Sant Esteve de Banyoles is a Benedictine monastery in Banyoles, Pla de l'Estany, Catalonia, Spain. It was declared as a Bé Cultural d'Interès Nacional landmark in 1973. The monastery was founded before 812.

Banyoles (Catalan pronunciation: [bəˈɲɔləs]) is a city of 20,168 inhabitants (2021) located in the province of Girona in northeastern Catalonia, Spain. The town is the capital of the Catalan comarca "Pla de l'Estany". Although an established industrial centre many of the inhabitants commute to the nearby city of Girona (12 km to the south). Banyoles was connected to Girona by the 750 mm (2 ft 5+1⁄2 in) gauge Palamós–Girona–Banyoles railway, which reached it by 1928. Service on the line continued until 1956.

Pla de l'Estany (Catalan pronunciation: [ˈpla ðə ləsˈtaɲ]) is a comarca (county) in the Girona region in Catalonia, Spain. Its name means "plain of the lake", the lake in question being the Lake of Banyoles. Banyoles is also the name of the capital of the comarca and home to over half of its people. Pla de l'Estany was established as a separate comarca in 1988 on the basis of a referendum; prior to that it had constituted the northwest part of the comarca of Gironès. The comarca borders the comarques of Garrotxa, Alt Empordà, and Gironès. Pla de l'Estany is largely agricultural, but has also long had industries in textiles, furniture, leather, iron, and copper.

Lake of Banyoles (or Estany de Banyoles) is a natural lake located in the comarca "Pla de l'Estany", Province of Girona, in northeastern Catalonia, Spain. It is named after the nearby town of Banyoles, to which it belongs entirely. On the western shore it borders with the town of Porqueres. The lake is approximately 2,100 m by 750 m with an average depth of 15 m that in several points gets down to 46.4 metres. It is located in a natural tectonic depression. Presently Lake Banyoles is the largest natural lake in Catalonia. Lake Sils, located 33 km further south, was formerly the largest lake in the area until it was drained in 1851.

Porqueres (Catalan pronunciation: [puɾˈkeɾəs]) is a municipality located in the county of Pla de l'Estany, in the province of Girona, in the autonomous region of Catalunya of Spain. The municipality is made up of several villages. Mata, Les Pedreres and Miànigues, have the largest part of the population. At the top of the mountain range of Serra de Sant Patllari is the village of Pujarnol. In the west is Porqueres, and on the northern part of the Lake of Banyoles is Usall. Amid the green forests of the Ginestar mountains is the village of Merlant.

Factoria d’Arts Escèniques is a cultural building focused in teaching, producing and playing performing arts. It is located in Baldiri Reixach, 403 de Banyoles, Pla de l'Estany. The building received the official visit of the Minister of Culture, González-Sinde in October 2010 and inaugurated its first play the 27 March 2011 but it wasn't officially opened since 20 April 2011.
