Combe Wood and Linkenholt Hanging is a 106.5-hectare (263-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest south of Hungerford in Berkshire. It is in the North Wessex Downs, which is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Most of this site is semi-natural woodland on rendzina (humus-rich and shallow) soils. There are also areas of woods on chalk and acid soils, together with some chalk grassland and scrub. The woods have many fallow deer and birds while the grassland has a rich chalk flora and a variety of insects.

Linkenholt is a village near Andover in Hampshire, England with about 40 inhabitants. It is in the civil Parish of Faccombe. The Domesday Book of 1086 records it as Linchehou, when it was part of the land of the Abbey of St Peter of Gloucester.The village is in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Linkenholt includes a 2,003-acre (811 ha) estate that has an Edwardian manor house, 21 cottages and houses, 1,500 acres (610 ha) of farmland, 450 acres (180 ha) of woodland, a village shop and a blacksmith's forge. The Church of England parish church of Saint Peter is not part of the estate. The history of the Manor of Linkenholt traces back beyond Domesday Book of 1086. From the reign of Edward the Confessor (1042–66) until after the Dissolution in the mid-1500s, the Manor of Linkenholt was granted by successive monarchs to the abbot and convent of St Peter, Gloucester.In 1629, the estate was bought by Emanuel Badd for 2,000 pounds and was sold in 1680 to Amsterdam merchant Robert Styles for 12,000 pounds. The estate remained in the same family until the early 19th century. Roland Dudley bought it in the 1920s.Herbert Blagrave bought the estate in 1964 and it passed to the trustees of the Herbert and Peter Blagrave Charitable Trust on his death in 1981. The trustees sold the estate for an estimated £25 million in May 2009 to Swedish businessman Stefan Persson. All of the buildings in the village are rented to tenants.

Buttermere is a small village and civil parish on the eastern boundary of Wiltshire, England, about 4.5 miles (7 km) south of Hungerford and 10 miles (16 km) southeast of Marlborough. The village stands above the steep escarpment of Ham Hill, and at 257 metres (843 ft) above sea level it is the highest village in Wiltshire and probably the highest in Wessex. The parish includes the hamlet of Henley, southwest of Buttermere village and next to the county border with Hampshire, and the western flanks of Inkpen Hill.

Upton is a hamlet in Hampshire, located approximately 7 miles north of Andover. It has a population of approximately 250. The River Swift, a winterbourne, runs through it and can flood between December and February, causing minor problems. Upton is also the home of the Crown Inn, which is popular with locals and residents in Andover.

Rushmore and Conholt Downs is a 111.5-hectare (276-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest north of Andover in Hampshire. It is a Nature Conservation Review site, Grade I.These chalk downs have areas of grassland and scrub. There is also woodland, which is dominated by oak and ash with hazel coppice. A stand of juniper trees is over a hundred years old, and it is thought to be the oldest on chalk in England, with some trees over 6 metres (20 feet) tall.

Inkpen Hill is a summit in Berkshire, England, with a maximum elevation of 291 m (955 ft). The hill is about 7 miles (11 km) southwest of Newbury on the Hampshire/Berkshire border and is part of the north-facing scarp of the North Hampshire Downs, a chalk ridge within the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It lies between Walbury Hill, the county top of Berkshire, to the east and Ham Hill to the west. Parts of the hill lie within the Inkpen and Walbury Hills SSSI. Inkpen Hill is accessible on foot from a car park on a minor road just to the west of Walbury Hill, by a byway that passes by Combe Gibbet before reaching the summit of Inkpen Hill. The Test Way long distance footpath passes along this byway, on its way from Walbury Hill to Eling in Hampshire. A triangulation pillar stands near to, although curiously not at, the summit of the hill, whilst a dew pond, known as Wigmoreash Pond, lies between the summit and Combe Gibbet. The hill lies within the civil parishes of Inkpen (which includes the summit), Combe and Buttermere. Inkpen and Combe are both within the unitary authority area of West Berkshire and the ceremonial county of Berkshire, whilst Buttermere is in the unitary authority area and ceremonial county of Wiltshire.

Netherton is a hamlet in northwest Hampshire, England. According to the Post Office the population of the 2011 Census was included in the civil parish of Faccombe. It is the site of a late Anglo-Saxon and medieval manorial complex, the remains of which are on private property with nothing remaining above ground.

Combe Gibbet is a gibbet at the top of Gallows Down, near the village and just within the civil parish of Combe in Berkshire (formerly Hampshire), England.

Combe is a village and civil parish in the English county of Berkshire. The parish is situated on the top of the North Hampshire Downs near Walbury Hill and Combe Gibbet, overlooking the village of Inkpen and the valley of the River Kennet. In Walbury Hill, it includes the highest natural point in South East England.Administratively, the civil parish lies within the unitary authority area of West Berkshire, and within the ceremonial county of Berkshire. Historically part of Hampshire, Combe was transferred to Berkshire in 1895.

Inkpen and Walbury Hills is an 86.8-hectare (214-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest south of Kintbury in Berkshire. The site is situated on the flanks of Walbury Hill, the highest point in Berkshire and South East England, and the adjacent Inkpen Hill. A Bronze Age cemetery of three bowl barrows on Inkpen Hill is designated a Scheduled Monument.These hills have the largest area of unimproved chalk downland in the county and much of it is managed by sheep grazing. North facing slopes have many mosses and herbs, such as hoary plantain and germander speedwell. There are also woods and hedgerows which provide a habitat for many species of breeding birds.

Ham Hill is a hill and area of chalk downland in Wiltshire, England, on the steep banks running alongside the road from the village of Ham to Buttermere, close to the Berkshire border. A biological Site of Special Scientific Interest, notified in 1971, covers 1.5 hectares of the site; this designation is due to the site's species-rich plant and insect communities, which include some rare species. Notable among these is the musk orchid (Herminium monorchis), which has been confirmed at only one other site in Wiltshire. The site is managed as a nature reserve by Wiltshire Wildlife Trust. It is managed by grazing with sheep to prevent scrub encroachment and takeover by rank vegetation, which would otherwise crowd out the scarce plant species.

Hog's Hole is a 23.7-hectare (59-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest in the civil parish of Combe in the English county of Berkshire.
