Lyndon, Solihull

Lyndon School is a co-educational secondary school in Solihull, West Midlands, England. It is situated near to the Birmingham boundary and draws pupils from both Solihull and Birmingham. The school regularly houses half term sports clubs. It also held a specialist Humanities College status between 2006 and 2010 when the Specialist Schools Programme ended. The school converted to academy status in September 2015.

Olton is an area/suburban village within the Metropolitan Borough of Solihull in the West Midlands, England. In the 13th century, the Lords of the Manor moved their seat and formed a new settlement, at the junction of two major roads. It was then that Ulverlei was being referred to as ‘Oulton’ (meaning ‘old town’) to distinguish itself from nearby Solihull. Historically within the county of Warwickshire, the village has gradually become contiguous with Solihull to the southeast, though it retains the character of a large independent village. It is located on the A41 between Solihull town centre 4 miles (6.4 km), Acocks Green, 2 miles (3.2 km) and Birmingham 5.7 miles (9.2 km). Dating back over a 1,000 years, it is a now a residential suburb. Many of the large houses built in St. Bernard's Road, Grange Road and Kineton Green Road during the Victorian and Edwardian period form part of one of Solihull's conservation areas. Olton carries the motto ‘The Town in the Country’.

Olton Reservoir or Olton Mere (grid reference SP134815) is a canal feeder reservoir in the Olton district of Solihull, West Midlands, England. The reservoir, constructed in 1799 to supply the Grand Union Canal, was formed from marshland fed by Folly Brook. It was designed to hold 150 locks full of water, but this was not achieved until it was extended in 1834. It is the largest of the few areas of open water in Solihull and supports numerous waterfowl. The lake and its surroundings are privately owned by the Canal and River Trust and are leased to Olton Mere Sailing Club. The sailing club is run by a board of trustees.

Sheldon Country Park is a country park located in Sheldon, Birmingham, UK. Located at the far eastern edge of the city, the park covers an area of just over 300 acres of grassland, wetland, hedgerows and mature woodland. A small dairy farm dating from the 17th century, the Old Rectory, is located near the main entrance. The farm was home to the celebrated clergyman Thomas Bray between 1690 and 1721. The park's other attractions include three football pitches, a children's play area and a viewing platform for the nearby Birmingham International airport. Park rangers are also available to provide guided tours of the park.

Olton & West Warwickshire Hockey Club (Olton & West Warwick for short) is a field hockey club based at the West Warwickshire Sports Club in Grange Road, Olton, Solihull, West Midlands. King Edward VI Sheldon Heath Academy is a mixed secondary school and sixth form located in the Sheldon area of Birmingham, in the West Midlands of England.Previously known as Sheldon Heath School, the school gained specialist status as an Arts College and was renamed Sheldon Heath Community Arts College. In September 2010 the school converted to academy status and was renamed King Edward VI Sheldon Heath Academy. The school moved into a new building in 2013.It is a non-selective school which is sponsored by the Schools of King Edward VI in Birmingham Group. The group includes the grammar schools King Edward VI Aston School, King Edward VI Camp Hill School for Boys, King Edward VI Camp Hill School for Girls, King Edward VI Five Ways School and King Edward VI Handsworth School. King Edward VI Sheldon Heath Academy offers GCSEs and BTECs as programmes of study for pupils, while students in the sixth form have the option to study from a range of A-levels and further BTECs.

Sheldon is an area of east Birmingham, England. Historically part of Warwickshire, it is close to the border with the Metropolitan Borough of Solihull and Birmingham Airport. Sheldon is also one of the 69 electoral wards in Birmingham, and one of the four wards that make up the council constituency of Yardley. It covers an area of 2.3 square miles (6.0 km2; 1,500 acres). Areas covered by the ward are Lyndon Green, Well's Green, Sheldon itself and part of Garrett's Green. Sheldon was mentioned in the Domesday Book as Machitone, meaning "Macca's farm". A Mackadown Farm existed in the area until the First World War, however, it is only remembered through Mackadown Lane, a residential road.The suburb is home to the 300 acre Sheldon Country Park, a popular local attraction.
