Rich Mountain Bald (variant: Bald of Rich Mountain and Big Bald of Rich) is a mountain in the North Carolina High Country, southeast of the community of Zionville. Its elevation reaches 5,361 feet (1,634 m). The mountain generates several feeder streams to the South Fork New River (via Meat Camp Creek) and Watauga River (via Cove Creek). Rich Mountain Gap separates it with Snake Mountain.

Elk Knob State Park is a 4,423-acre (17.90 km2) North Carolina state park in Watauga County, North Carolina, in the United States. Opened in 2003, it is one of North Carolina's newest state parks. Elk Knob State Park was established to preserve the natural state of Elk Knob, the third highest peak in Watauga County. The park is open for year-round recreation and is currently undergoing an expansion of facilities to provide greater recreational opportunities to visitors. Elk Knob State Park is on Meat Camp Road, 5.5 miles (8.9 km) from North Carolina Highway 194, 9.5 miles (15.3 km) north of Boone, in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

The community is located on Meat Camp Road (via NC 194), north of Boone.

John Smith Miller House is a historic home located near Boone, Watauga County, North Carolina. It was built in 1906, and is a two-story, side gable, "L"-plan, chestnut frame I-house. It has a one-story rear ell with side porch. The front facade features a central gabled two-tier porch.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.

Rich Mountain is a mountain located in the North Carolina High Country, roughly 3 miles (4.8 km) northwest of the town of Boone. Its elevation reaches 4,748 feet (1,447 m). The mountain is sometimes confused with Howard Knob, which is to its immediate east; sharing the same ridge to the west is Snakeden Mountain. The summit is private property. The summit of Rich Mountain has year-round temperatures similar to nearby Beech Mountain. While Beech Mountain stands 800 feet (240 m) taller, the unique environment and prevailing winds that channel through a valley just to the North of Rich, bring winter lows that compete with and are occasionally lower than Beech. The summit, and upper north face of Rich Mountain will also receive 50-90% more snow each winter than Boone. 68" of snow was recorded during the 2017/2018 winter which sported 3 different snowfalls through the end of April.The mountain generates several feeder streams to the South Fork New River (via Doe Fork) and the Watauga River (via Laurel Fork).

Cove Creek High School, also known as the Cove Creek Elementary School, is a historic high school building located at Sugar Grove, Watauga County, North Carolina. It was built by the Works Progress Administration in 1940–1941, and is a two-story, Collegiate Gothic style stone building. It is seven bays wide and features slightly projecting square stair towers and a crenellated roof parapet. It was designed by Clarence R. Coffey, an apprentice of Frank Lloyd Wright, and constructed by local artisans and laborers using local stone and wood sources.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.
