (Alternative fuer Deutschland) while in the same year only 10 asylum seekers sought refuge in Wilsdruff.

The Graben Tour (German: Grabentour) is a mining history footpath in the north of the former district of Freiberg in the German Free State of Saxony. It follows the course of an old mining water channel, in the valley of the Bobritzsch, from Krummenhennersdorf to Reinsberg.

Bobritzsch-Hilbersdorf is a municipality in the Mittelsachsen district of Saxony, Germany, created with effect from 1 January 2012 by the merger of Bobritzsch and Hilbersdorf.

Bobritzsch is a former municipality in the district of Mittelsachsen, in Saxony, Germany. With effect from 1 January 2012, it has merged with Hilbersdorf, forming the new municipality of Bobritzsch-Hilbersdorf.Bobritzsch is located some 28 km southwest of Dresden, 15 km west of Dippoldiswalde, 9 km northwest of Frauenstein, 10 km east of Brand-Erbisdorf and about 8 km east of Freiberg. Bobritzsch lies at the foot of the Eastern Ore Mountains. The small river Bobritzsch flows through Bobritzsch from south to north. The Ortsteil Naundorf is on the Bundesstraße 173, between Freiberg and Dresden.

Triebischtal is a former municipality in the district of Meißen, in Saxony, Germany. Since 1 July 2012, it is part of the municipality Klipphausen.

The Forstbotanischer Garten Tharandt (lit. 'Forest Botanical Garden of Tharandt'; 33.4 hectares), also known as the Sächsisches Landesarboretum (‘Saxony State Arboretum’), is an arboretum maintained by the Dresden University of Technology. It is among the oldest arboreta in the world, and is located at Am Forstgarten 1, Tharandt, Saxony, Germany, and open daily except Friday in the warmer months. The arboretum was established in 1811 by Heinrich Cotta (1763–1844), founder of the Forestry College in Tharandt. In 1816, it was incorporated into the Royal Saxon Academy of Forestry, and in 1842 augmented by the Schweizerhaus Tharandt, a building in the Swiss style which now houses the arboretum museum. It has subsequently been expanded several times, most recently in 1998 with a new North American section (15 hectares). Today, the arboretum contains about 2,000 species and varieties of woody plants.
