Teltow railway station

Berlin-Lichterfelde Süd station is a Berlin S-Bahn station on the Anhalt Suburban Line in Lichterfelde in the Berlin borough of Steglitz-Zehlendorf. The station was the southern terminus for S-Bahn trains on the Anhalt Suburban Line between 1943 and 1951, between 1961 and 1984 and between 1998 and 2005. From 1951 until the building of the Berlin Wall, services continued past the city limits to nearby Teltow. The station was closed between 1984 and 1998. Since 2005, the trains have run to Teltow Stadt. Together with Osdorfer Straße station, this connects the Thermometersiedlung high-rise housing estate to the Berlin S-Bahn network.

Teltow Stadt (town) station is located about 500 metres (1,600 ft) east of the centre of Teltow in the German state Brandenburg to the south of Berlin on the Berlin-Lichterfelde Süd–Teltow Stadt railway. The line and the station were opened on 24 February 2005. It has two tracks next to an island platform and is located in a cutting. Mahlower Straße crosses over it on a bridge. Stairs and a lift connect the station to the street. Although the town of Teltow is in the Potsdam-Mittelmark district, the station is in the adjoining Teltow-Fläming district. The station should not be confused with Teltow railway station, which is 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) to the south-east on the Anhalt Railway itself, and is served by Regional-Express lines 3, 4 and 5.

The Berlin-Lichterfelde Süd–Teltow Stadt railway is a single-track railway in the German states of Berlin and Brandenburg. It is electrified by bottom contact third rail at 750 V DC and is used by the trains on line S25 of the Berlin S-Bahn. The line begins in Lichterfelde Süd station and branches on the outskirts of Berlin from the Anhalt Suburban Line. The line was opened to Teltow Stadt (Teltow town) in 2005. There were already plans for this line and an extension to Stahnsdorf in the period between the two world wars.

The AG Märkische Kleinbahn or MKB in Berlin is a German railway museum and heritage railway, founded in 1981, with legal status as a society since 1982. It has set itself the task of preserving historical railway vehicles and other items of railway technology (e.g. signalling equipment, communication and safety equipment) in an operational state or for museum display and to make them accessible to the public. Their centre of operations is the locomotive shed at Schönow.

Großbeeren is a municipality in the district of Teltow-Fläming in the German state of Brandenburg.

Berlin Osdorfer Straße station is a Berlin S-Bahn station on the Anhalt Suburban Line in Lichterfelde in the Berlin borough of Steglitz-Zehlendorf, which is served by S-Bahn line S25 and S-Bahn line S26. It was put into operation in 1998 and is thus one of the newest Berlin S-Bahn stations.

The McNair Barracks was a US Army installation in Lichterfelde, a locality in southwest Berlin, Germany. The barracks were named after Lieutenant General Lesley J. McNair, an American Army officer who served in World War I and World War II and was killed in an infamous friendly fire incident on 25 July 1944 in the Battle of Normandy. The barracks housed the Infantry and Artillery units of the U.S. Army Berlin Brigade.

Großbeeren station is a station in the town of Großbeeren on the Anhalt Railway south of Berlin. The station, which was inaugurated in 1841, is one of the oldest railway stations in the state of Brandenburg. The now disused station building is a listed building.

Teltow ['tɛltoː] is both a geological plateau and also a historical region in the German states of Brandenburg and Berlin. As an historical region, the Teltow was one of the eight territories out of which the March of Brandenburg was formed in the 12th and 13th centuries. As a result of the Teltow War (1239–1245) the question of territorial lordship of the newly created heart of the expanding march was finally decided here. Between 1835 and 1952 there was also a county, Teltow district; in addition a town immediately south of Berlin, in the present-day county of Potsdam-Mittelmark, bears the name Teltow.

The Berlin Document Center (BDC) was created in Berlin, Germany, after the end of World War II. Its task was to centralize the collection of documents from the time of Nazism, which were needed for the preparation of the Nuremberg Trials against war criminals. The BDC was under American administration until 1994, when the German Federal Archives (Bundesarchiv) was allowed to take control of the BDC. While the paper records remained in Germany, the entire collection was microfilmed and made available at the National Archives in Washington, DC, where researchers have much better access unhindered by restrictive German privacy laws now in effect in Berlin. The files were rescued from destruction in May 1945 when they were discovered by U.S. Counter Intelligence Corps (CIC) Agents at a paper mill in Freimann, Germany, where they had been shipped by the Nazi leadership to be pulped.

The Schwimmhalle Finckensteinallee, an indoor swimming pool in Berlin's Finckensteinallee was completed in 1938 as a training facility for the SS regiment Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler. An outstanding example of architecture from the National Socialist era, it was used by the American military from 1945-1994. Due to its historical and architectural significance, the building received listed building protection in 2001. After being comprehensively restored between 2008-2014, its doors were opened to the public in August 2014, since which the pool has been used by schools and clubs and for sports events. The pool is located in the Lichterfelde district of Berlin.
