Avery College was a former college dedicated to the education of African Americans. Avery College opened in 1849 and closed in 1873. Avery College was located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. From 1863 to 1867 George Boyer Vashon was the President.Jonathan Jasper Wright received an honorary LL.D degree from Avery College.

The Teutonia Männerchor Hall (), in the Deutschtown neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is a building constructed in 1888. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004. The Teutonia Männerchor is a private membership club with the purpose of furthering choral singing, German cultural traditions and good fellowship. The club features a number of heritage activities and celebrations, including choral singing in German and folk dancing.

Sarah Heinz House (originally Covode House) was a settlement house in at the corner of Heinz and Ohio streets in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, US. It adjoined the H. J. Heinz factories. The house's mission was: to provide wholesome social and recreational opportunities; to utilize leisure time and energy; to study individual requirements and awaken and direct latent ability; to develop Christian character and train for efficient citizenship the young people of the community; to draw together neighborhood residents and friends for mutual helpfulness: to train for service in the community.

Allegheny Social Hall located at 810-812 Concord Street in the East Allegheny neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was built in 1903. It was built at a time when this area was part of the city of Allegheny, Pennsylvania. The building was added to the List of Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation Historic Landmarks in 2003.

The Schiller STEAM Academy (also known as Schiller School) in the East Allegheny neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania is a building from 1939. The school is still in use today, as part of the Pittsburgh Public School System, and is known as Schiller STEAM Academy. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

The Hanauer-Rosenberg residence is located at 417 Lockhart Street in the nationally and locally historic neighborhood of Deutschtown in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Built in 1888 in the Richardsonian Romanesque architectural style, the building was the residence of Pauline Hanauer-Rosenberg, founder of the National Council of Jewish Women. In March 2020, the Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission awarded a State Historic Marker at the residence to recognize Rosenberg's work. Also in 2020, the Pennsylvania State Historic Preservation Office determined the residence eligible to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In May 2020, Preservation Pittsburgh nominated the residence to be considered a City of Pittsburgh Historic Landmark and in July 2020, the City of Pittsburgh's Historic Review Commission determined that this nomination was viable.

The Latimer School (also known as "The School House Apartments") in the East Allegheny neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is a building from 1898. It is a massive 4 story yellow brick building with a variety of window types and placement. The school was closed in 1974 because there was no outdoor play area. It was purchased for conversion into apartments in 1984.It was designed by the German-born Pittsburgh architect Frederick C. Sauer (1860-1942) The school building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

The Veterans Bridge is a steel and welded girder bridge that carries Interstate 579 over the Allegheny River in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Completed in 1988 it cost $420 million (or $962 million in 2022 terms). It opened on November 11, 1988 complete with 107th National Guard howitzers firing ceremoniously from the deck, as the last link in I-579. The bridge, 1,050 feet (320 m) in length, has a main span of 410 feet (120 m) and is 51 feet (16 m) above the water. The roadway atop the structure is seven lanes wide, with six lanes dedicated to northbound and southbound traffic (three per direction) and one lane designed for reversible High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV-2) movements. The bridge is also designated "pghe585-17".

Heinz ranked first in ketchup in the US with a market share in excess of 50%; the Ore-Ida label held 46% of the frozen potato sector in 2003.Since 1896, the company has used its "57 Varieties" slogan; it was inspired by a sign advertising 21 styles of shoes, and Henry Heinz chose the number 57 even though the company manufactured more than 60 products at the time, because "5" was his lucky number and "7" was his wife's.In February 2013, Heinz agreed to be purchased by Berkshire Hathaway and the Brazilian investment firm 3G Capital for $23 billion. On March 25, 2015, Kraft announced its merger with Heinz, arranged by Berkshire Hathaway and 3G Capital. The resulting Kraft Heinz Company is the fifth largest food company in the world. Berkshire Hathaway became a majority owner of Heinz on June 18, 2015. After exercising a warrant to acquire 46 million shares of common stock for a total price of over $461 million, Berkshire increased its stake to 52.5%. The merger to form Kraft Heinz was completed on July 2, 2015.

Penn Brewery, also known as the Pennsylvania Brewing Company, is a brewery and restaurant in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It was founded by Tom Pastorius in 1986, and is located at 800 Vinial Street in the Troy Hill neighborhood of Pittsburgh, on the site of the former Eberhardt and Ober Brewery (founded in 1848).

The H. J. Heinz Company complex, part of which is currently known as Heinz Lofts, is a historic industrial complex in the Troy Hill neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The buildings were built by the H. J. Heinz Company from 1907 through 1958. The complex is listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) and five of the buildings are listed as a Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation Historic Landmark.

The Allegheny Aqueduct was John A. Roebling's first wire cable suspension bridge. It was built in 1844 near the later Fort Wayne Railroad Bridge as a replacement for a wooden covered bridge aqueduct over the Allegheny River in Pittsburgh, part of the Pennsylvania Canal.
