Geisel (river)

Merseburg (German: [ˈmɛʁzəbʊʁk] ) is a town in central Germany in southern Saxony-Anhalt, situated on the river Saale, and approximately 14 km south of Halle (Saale) and 30 km west of Leipzig. It is the capital of the Saalekreis district. It had a diocese founded by Archbishop Adalbert of Magdeburg. The University of Merseburg is located within the town. Merseburg has around 35,000 inhabitants.

Merseburg Hauptbahnhof is the main station of the town of Merseburg in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt. It is located on the Halle–Bebra railway (Thuringian Railway) and Deutsche Bahn assigns it to category 4. Merseburg is located in the tariff area of the Mitteldeutscher Verkehrsverbund (central Germany transport association).

The Merseburg University of Applied Sciences (German: Hochschule Merseburg - University of Applied Sciences) is an institution of higher education (a vocational university) located in the town of Merseburg, Germany. It was established on April 1, 1992. Its precursor was the Technical University Leuna-Merseburg (de).

Merseburg Cathedral (German: Merseburger Dom) is the proto-cathedral of the former Bishopric of Merseburg in Merseburg, Germany. The mostly Gothic church is considered an artistic and historical highlight in southern Saxony-Anhalt.

Geiseltalsee Solarpark, also known as Geiseltalsee, is a 4 MWp photovoltaic power plant located in Merseburg, Germany. The power plant was constructed by BP Solar using 24,864 BP solar modules. The power station was completed in 2004

Schkopau is a municipality in the Saalekreis district, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany.

Luppe is a river of Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It lies in the floodplain around the confluence of the rivers Saale and White Elster, near the cities Leipzig and Halle. It flows into the Saale in Schkopau. Until the 1930s, when the Neue Luppe was constructed, the Luppe was a distributary of the White Elster. The Nahle and the Alte Luppe are relicts of the former course of the Luppe. The remaining Luppe flows from near Kleinliebenau to the west, and no longer receives water from its former upper course.

Leuna-Kötzschau was a Verwaltungsgemeinschaft ("collective municipality") in the Saalekreis district, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. The seat of the Verwaltungsgemeinschaft was in Leuna. Leuna is a town in Saxony-Anhalt, eastern Germany, south of Merseburg and Halle, on the river Saale. The town is known for the Leunawerke, at 13 km2 one of the biggest chemical industrial complexes in Germany, where a very wide range of chemicals and plastics is produced. In 1960, Leuna's population was nearly 10,000, but after reunification high unemployment rates and poor living conditions, including pollution from nearby industries, caused significant outward migration. Before the 31 December 2009 incorporation of ten neighbouring municipalities, its population had declined to 6,670.

Geusa is a village and a former municipality within the district Saalekreis, in the federal state of Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Since January 1, 2010, it is within the town limits of Merseburg.
