The West End Branch of the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, located at 47 Wabash Street in the West End neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, opened on January 31, 1899. It was originally commissioned as part of Andrew Carnegie's first grant to Pittsburgh and was the third library in the Pittsburgh city system to open, following the Main Branch and the Lawrenceville Branch. It was the eighth Carnegie funded library to open in America and only the second to have the new revolutionary policy of open or self-service shelves. The first with open shelves was Pittsburgh's Lawrenceville Branch, the sixth Carnegie library to open in America. The first five libraries to open in America, as well as the seventh, Carnegie Library of Homestead, were originally closed stack libraries where a clerk was used to fetch books for the patrons. The West End Branch was added to the List of City of Pittsburgh historic designations on July 28, 2004.

St. James Church is a historic Roman Catholic church in the West End neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Erected as a parish of the Diocese of Pittsburgh in 1853, the current Brick Gothic church was built in 1884, and served as a church for 120 years until its closure in 2004. It subsequently housed an art gallery for ten years, before it was acquired and reopened by the Society of Saint Pius X in August 2014.

Thaddeus Stevens Elementary School (also known as Thaddeus Stevens School, and Pittsburgh Stevens K-8) located at 824 Crucible Street in the Elliott neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was built in 1939. It was a part of Pittsburgh Public Schools and served Elliott, Esplen, Sheraden, West End, and Westgate Village.The school was designed by Marion M. Steen (1886–1966) in Art Deco style. The school was named in honor of Republican abolitionist Thaddeus Stevens, who was a U.S. Congressman from Pennsylvania. It was added to the List of Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation Historic Landmarks in 2001, and the List of City of Pittsburgh historic designations on November 30, 1999. In 2012, Stevens celebrated its final year of operation.

KDKA-FM (93.7 MHz, "93.7 The Fan") is a commercial FM radio station licensed to serve Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The station is owned by Audacy, Inc. through licensee Audacy License, LLC and broadcasts a sports radio format. Studios are located at Foster Plaza near Green Tree (west of Pittsburgh) while the broadcast tower used by the station is located near Mount Washington, next to its former studios in Pittsburgh's South Shore neighborhood at (40°26′28.2″N 80°1′31.2″W). KDKA-FM serves as the flagship station for the Pittsburgh Pirates Radio Network and the University of Pittsburgh Panthers IMG radio network. It broadcasts in the HD Radio format and simulcasts the news/talk programming of co-owned KDKA (1020 AM) on its HD2 subchannel, while the national network feed of CBS Sports Radio is heard on its HD3 subchannel. KDKA-FM also carries Infinity Sports Network programming late nights and on weekends.

The West End-Elliott Overlook Park, often shortened to West End Overlook, is a small municipal park and scenic viewpoint in the Elliott neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In 2003 the park was redesigned with landscaped gardens and a walkway under shade trees. Terraced stone banks provide seats for tourists. The park affords a sweeping view of the valleys of the Allegheny, Monongahela, and Ohio Rivers as well as Downtown Pittsburgh.

Saw Mill Run is a tributary of the Ohio River in Pennsylvania. It is an urban stream, and lies entirely within Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. The stream enters the Ohio just downstream from the Forks of the Ohio in Pittsburgh, at a place that was founded as the town of Temperanceville in the 1830s. It provides an entry through the elevated plateau south of Pittsburgh known as the South Hills, and land transportation has paralleled the stream since the nineteenth century. The stream is named for an actual saw mill that operated near the mouth of the stream where it empties into the Ohio River. The first reference to the mill is in relation to the construction of Fort Pitt (1759–1761). The mill provided much of the lumber used in the construction of the new Fort, after the British claimed the area from the French and destroyed Fort Duquesne.

Parkway Center Mall was an enclosed shopping mall in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Opened in 1982, the mall closed in 2013 after losing Kmart, its last anchor store. The only remaining store in operation is a Giant Eagle supermarket. In 2016, the entirety of the mall was demolished, except for the Giant Eagle building with the vacant former Kmart space above it.

