Olton & West Warwickshire Hockey Club (Olton & West Warwick for short) is a field hockey club based at the West Warwickshire Sports Club in Grange Road, Olton, Solihull, West Midlands. The club runs a large number of teams featuring men's, women's, juniors and veteran sides.Olton & West Warwicks men's first X1 play in the Men's England Hockey League Division One North. and the women's first X1 play in the England Hockey League Investec Conference West.The women's team has gained significant honours - 2001–02 National League Runner-Up 2008–09 National League Runner-up 2001–02 Premiership Tournament Champions 2000–01 Cup Runner-Up 2001–02 Cup Runner-Up

Olton is an area/suburban village within the Metropolitan Borough of Solihull in the West Midlands, England. In the 13th century, the Lords of the Manor moved their seat and formed a new settlement, at the junction of two major roads. It was then that Ulverlei was being referred to as ‘Oulton’ (meaning ‘old town’) to distinguish itself from nearby Solihull. Historically within the county of Warwickshire, the village has gradually become contiguous with Solihull to the southeast, though it retains the character of a large independent village. It is located on the A41 between Solihull town centre 4 miles (6.4 km), Acocks Green, 2 miles (3.2 km) and Birmingham 5.7 miles (9.2 km). Dating back over a 1,000 years, it is a now a residential suburb. Many of the large houses built in St. Bernard's Road, Grange Road and Kineton Green Road during the Victorian and Edwardian period form part of one of Solihull's conservation areas. Olton carries the motto ‘The Town in the Country’.

Olton railway station serves the Olton area of Solihull, in the West Midlands of England. The station is operated by West Midlands Trains, and is also served by Chiltern Railways services. The entrance seen in the centre where the station's booking office is located leads into a tunnel which runs under the tracks providing an access staircase and lift to the island platform. The station also has a car park and bicycle racks.

Langley School is a secondary school with academy status situated in the Metropolitan Borough of Solihull, West Midlands. It has specialist status in the arts, languages and training. The school is a mixed, 11–16 comprehensive school with a current pupil roll of 1002. In September 2002 the school became a specialist Performing Arts College, in 2006 a specialist Language College and Training School.

Fox Hollies Hall was a manor house situated in Acocks Green, Fox Hollies, Birmingham, England, belonging to the Walker family. The Hall itself was built as a mock-Italianate in 1869 to replace the nearby Hyron Hall, and was commissioned by a retired merchant, Zaccheus Walker III. His father, Zaccheus Walker II, was an industrialist who was almost killed in the French Revolution had it not have been for his friendship with Robespierre. By 1880, Zaccheus' health was deteriorating, and the Hall passed into the ownership of his son, Lieutenant-Colonel Zaccheus Walker IV, who was working as a draftsman at this time. Lt. Col. Walker was the chairperson of many local Boards and Committees, who helped to organise outings for children in the local schools, and after buying land close to the Hall in 1912, sold off a majority of the land between 1925 and 1926, at a total of £44,746; and the sales of land helped the village of Acocks Green to expand into an urbanized community. Lt. Col. Walker died in 1930, and his funeral procession included his coffin draped with a Union Jack. By 1937, the decaying Hall was passed to the Parks Committee, and was demolished. The only surviving part of the hall are the pillars to the main gate, standing near a bus stop. Three tower blocks were built at the rear of the site in 1965, and the site of the hall itself is a public park.

The Burnt mound in Fox Hollies Park is a Bronze Age burnt mound archaeological feature located in Fox Hollies Park, in the Fox Hollies area of south Birmingham. It is a Scheduled Ancient Monument, having been scheduled by English Heritage (now Historic England) on 24 July 2002. It consists of an oval mound about 0.3m tall and about 14m by 9m in length. As of 2019 there are no plaques, explanatory boards or indeed any other features in the park to indicate its existence, and it is currently covered in plant growth.

