Wadebridge Rural District was a local government division of Cornwall in England, UK, between 1934 and 1968. Established under the Local Government Act 1929, the rural district was formed from the abolished districts of Bodmin Rural District, St Columb Major Rural District and Wadebridge Urban District. In 1968 Wadebridge Rural District was abolished, creating Wadebridge and Padstow Rural District.

The Camel Trail is a permissive cycleway in Cornwall, England, United Kingdom, that provides a recreational route for walkers, runners, cyclists and horse riders. The trail is flat (and suitable for disabled access); running from Padstow to Wenford Bridge via Wadebridge and Bodmin, it is 17.3 miles (27.8 km) long and used by an estimated 400,000 users each year generating an income of approximately £3 million a year.The trail is managed and maintained by Cornwall Council.

The River Allen (Cornish: Dowr Lehen, meaning slate river) in north Cornwall is one of two rivers in Cornwall which share this name. In this case the name is the result of a mistake made in 1888 by Ordnance Survey, replacing the name Layne with Allen which is the old name for the lower reaches of the Camel. The other River Allen runs through Truro. The River Allen is a major tributary of the River Camel. It springs northeast of Camelford and flows south-southwest through the Allen Valley passing St Teath and St Kew Highway to join the Camel near Sladesbridge.

The village is beside the River Camel, southeast of Wadebridge. The civil parish stretches southeast from the village and includes Washaway and Sladesbridge.

Polbrock (Cornish: Polbrogh, meaning badger's pool) is a small hamlet in north Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. It is situated two miles southeast of Wadebridge at grid reference SX 014 695 and near Burlorne Pillow. Polbrock is situated in the steep-sided and heavily wooded valley of the River Camel and is the site of a pair of bridges carrying a minor road over the River Camel and the Camel Trail. The river bridge is the first road crossing of the River Camel upstream of Wadebridge, and was built in the late 19th Century to replace an earlier footbridge and ford. The next crossing is at Nanstallon two miles further upstream.Polbrock is on the Camel Trail long-distance footpath and cycle trail. At this point, the Camel Trail follows the trackbed of the former Bodmin and Wadebridge Railway). Polbrock is the first road access point to the Camel Trail when travelling from Wadebridge towards Bodmin. There is a small car park and picnic area from which a footpath leads through Bishop's Wood to Hustyn Mill. One house in Polbrock, probably built in the 18th century, is Grade II listed by Historic England.

Wadebridge railway station (Cornish: Ponswad) was a railway station that served the town of Wadebridge in Cornwall, England. It was on the Bodmin and Wadebridge Railway. It opened in 1834 to transport goods between Wadebridge, the limit of navigation on the River Camel, and inland farming and mining areas. The railway was built to take stone from local quarries such as the De Lank Quarries on Bodmin Moor towards the coast, as well as sand dredged from the River Camel and landed at the quays in Wadebridge inland to be used to improve the heavy local soil. The station is situated just upstream of Wadebridge bridge and almost next to the tidal River Camel; a fact that prompted the former Poet Laureate John Betjeman to write in his autobiography "On Wadebridge station what a breath of sea scented the Camel Valley! Cornish air, soft Cornish rains, and silence after steam".

Sladesbridge (Cornish: Ponslayn) is a village located near Wadebridge in Cornwall, England. It is situated at the confluence of the River Allen and the Croan Stream about 1 km upstream of the confluence with the River Camel. The surrounding area is in the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the floodplain is a Special Area of Conservation, a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a County Wildlife Site.

Other towns in the area are Launceston, Bude, Padstow, and Camelford. North Cornwall is an area of outstanding natural beauty that is of great geological and scientific interest. It includes the only part of Cornwall that is formed of carboniferous rocks, the northern area of North Cornwall District. The rest of the district lies on Devonian sedimentary strata and the granite of Bodmin Moor. A similar area is covered by the North Cornwall parliamentary constituency.
