Vernham Dean

Vernham Street is a small village in the civil parish of Vernhams Dean situated in the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the Test Valley district of Hampshire, England. Its nearest town is Andover, which lies approximately 7+1⁄2 miles (12.1 km) south-east from the village, although it lies one mile closer to Hungerford, Berkshire.

Rushmore and Conholt Downs is a 111.5-hectare (276-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest north of Andover in Hampshire. It is a Nature Conservation Review site, Grade I.These chalk downs have areas of grassland and scrub. There is also woodland, which is dominated by oak and ash with hazel coppice. A stand of juniper trees is over a hundred years old, and it is thought to be the oldest on chalk in England, with some trees over 6 metres (20 feet) tall.

Little Down (or Littledown) is a village in Hampshire, England, on the North Downs near the county boundaries with Berkshire and Wiltshire. It lies just north of Vernham Street village, in Vernham Dean civil parish. Its nearest town is Andover, approximately 7.5 miles (12 km) south from the village.

Conholt was a small village in east Wiltshire, England, close to the Hampshire border and about 6 miles (10 km) northeast of Andover. It is now the site of the Conholt Park estate. There may have been a village here in the 13th century, but by the 16th there were only farmsteads. In the late 17th century a deer park was created. Since the 19th century the land has been part of Chute civil parish.The country house known as Conholt Park was built in the late 17th century and extended in the 18th and early 19th. The house is Grade II* listed and its 18th-century stable block and carriage house are Grade II listed. In 1992 the estate was acquired by a company belonging to the family of Paul van Vlissingen, an Anglo-Dutch businessman and philanthropist; it was his home from 1994 until his death in 2006. American billionaire Steve Schwarzman purchased the house, with 2,500 acres, in 2022 for an amount reported to be in excess of £80 million.

Bevisbury is the site of a former Iron Age plateau fort in Hampshire, England. The fort lies on a chalk ridge and is of a single bank and ditch construction, enclosing an area of 1.7 hectares (4.2 acres). The earthworks are now largely destroyed and overgrown, with the southern ramparts the best preserved. There are several pits that have been cut into and around the site which were probably quarries, and a private house lies within the north-east corner. The site was designated as a scheduled monument in 1951.The site lies to the east of the village of Chute, in Wiltshire, but itself lies just within the civil parish of Tangley in the county of Hampshire. The site is bisected by a Roman road, now Hungerford Lane, which travels broadly north-west to south-east, and runs between Winchester and Mildenhall (near Marlborough). Upton is a hamlet in Hampshire, located approximately 7 miles north of Andover. It has a population of approximately 250. The River Swift, a winterbourne, runs through it and can flood between December and February, causing minor problems. Upton is also the home of the Crown Inn, which is popular with locals and residents in Andover.

Fosbury Camp, is the site of an Iron Age bivallate hillfort located in Wiltshire. The site is oval in shape, and approximately 26 acres in area The site is a scheduled national monument number WI162. The fort sits atop Knolls Down and is excellently defended to the south, south west, and east, from the very steeply sloped topology. To the north the land is less steep, and is mostly bounded by Oakhill Wood. To the west the ground rises to the true summit of Haydown Hill. In the eastern side of the camp there lies a pond, perhaps an original feature of the neolithic site.

Fosbury is a small village in Wiltshire, England, on the eastern edge of the county, near Hampshire. It lies about 11 miles (18 km) southeast of Marlborough and 7 miles (11 km) south of Hungerford, Berkshire. With few inhabitants, it forms part of the civil parish of Tidcombe and Fosbury, which has a parish meeting.

Pill Heath is a hamlet in the civil parish of Tangley situated in the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the Test Valley district of Hampshire, England. According to the Post Office the population of the hamlet at the 2011 Census was in the civil parish of Hurstbourne Tarrant. Its nearest town is Andover, which lies approximately 4.7 miles (7.6 km) south-east from the hamlet.

Combe Wood and Linkenholt Hanging is a 106.5-hectare (263-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest south of Hungerford in Berkshire. It is in the North Wessex Downs, which is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Most of this site is semi-natural woodland on rendzina (humus-rich and shallow) soils. There are also areas of woods on chalk and acid soils, together with some chalk grassland and scrub. The woods have many fallow deer and birds while the grassland has a rich chalk flora and a variety of insects.

Linkenholt is a village near Andover in Hampshire, England with about 40 inhabitants. It is in the civil Parish of Faccombe. The Domesday Book of 1086 records it as Linchehou, when it was part of the land of the Abbey of St Peter of Gloucester.The village is in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Linkenholt includes a 2,003-acre (811 ha) estate that has an Edwardian manor house, 21 cottages and houses, 1,500 acres (610 ha) of farmland, 450 acres (180 ha) of woodland, a village shop and a blacksmith's forge. The Church of England parish church of Saint Peter is not part of the estate. The history of the Manor of Linkenholt traces back beyond Domesday Book of 1086. From the reign of Edward the Confessor (1042–66) until after the Dissolution in the mid-1500s, the Manor of Linkenholt was granted by successive monarchs to the abbot and convent of St Peter, Gloucester.In 1629, the estate was bought by Emanuel Badd for 2,000 pounds and was sold in 1680 to Amsterdam merchant Robert Styles for 12,000 pounds. The estate remained in the same family until the early 19th century. Roland Dudley bought it in the 1920s.Herbert Blagrave bought the estate in 1964 and it passed to the trustees of the Herbert and Peter Blagrave Charitable Trust on his death in 1981. The trustees sold the estate for an estimated £25 million in May 2009 to Swedish businessman Stefan Persson. All of the buildings in the village are rented to tenants.

Tangley is a village in the English county of Hampshire. Tangley is situated north of the old market town of Andover and the village of Charlton, Hampshire. Tangley Parish covers an area of 4,017 acres (16.26 km2) and has just under 600 residents in three villages, Tangley, Wildhern and Hatherden and the hamlets of Charlton Down and Little Hatherden. It lies in the north west corner of Hampshire and most of it is an officially designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The houses are typical of the different kinds to be found in the area with the older ones being of flint and brick and chalk cob with thatched or tiled roofs. A walk through the parish of Tangley takes one through woodland, downland and farmland. The villages are scattered over the chalklands south of the Hampshire downs, on high land which overlooks the Bourne valley to the north and the remains of Chute Forest to the west.