Scorers is a cricket ground in Shirley, Solihull that is the home of Moseley Cricket Club, who played their first recorded match on the ground in 1956.Scorers has hosted Warwickshire County Cricket Club Second XI matches since 1972. A game apiece in the 1979, 1982 and 1986 ICC Trophy tournaments were held at the ground.The ground hosted Division Seven of the inaugural Women's Twenty20 Cup in 2009, and the Midlands and North Division Three of the 2010 Women's Twenty20 Cup. It also hosted Warwickshire Women matches between 2010 and 2015.The ground hosted its first international matches on 8 July 2013, with two Women's Twenty20 Internationals (WT20Is) between Ireland and Pakistan, both won by Pakistan. The ground hosted its first Women's One Day International two days later, between the same sides, again won by Pakistan. The ground went on to host three WT20Is between Ireland and South Africa in September 2014.In July 2023, the ground played host to its first Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy match, between Central Sparks and Western Storm, although the match was abandoned (with a toss).

Fox Hollies is an area of Birmingham, England, situated on the edge of Acocks Green district. It is named after the Fox Hollies Hall estate.It roughly includes the area around Fox Hollies Road (part of the A4040 Outer Ring Road), stretching from Acocks Green in the north, to Hall Green in the south. A showpiece housing estate was built to the east of Fox Hollies Road in the 1920s, around Fox Hollies Park. There was also a pub called the Fox Hollies at the junction of Fox Hollies Road and Olton Boulevard East, but this closed in 1997 and has since been demolished to make way for a supermarket.Until 2004, one of the Birmingham City Council wards was named Fox Hollies. This area is now divided between the Acocks Green and Springfield wards.The area is served by Spring Road railway station on the Birmingham to Stratford Line, and by several bus routes including the 11A/11C Outer Circle.

Lyndon School is a co-educational secondary school in Solihull, West Midlands, England. It is situated near to the Birmingham boundary and draws pupils from both Solihull and Birmingham. The school regularly houses half term sports clubs. It also held a specialist Humanities College status between 2006 and 2010 when the Specialist Schools Programme ended. The school converted to academy status in September 2015.

Palmers Rough is a local nature reserve and park located in Shirley, Solihull. It covers an area of approximately 7.3 hectares (18 acres) and consists of two separate woodland blocks; Palmers Coppice to the east, and Squires Coppice to the west. They are separated by open grassland and include for two football pitches and a small children's playground. A wide range of plants and animals makes Palmers Rough an important urban space and was therefore granted local nature reserve status in 2000. The presence of Palmers Rough is noted within the Domesday Book, and suggests that the woodland dates back over 900 years.A walk through the woods is especially rewarding in springtime when bluebells produce a vivid carpet of colour.

Lyndon is a district within the Metropolitan Borough of Solihull in the English county of the West Midlands. The population of the Lyndon Ward at the 2011 census was 13,574. It was the home of the Lyndon family. The home (Lyndon Manor) is long gone but became Olton Jubilee Park on Lyndon Rd. It was born in Acocks Green and named after the family home and the park. There is a local historical society with some knowledge of the family before they built the Manor. The ancient monument of Hob's Moat is nearby, as is Hatchford Brook. The place name "Lyndon" is Anglo-Saxon in origin and refers to a hill bearing a lime tree. The area is not now generally called Lyndon, but amenities such as schools and pubs have Lyndon in their title. Lyndon Ward elects its representatives on to Solihull Council three in every four years.

Archbishop Ilsley Catholic School is a coeducational Roman Catholic secondary school and sixth form located in Acocks Green, Birmingham, England. The school is named after Edward Ilsley, former Archbishop of Birmingham. Construction of the school commenced in 1955 and was completed in 1957. It is named after Archbishop Edward Ilsley, who built the first church in the village of Acocks Green in the early part of the 20th century. The school served many immigrant Catholic families who moved to Birmingham from the west coast of Ireland following World War II. The headteacher is Mr C Clinton. In 2003, the school was named as one of the best schools nationwide in the Chief Inspector's Report to Parliament. It also received Technology College status. In 2004, it was described as being the "Most Improved" school by the Specialist Schools Trust. The school was also the first winner of the Healthy Schools Award.Previously a voluntary aided school administered by Birmingham City Council, in May 2019 Archbishop Ilsley Catholic School converted to academy status. The school is now sponsored by the St Teresa of Calcutta Multi-Academy Company.
