It is constructed from finely-coursed herringbone-tooled sandstone with a Lakeland slate roof in 2 storeys to an L-shaped floorplan and has a 5 bay frontage. The building is grade II* listed.

Sexhow railway station was a railway station built to serve the hamlet of Sexhow in North Yorkshire, England. The station was on the North Yorkshire and Cleveland's railway line between Picton and Stokesley, which opened in 1857. The line was extended progressively until it met the Whitby & Pickering Railway at Grosmont. Sexhow station was closed in 1954 to passengers and four years later to goods. The station was located 13 miles (21 km) south of Stockton, and 3.75 miles (6.04 km) west of Battersby railway station.

Skutterskelfe is a civil parish in the Hambleton district of North Yorkshire, England and lies to the north of the River Leven. The population of the parish at the 2011 census was 129.The parish has a single Grade II* listed building, Rudby Hall, at Hutton Rudby, formerly called Leven Grove, and then Skutterskelfe Hall. The parish has three Grade II listed buildings, all connected to the hall – the pump house, the terrace walls and balustrade, garden wall and gate piers, and the north lodge to the park.

Stokesley railway station was a railway station built to serve the town of Stokesley in North Yorkshire, England. The station was on the North Yorkshire and Cleveland line between Sexhow and Ingleby, which opened in 1857. Stokesley was a rural district in the North Riding of Yorkshire from 1894 to 1974. It was named after the town of Stokesley, which it contained.The district was enlarged in 1932 when it took in part of the Middlesbrough Rural District. It lost parts in 1968 with the creation of the Teesside county borough.In 1974 the district was abolished under the Local Government Act 1972. It was split three ways, with the northern parts going to the boroughs of Stockton-on-Tees and Middlesbrough in the new county of Cleveland, and the rest becoming part of the Hambleton district of North Yorkshire. The parishes that went to Stockton were: Castlelevington, Hilton, Ingleby Barwick, Kirklevington, Maltby and Yarm, whilst Nunthorpe went to Middlesbrough.

Stokesley is a market town and civil parish in North Yorkshire, England. It lies within the historic county boundaries of the North Riding of Yorkshire, on the River Leven. An electoral ward of the same name stretches north to Newby and had a population at the 2011 Census of 5,537.Stokesley is about two miles south of the Middlesbrough borough boundary and eight miles south of Middlesbrough town centre. Stokesley is between Middlesbrough, Guisborough and Northallerton in a farming area. Local attractions nearby include Great Ayton, Captain Cook's monument and Roseberry Topping in the North York Moors National Park. From 1894 to 1974 the town was one of the North Riding of Yorkshire's rural district head towns.

Kirkby (historically known as Kirkby-in-Cleveland) is a village and civil parish in Hambleton district of North Yorkshire, England, near Great Busby and 2 miles (3.2 km) south of Stokesley. The village is mentioned in the Domesday Book as belonging to Uhtred. The name of the village derives from the Old Norse kirkju-býr, which means church with a village. At the 2001 Census, the population of the village was recorded at 313, dropping slightly to 309 at the 2011 Census. In 2015, North Yorkshire County Council estimated the population to be 310.The village used to be served by Stokesley railway station on the Picton to Battersby railway line, which was 1 mile (1.6 km) north of the village. The A172 road is to the north and the B1257 Stokesley to Helmsley road is in the village of Great Broughton, 0.62 miles (1 km) to the east.The parish church of St Augustine was built in 1815 to replace a medieval building. The chancel was rebuilt in the early 1900s by London architect Temple Moore. It is a grade II* listed building. Besides the church, Kirkby also has a village hall and a public house, the Black Swan.To the south of the village is Kirby Bank (without a second 'K'). Part of the pathway there is a Medieval greenway known as the Kirby Bank Trod, which is believed to have been laid in the 12th century as part of the route to Rievaulx Abbey. The track is a scheduled ancient monument.

Stokesley School is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form located in Stokesley, North Yorkshire, England.It was established in 1959 as secondary modern school but became a comprehensive in the 1970s. The school converted to academy status in April 2015, however it continues to coordinate with North Yorkshire County Council for admissions, and has an intake of pupils from Stokesley, Great Ayton, Hutton Rudby and the surrounding villages.Stokesley School offers GCSEs, BTECs ASDAN courses as programmes of study for pupils, while students in the sixth form have the option to study from a range of A-levels.
