South Lake High School is a public secondary school located in the Rainier Beach neighborhood of Seattle, Washington. South Lake High School is an alternative high school for students suspended or expelled from other schools, teenage parents or students who prefer smaller schools.

Rainier Beach station is a light rail station in Seattle, Washington. It is between the Tukwila International Boulevard and Othello stations on Line 1. The line runs from Seattle–Tacoma International Airport to Downtown Seattle and the University of Washington as part of the Link light rail system. The station consists of an at-grade island platform south of South Henderson Street in the median of Martin Luther King Jr. Way in the Rainier Beach neighborhood, part of Seattle's Rainier Valley. The Rainier Beach area was proposed for light rail service in 1995 and included in the final plan for Central Link (now Line 1) approved in 1999. Construction on Rainier Beach station began in 2006, and regular train service began on July 18, 2009. Trains serve the station twenty hours a day on most days; the headway between trains is six minutes during peak periods, with less frequent service at other times. Rainier Beach station is also served by three King County Metro bus routes that connect it to Beacon Hill, Downtown Seattle, Georgetown, Mount Baker and Renton. The station also has six art installations that were funded by a systemwide art program.

Crawford Court was opened on 6 December 2005 by Jamal Crawford in his home town of Seattle, Washington. The court cost $100,000 and is for the use of Rainier Beach High School students. Crawford's high school number (23) is retired at the school, and is on display in the gym.

Rainier Beach High School is a public secondary school (grades 9-12) in the Seattle Public Schools system. It is located in the Rainier Beach area, in the southeastern part of the city of Seattle, Washington, United States. The school historically has had a strong emphasis on team sports, and many championship teams. The building has a capacity of 1,200 students, but enrollment has declined greatly in recent years. In 2006, 1,302 of the 1,600 high school students living in the Rainier Beach neighborhood traveled out of the area each morning to attend other high schools. In 2008–09, Rainier Beach began the year with 453 students and ended with about 295, giving an average monthly enrollment of 374. Sixty students chose it as their first choice. In 2013 the school began offering an International Baccalaureate program.

Washington's 37th legislative district is one of forty-nine districts in Washington state for representation in the state legislature. The district encompasses Beacon Hill, Central District, Rainier Valley, Columbia City, Rainier Beach, and Renton. The district's legislators are state senator Rebecca Saldaña and state representatives Sharon Tomiko Santos (position 1) and Kirsten Harris-Talley (position 2), all Democrats. On December 12, 2016, Rebecca Saldaña was selected to fill Pramila Jayapal's seat in the senate over Rory O'Sullivan and Shasti Conrad following a special appointment by the King County Council. Jayapal had recommended Saldaña for her replacement, stating "Rebecca is a proven and effective leader – she has gotten results on some of the toughest issues our community faces. I strongly support her appointment to the State Senate."

Beer Sheva Park is a small park located on Lake Washington in the Rainier Beach neighborhood of Seattle, Washington. Dedicated in 1905 as Atlantic City Park after the subdivision, it was renamed after Beer Sheva, Israel, in 1977, to honor Seattle's new sister city. In Beer Sheva, Israel, a "Seattle Park" was made in honor of Seattle's gesture.

Othello station is a light rail station located in Seattle, Washington. Kubota Garden is a 20-acre (81,000 m²) Japanese garden in the Rainier Beach neighborhood of Seattle, Washington. A public park since 1987, it was started in 1927 by Fujitaro Kubota, a Japanese emigrant. Today, it is maintained as a public park by the Seattle Parks and Recreation and the Kubota Garden Foundation.

The South End (Soufend) is a group of neighborhoods in the southeast of Seattle, Washington, U.S.A. The definition is a bit fluid, but has traditionally included the area south of the Central District, and east of Interstate 5: Rainier Valley, Columbia City, Rainier Beach, Seward Park, Mount Baker, and Beacon Hill. Sometimes its definition is extended to Skyway and Bryn Mawr in unincorporated King County, though these are not technically in the city. Other definitions have included northern parts of Renton and Tukwila, though most Seattleites, especially those from the South End, would consider this usage incorrect. Often the term "South End" is used colloquially to include neighboring portions of South King County, by people living in those areas, due to that area's location in reference to Seattle proper. The South End has traditionally been a diverse neighborhood with a mix of Caucasian, African American, Latino and Asian communities. It is currently going through a period of redevelopment and gentrification, and was a target of former Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels's action agenda and Sound Transit's Link light rail. There is a high school sports rivalry between the South End's high schools Rainier Beach and Franklin and the Central District's Garfield. Today the neighborhood has a population of 84,180 and is 34% Asian, 27% White or Caucasian, 23% Black or African-American, 8% Hispanic and 5% other races or of mixed race. [1]

NewHolly (formerly Holly Park) is a neighborhood in southeast Seattle, Washington, United States. It is part of Seattle's South End. Holly Park was built in the 1940s to house defense workers and veterans, but in the 1950s, it was converted into public housing under the aegis of the Seattle Housing Authority (SHA). As the mid-century style of low-income housing projects fell out of fashion, and with its housing stock not faring well over the decades, SHA decided in 1995 to rebuild Holly Park as a mixed-income neighborhood. The resulting neighborhood is now officially NewHolly, described by the SHA as "the first new neighborhood in Seattle in 50 years."NewHolly consists primarily of housing, but also includes a learning center; a branch of Seattle Public Library; several classrooms attached to South Seattle Community College; a Head Start preschool; child care, youth, family, and teen programs; and community building activities and employment programs intended to help residents obtain and secure living-wage jobs.South Seattle Community College's NewHolly Learning Center teaches ESL and family literacy, ABE/GED preparation, and a worker retraining program associated with Community Corrections and Protective Service.

Bikur Cholim Machzikay Hadath, abbreviated as BCMH, is an Orthodox Jewish congregation and synagogue located at 5145 South Morgan Street, in the Seward Park neighborhood of Seattle, Washington, in the United States. It is the oldest synagogue in Washington state; and practises Ashkenazi traditions.

The Chief Sealth Trail is a multi-use recreational trail in Seattle, Washington. The 3.6-mile (6 km) trail, which opened on May 12, 2007, follows the Seattle City Light transmission right-of-way from S. Dawson Street and Beacon Avenue S. in Beacon Hill, near Jefferson Park, to S. Gazelle Street and 51st Avenue S. in Rainier Valley, near Kubota Gardens. Extensions are planned northward to Downtown and southward to the city limits.The trail was constructed from the recycling of excavated soils and concrete from the construction of Link light rail along Martin Luther King Jr. Way in South Seattle.