The West End Bridge is a steel tied-arch bridge over the Ohio River in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, approximately 1 mile (1.6 km) below the confluence of the Allegheny and Monongahela Rivers. It connects the West End to the Chateau neighborhood on the North Side of Pittsburgh. The bridge was built from 1930 to 1932 primarily by the American Bridge Company (superstructure) and the Foundation Company (substructure). It was the longest tied-arch bridge in the world when completed, and just the second bridge to use tied-arch technology over a long span, after the Tacony–Palmyra Bridge (1929) in Philadelphia. The bridge was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979 and the List of Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation Historic Landmarks in 2001. As of 2016, the bridge and its surrounding approaches are undergoing some major reconstruction. The Riverlife Task Force conducted a competition in the spring of 2006 to design a pedestrian bridge across the Ohio attached to the West End Bridge. The goal of the competition was to create an iconic architectural element which ties both shore neighborhoods with the waterfronts while eliminating the need for pedestrians to cross traffic lanes and empty lots. The winning design was submitted by Endres Ware (now Endrestudio) in association with OLIN, Ammann & Whitney, Auerbach Glasow, and RWDI.

Point of View is a 2006 landmark public sculpture in bronze by James A. West; it sits in a parklet named for the work of art, Point of View Park, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The piece depicts George Washington and the Seneca leader Guyasuta, with their weapons down, in a face-to-face meeting in October 1770, when the two men met while Washington was in the area examining land for future settlement along the Ohio River. The work weighs 750 lbs. and cost $130,000 for materials with charitable donations of land, pedestal and artist time.Point of View sits on the edge of Mount Washington (Grandview Avenue at Sweetbriar Street) on the westernmost end of Grand View Scenic Byway Park and the Grand View Scenic Byway, a designated Pennsylvania scenic byway. The sculpture was dedicated on October 25, 2006, by mayor Luke Ravenstahl.

Point of View Park is a parklet in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It sits on the edge of Mount Washington (Grandview Avenue at Sweetbriar Street) on the westernmost end of Grand View Scenic Byway Park, of which it is a part, and the Grand View Scenic Byway, a designated Pennsylvania scenic byway. The park is named for a landmark 2006 public sculpture in bronze by James A. West, Point of View. The piece depicts George Washington and the Seneca leader Guyasuta, with their weapons down, in a face-to-face meeting in October 1770, when the two men met while Washington was in the area examining land for future settlement along the Ohio River. Before the dedication of the park in October 2006 by mayor Luke Ravenstahl, it had been known by locals as "Photography Park" because of its popularity with tourists who perched on the concrete overlook taking pictures of the cityscape below.

Duquesne Baseball Field is a baseball field located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States, in the borough of Green Tree. The field was home to the Duquesne Dukes baseball team, which used to compete in the Division I Atlantic 10 Conference. However, the baseball program was discontinued due to budget cuts after the 2010 season. The facility was opened for the 1996 season after construction was completed in fall 1995. Along with the field, the facility features batting cages and permanent seating behind home plate.

The Fort Pitt Tunnel is a vehicular tunnel under Mount Washington in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It connects the West End region on the southwest side to the South Shore neighborhood on the northeast side. The adjoining Fort Pitt Bridge on the northeast end connects to Downtown Pittsburgh. The tunnel carries traffic on Interstate 376 (I-376), U.S. Route 22 (US 22), US 30, and US 19 Truck. The structure comprises two bores, each with two lanes of traffic. The inbound tunnel flows onto the top deck of the double-deck Fort Pitt Bridge, opposite traffic from the lower deck using the outbound tunnel. To accommodate the bridge, the northeast portals of the parallel tunnels are vertically staggered by 30 feet. The tunnel opened in September 1960, a year after the Fort Pitt Bridge.Before entering the southwest end of the inbound tunnel, travelers see a commonplace view of Southwestern Pennsylvania's hills, but at the northeast end, travelers emerge to a panorama of Downtown Pittsburgh and the surrounding skyline. The view was cited by The New York Times as "the best way to enter an American city". The vantage was the inspiration for the news opening on Pittsburgh's KDKA-TV for several years in the 1980s and 1990s, and is referenced in Stephen Chbosky's novel The Perks of Being a Wallflower. The Fort Pitt Tunnel is the third-longest automobile tunnel in Pittsburgh, following the Liberty Tunnels and the Squirrel Hill Tunnel. It is one of four major tunnels passing beneath Mount Washington, including the Liberty Tunnels and the Wabash Tunnel for automobiles, and the Mount Washington Transit Tunnel for public transportation.
