Battle of Wahoo Swamp

Wahoo is an unincorporated community in Sumter County, Florida, United States. First settled by the Timucua, the area was eventually settled by the Seminoles. During the Second Seminole War, Wahoo and the surrounding area served as shelter to the Seminoles and as the site of several skirmishes. After the war, white settlers migrated to the area and established a thriving town. Today, the rural community is connected to the nearby town of Bushnell. Wahoo is home to a middle-aged population whose ancestry mainly hails from Europe. As for the battle site, it is protected by the state of Florida for ecological purposes.

Nobleton Wayside Park a 2-acre (8,100 m2) park at 29061 Lamkin Drive in Nobleton, Florida that includes a boat ramp launching point on the Withlacoochee River as well as a shelter, basketball court, and picnic tables. Lamkin Drive is a loop road along the north side of County Road 476, the east end of which is at the intersection of Edgewater Avenue, which was once part of State Road 39. Lake Townsen Regional Park is a park located in northeastern Hernando County, Florida, United States. Although Hernando County Department of Parks gives the address as being in Brooksville, it is actually closer to Istachatta. The park occupies 375 acres (152 ha) and includes trails for jogging, hiking, bicycling, and horseback riding. These trails connect with the Withlacoochee State Trail. The park also has fields for baseball, basketball, volleyball and horseshoes as well a picnic areas and a playground.

The Sumter Correctional Institution is a state prison for men located in Bushnell, Sumter County, Florida, owned and operated by the Florida Department of Corrections. This facility has a mix of security levels, including minimum, medium, and close, and houses both adult male and young male offenders. Sumter first opened in 1965 and has a maximum capacity of 1639 prisoners. Sumter Correctional Institution is the location of the state's only Basic Training Unit for Youthful Offenders in the Department of Corrections. After completing the 120 day program with a heavy course load of drill practice, education, physical training and a highly regimented daily schedule inmates are released to serve the remainder of their sentence on probation the day of graduation. An alleged sexual assault against a 17-year-old inmate by six other prisoners in July 2013 triggered a federal lawsuit against the institution.

The district runs roughly along Orange Avenue from South Old Floral City Road to South Annie Terrace and South Aroostook Way from Orange to Tsala Apopka Lake. It contains 26 historic buildings and 2 structures.

Floral City Heritage Hall Museum is a museum in Floral City, Florida, United States. The museum is located in a Fire Station building in downtown Floral City. The fire station closed in January 2000 and the museum opened on December 4, 2009, for Floral City Heritage Days as the Heritage Museum & Country Store. It includes two galleries, a library, media center, and store. Offices, storage and a kitchen were under construction in 2014. In 2014, its website stated the museum is open Friday and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. as well as for special events. The museum is located next to the Community Building and Library on Orange Avenue, one block east of U.S. Highway 41. It is operated by the Floral City Heritage Council.
