The Diocese of Paterson (Latin: Dioecesis Patersonensis) is a Latin Church ecclesiastical territory, or diocese, of the Catholic Church in northern New Jersey. It is a suffragan diocese in the ecclesiastical province of the metropolitan Archdiocese of Newark. The patrons of the diocese are Saint Patrick and John the Baptist. Its proper feasts are the Feast of St. Patrick (March 17), the Nativity of John the Baptist (June 24) and the anniversary of the dedication of the cathedral church (June 30).As of 2023, the current bishop of Paterson is Kevin J. Sweeney
