Founded in 1954, formerly Manila Bethel Temple, The Cathedral of Praise is a Christian church founded in 1954 by Ptr. Lester Sumrall. Plaza Rueda is a public square in Ermita, Manila, bounded by Taft Avenue to the west, United Nations Avenue to the north and General Luna Street to the east. Originally a low, swampy ground, the plaza was established by the Municipal Board of Manila, known today the Manila City Council, on November 15, 1915, and dedicated to Spanish journalist and poet Salvador Rueda, who visited the Philippines that year.

Avenue begins at a fork in Quirino Avenue Extension, Paz Mendoza Guazon Street, and Cristobal Street, just west of Pandacan. It continues through the area of Tanque and Isla de Provisor in northern Paco district passing several rows of warehouses and a few institutional buildings. West of Taft Avenue lies busy Ermita district with a mix of hotels, offices and hospital buildings. Roxas Boulevard lies at its western terminus, with the U.S. Embassy in Manila as the terminating vista. The avenue is served by the United Nations LRT station.

It is situated above the intersection of Taft and United Nations Avenues. The station is named after United Nations Avenue, which in turn is named after the United Nations organization. United Nations station is also near educational institutions such as the Technological University of the Philippines, the Philippine Normal University, Adamson University, Santa Isabel College Manila, Emilio Aguinaldo College, Araullo High School and Manila Science High School. It is convenient to several tourist destinations including Rizal Park, the National Museum of Fine Arts, the National Museum of Anthropology, and the National Museum of Natural History. It is also adjacent to the World Health Organization Western Pacific Region office and National Bureau of Investigation headquarters. It is also near public squares such as Plaza Salamanca and Plaza Rueda, as well as Paco Park. United Nations station is the seventh stop from Baclaran and the twelfth from Fernando Poe Jr.

Casino Español de Manila is a club established in 1893 by Spaniards living in the Philippines as their exclusive venue for recreational and social activities. It later opened its doors to Filipino members to foster Spanish-Filipino ties in the country. It is located at No. 855 Teodoro M. Kalaw Extension, Ermita, Manila. It is one of the three Casino Español clubhouses in the country, the others being in Cebu (built in 1920 and still operating) and Iloilo (built in 1926 and left in ruins after World War II destruction).

The Paco Park (originally named as Cementerio General de Dilao) is a recreational garden and was once Manila's municipal cemetery built by the Dominicans during the Spanish colonial period. It is located on General Luna Street and at the east end of Padre Faura Street in Paco, Manila, Philippines. Paco Park has also become a popular venue for TV and film shootings, weddings, pre-nuptial shoots, private gatherings and cultural programs.One of its exposures in a movie was in Starting Over Again (2014 film) , wherein most of the memorable life of Ginny with Marco was shot in this place. Also, in the start of the movie, Marco was seen doing a history lectures to his other students, for he was a history professor in the movie before being a businessman.

Plaza Olivia Salamanca (Filipino: Liwasang Olivia Salamanca), also known simply as Plaza Salamanca, is a public square in Ermita, Manila, bounded by Taft Avenue to the east, Teodoro M. Kalaw Avenue to the north and General Luna Street to the west. It is dedicated to Olivia Salamanca, one of the Philippines' first female physicians, with a historical marker dedicated to her being installed in 1955. Unlike other plazas in the City of Manila, Plaza Olivia Salamanca also falls under the jurisdiction of the National Parks Development Committee, the agency responsible for maintaining the neighboring Rizal Park.

Originally, Ermita and its neighboring district Malate were posh neighborhoods for Manila's high society during the early 20th century where large, grandiose mansions once stood. Ermita and its surroundings were heavily bombed and flattened during the Second World War after it became a battleground during the Manila massacre. After the war, Ermita and its twin district, Malate, had undergone commercialization resulting in a shift from being a sprawling upscale suburb to a commercial district.
