Mottram St Andrew is a village and civil parish in Cheshire, England. At the 2011 census, it had a population of 493. An affluent village in the Cheshire countryside, it is in the Golden Triangle of Alderley Edge, Prestbury and Wilmslow, 15 miles from Manchester. Mottram Hall is a hotel and golfing centre; Lower Manor is the former home of the Mottershead family. Sportsmen who have lived in the area include footballers Peter Crouch, Wayne Rooney, Owen Hargreaves, Mark Hughes, Carlos Tevez, Benjamin Mendy and Mario Balotelli, cricketer Andrew Flintoff, and snooker player Alex Higgins.Rostrum was founded under the Yew Tree at Greendale Farm, Mottram St Andrew on 21 July 1923.

Whirley Hall is a country house standing to the north of the village of Henbury, Cheshire, England. The house dates from about 1670. Additions and alterations were made during the 18th century and in the 1950s, when the house was restored and wings were added at the sides. The house is constructed in brick with buff sandstone dressings, and has a Kerridge stone-slate roof with stone ridges. It has three storeys and symmetrical five-bay front. Between the storeys, and above the top storey, are brick bands. The lower two storeys contain 20th-century wooden-framed mullioned and transomed windows. In the top storey are two-light casement windows. Above these are two shaped gables, each surmounted by an obelisk finial, and containing an elliptical window. There are single-storey, two-bay extensions on each side of the house. In the roof of the house is a stone inscribed with the date 1599, which is considered to have been removed from an earlier timber-framed house. The house is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II* listed building. The gate pier in front of the house is a Grade II listed building.

Legh Hall stands to the east of the village of Mottram St Andrew, Cheshire, England. It was built in the middle of the 18th century for William Brocklehurst of Macclesfield. The house was built to replace Legh Old Hall. Additions were made in the late 19th century, with alterations in the 20th century. The house is constructed in red brick with yellow headers. It is roofed with Welsh slate. Its architectural style is Georgian. The house is in 2½ storeys, and has a symmetrical five-bay front. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building.

Legh Old Hall stands to the east of the village of Mottram St Andrew, Cheshire, England. It was built in the later part of the 16th century, with rebuilding in the 17th century. Alterations were made during the 20th century. It is constructed in coursed buff sandstone rubble, and has a Kerridge stone-slate roof. The house has an H plan. It is in two storeys, with a four-bay front. The house was replaced by Legh Hall. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated house Grade II listed building.

Normans Hall is a Tudor house which stands to the southwest of the village of Prestbury, Cheshire, England. It is an L-shaped house, the south range dating from the 16th century. Additions were made in the 17th century, and repairs were carried out in the early 18th century. The east range was built in 1921 for H. B. Crook, and was designed by Henry Boddington. The south range is partly timber-framed, and partly brick, standing on a stone plinth. The east wing is in brick, with a timber-framed gabled bay dated 1921 at the junction of the ranges. The roofs are in Kerridge stone slate. The hall is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building.

The Alderley Edge Mines are located on the escarpment in Alderley Edge, Cheshire. Archaeological evidence indicates that copper mining took place here during Roman times and the Bronze Age, and written records show that mining continued here from the 1690s up to the 1920s. The site was the location of the Alderley Edge Landscape Project and the Pot Shaft Hoard. Many of the mines are owned by the National Trust. The Derbyshire Caving Club have leased the access rights, and they continue to explore and search for areas of mining that have been closed for centuries.

One of the classic locations for the study of Triassic sandstones in the UK is at Alderley Edge in Cheshire. Numerous scientists from the early 19th century up to the present day have studied the area and it is a popular field site for universities around the UK. The sandstones also provide important insights into the nature of continental natural gas and petroleum reservoirs.

St Catherine's Church, Over Alderley, also known as St Catherine's Church, Birtles, stands in an isolated position in Birtles Lane, near to Birtles Hall, in the civil parish of Over Alderley, Cheshire, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II* listed building. It was originally a private chapel for the Hibbert family and is now a parish church. It is unusual in that its tower is octagonal. It contains furnishings and stained glass from Germany and the Netherlands. The church is listed in England's Thousand Best Churches. It is an active Anglican church in the diocese of Chester, the archdeaconry of Macclesfield and the deanery of Knutsford. Its benefice has been combined with that of St Philip & St James, Alderley Edge since 2022.

The King's School, Macclesfield, is an independent school for day pupils in Prestbury, Cheshire, England, and a member of the Headmasters' and Headmistresses' Conference. It was founded in 1502 by Sir John Percyvale, a former Lord Mayor of London, as Macclesfield Grammar School.

Mottram Hall (also known as Mottram New Hall or the Mottram Hall Hotel) is a former country house to the northeast of the village of Mottram St. Andrew, Cheshire, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II* listed building. It is not to be confused with Mottram Old Hall (alongside the access road 400m to the west). The house was built around 1750 by William Wright for his son. It is constructed of Flemish bond orange brick with buff sandstone dressings, with a Kerridge stone slate roof, nine brick chimneys, and a facade with projecting end pavilions which have 20th-century extensions. From the mid-1970s the building has been used as a hotel, and from 2014 to 2018 as part of the QHotels group.In 2012–13 the hotel underwent improvements and refurbishment at a cost of £5.5 million. This included a new restaurant, refurbishment of bedrooms, creation of conference suites, and restoration of the Garden Suite. In September 2018 the hotel was sold by the real estate investment company Aprirose to the hotel group Champneys (owned by Dorothy and Stephen Purdew).

Henbury is a village and civil parish in the unitary authority of Cheshire East and the ceremonial county of Cheshire, England. According to the 2001 census, the entire civil parish had a population of 594. The village is 3.8 miles (6.1 km) west of Macclesfield on the A537. Henbury became a civil parish in 1845. It has an Anglican church, the Church of St Thomas, two pubs, and a grocery.The village hall hosts a number of functions throughout the year with an active social committee. There is also a Millennium Green in Henbury.
