Harrisburg 19th Street Armory

The John A. F. Hall Manor is a neighborhood of mixed-income housing in South Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, managed by the Harrisburg Housing Authority and named after former mayor John A. F. Hall. Built in 1953, there are 540 apartments in 54 buildings spread over 43 acres. The HHA plans to re-submit an application for a planning grant under the Choice Neighborhood Program, and apply funds to reconfigure the neighborhood with more vibrant amenities currently non-existent, and eventually redevelop it in the long term. In the adjacent John N. Hall Club House (named after unrelated John Newton Hall, a late civic philanthropist from Camp Hill) is one of the Harrisburg Boys & Girls Clubs of America locations. Also present is a community center with day-care and on-site family services and medical facilities.

The Harrisburg Incinerator, now under private operation as Susquehanna Resource Management Complex (SRMC), is a waste-to-energy incinerator in South Harrisburg, Pennsylvania built and operated by the city from 1972 to 2003, which was an ongoing source of contention due to toxic air emissions and unforeseen costs which greatly contributed to the bankruptcy of the city. Since December 23, 2013, it is now owned by Lancaster County Solid Waste Management Authority (LCSWMA) and operated by Covanta.

Spring Creek is a 6.0-mile-long (9.7 km) tributary of the Susquehanna River in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, in the United States. Spring Creek rises in Lower Paxton Township, flowing through adjacent areas such as Paxtang, Oakleigh, Progress, Lawnton, and Colonial Park. The stream flows in a westerly direction, eventually joining the Susquehanna River in southern Harrisburg. The tributary Slotznick Run enters Spring Creek at Progress.Spring Creek parallels the 2-mile stretch of the Cameron Parkway section of the Capital Area Greenbelt in South Harrisburg. Spring Creek joins the Susquehanna at Harrisburg, just near the confluence of the Paxton Creek. The historical Rutherford Springhouse was built over a Paxtang portion of the creek in the 1740s to protect the water from poisoning by the Native Susquehannock Indians. Notably, Paxtang Park was located along the creek's banks.

Paxton Creek is a 13.9-mile-long (22.4 km) tributary of the Susquehanna River in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania in the United States. The Paxton Creek watershed covers an area of 27.4 square miles (71 km2) and joins the Susquehanna River at South Harrisburg, Harrisburg.The name Paxton, or Paxtang, is derived the Susquehannock term "Peshtank", meaning "where the waters stand" or "the place of springs". It is born from two branches on the southern slopes of Blue Mountain to form the main stem in Lower Paxton Township. It then forms Wildwood Lake in Susquehanna Township, artificially formed in 1908 by damming the creek for recreational activities. Later, it extends downstream approximately 6.2 miles to Harrisburg as a concrete channel built in 1914 (against the wishes of Warren Manning) to mitigate urban runoff and flooding, which is common after severe storms. This urban section of the confluence has been subject to planned restoration efforts, with a 2018 study published by PennDOT stating a goal aiming to "restore the creek’s ecosystem and improve its functions and services" by reversing the negative effects of the concrete channel and its degradation. Where the stream passes through the city it receives the discharges from several large sewers, which, during dry weather, pollute the water and foul the shores and bottom of the creek to a very objectionable extent.

WHGB (1400 AM) is a commercial radio station in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The station is owned by Cumulus Media and broadcasts a sports radio format. Most programming is supplied by the CBS Sports Radio Network, in which parent company Cumulus has a financial interest. Programming is also heard on two FM translators, W237DE at 95.3 MHz and W243BR at 96.5 MHz.

Allison Hill (also known as The Hill) is a neighborhood in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, in the United States. It is located directly east of downtown Harrisburg on a bluff overlooking the older original borough (now city) along the Susquehanna River. The Hill comprises some sub-neighborhoods, such as Hillside Village; others have nicknames such as "The Ville" and the "Third Ward". Primarily, it can be separated into three smaller neighborhoods: North Allison Hill (from Route 22 to State Street), Central Allison Hill (from State Street to Market Street), and South Allison Hill (from Market Street to the railroad tracks). It was named after William Allison, an early Harrisburg landowner who owned farms on the bluff outside of the then-Borough. First referred to as "Allison's Farm" or "Allison's Hill Farm", it finally became shortened to "Allison Hill" as the City expanded.

The Mount Pleasant Historic District is an historic district in the western part of the Allison Hill neighborhood of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. It is located from Market to Brookwood and Allison Hill Bluff to 19th street.Home to mostly Victorian architecture, it is the oldest section of Allison Hill, and represents Harrisburg's early development to the east of downtown. It was entered onto the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

South Harrisburg (or South Side) is a neighborhood located in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Its southern border is Steelton, Pennsylvania; the eastern border is the Capital Area Greenbelt; its northern border Interstate 83; its western border the Susquehanna River. South Harrisburg consists of a mix of industrial areas on its outskirts with several housing developments located centrally and eastern, with auto-centric commercial areas in the north. PennDOT's state headquarters building for Driver & Vehicle Services is also located within South Harrisburg along the river. Notably, the area also contains the city's long contested Harrisburg Incinerator located off of Cameron Street, which introduces environmental justice concerns for nearby residents, many of whom fall into low- and moderate-income (LMI) categories. There are, however, large amounts of undeveloped green spaces and access to parks and trails, particularly the Capital Area Greenbelt.

Bellevue Park, is a neighborhood in East Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. It is known as Pennsylvania’s first fully planned residential community. Bellevue Park is characterized by winding lanes, wooded topography, underground utilities and period street lighting. Impressive mansions and open preserves are protected by stringent covenants.

Harrisburg High School is a public high school located in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. This large urban high school is one of two public high schools operated by the Harrisburg City School District. In 2015, enrollment was reported as 1,165 pupils in 9th through 12th grades. The school employed 89 teachers.In 2014, Harrisburg High School enrollment was reported as 1,146 pupils in 9th through 12th grades, with 81% of pupils eligible for a free lunch due to family poverty. Additionally, 29% of pupils received special education services, while 0.09% of pupils were identified as gifted. The school employed 117 teachers. According to the PA Department of Education 2% of the teachers were rated "Non‐Highly Qualified" under the federal No Child Left Behind Act. The school is a federally designated Title I school.

Paxtang is a borough in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, United States. As of the 2020 census it had a population of 1,640. The borough is a suburb of Harrisburg and is one of the earliest colonial settlements in South Central Pennsylvania.

Paxtang Park is a current trailhead area in East Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and former 40-acre (160,000 m2) trolley park. It originally existed from 1823 to 1929 between Derry Street and Paxton Street along Spring Creek and has reopened since 2020. The original park contained two roller coasters, the Coaster Flyer and the Jack Rabbit.
