The Westbach is a river of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It flows into the Ostbach in Herne.

Herne (German pronunciation: [ˈhɛʁnə] (listen)) is a city in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is located in the Ruhr area directly between the cities of Bochum and Gelsenkirchen.

Stadion am Schloss Strünkede is a football stadium in Herne, Germany. It is the home stadium of SC Westfalia Herne. The stadium holds 32,000 spectators and opened in 1910.

Recklinghausen Süd station is located in the city of Recklinghausen in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is on the Wanne-Eickel–Hamburg line. The line and station opened between 1880 and 1886, originally as Bruch station. it was renamed Recklinghausen Süd between 1897 and 1905. It is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 5 station.

Herne power plant is a coal-fired power plant located at Herne in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It was constructed in 1962. The installed capacity of the plant is 950 megawatts. The power plant is owned and operated by Evonik Steag GmbH, a subsidiary of Evonik Industries. In the 1980s, a fourth unit was added to the three older blocks. During this construction the high, 300 metre tall chimney and the large cooling tower, whose shape is present in the picture of the power station, were built. The power station annually produces approx. 5.2 billion kWh electrical power and 800 million kWh of long-distance heating. Annual coal consumption amounts to approx. 2 million tons.

Riemke is a major district of the city of Bochum, Ruhr area, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Riemke borders to the city of Herne. Riemke was mentioned for the first time as "Rymbecke" in the 9th century. A market square is situated in the center of Riemke. Riemke has the highest point of Bochum, the Tippelsberg. In the east of Riemke is the Naturschutzgebiet Zillertal. Riemke is connected by the A43 Autobahn. Additionally Riemke is connected by rail at the line Bochum-Gelsenkirchen (formerly Nokia-Bahn). On 1 April 1926 the municipality of Riemke was integrated into the city of Bochum. Riemke is a district that is more working class.

The Bochum–Gelsenkirchen railway, also known as the Glückauf-Bahn (referring to Glück auf, the traditional German miners greeting), is a passenger railway from Bochum Central Station (Hauptbahnhof) to Gelsenkirchen Central Station in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is served by Regionalbahn passenger service RB 46). It is also used by freight traffic from Bochum freight yard at the former Bochum Süd station and Bochum-Präsident to Gelsenkirchen-Schalke Nord. The line was built in sections between 1867 and 1876 of the Bergisch-Märkische Railway Company. The curve connecting to Bochum Central Station was opened in 1979.

Grumme is a quarter of the Westphalian city of Bochum in Germany. It is north of the city centre. Grumme has a tram line running from Gerthe to Hattingen. Grumme is world-famous because of the Starlight Express, the most-viewed musical in the world. It is famous for its parks and avenues, the German Mining Museum, many hospitals and old buildings. It is one of the wealthiest parts of the Ruhr area. Grumme houses the largest stadium in Bochum, the Ruhrstadion. The most famous inhabitants from Grumme are the chief of orthopedics in NRW, the major of Bochum and the producent of "Bochum Total", a famous German music festival.

Hamme (German: Bochum-Hamme) is a part of the city of Bochum in the Ruhr area in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Up to the 19th century Westphalian was spoken here. Bochum-Hamme is a district in the working-class north of Bochum. So it is the part of Bochum with the highest number of poor families. Bochum-Hamme includes Goldhamme, the south of which borders onto the former town of Wattenscheid. Hamme houses a large Turkish minority. Some parts of Hamme, especially the so-called Speckschweiz quarter, currently experiences some gentrification attracting young middle-class families, students and artists.

Hordel is a borough of the city of Bochum, Germany in the Ruhr area in North Rhine-Westphalia. It is situated in the North West of Bochum. It borders to Röhlinghausen, which now is a borough of Herne. The last mine of Bochum, Zeche Hannover was in Hordel. In Hordel there are several former mine railways.
