Paracuellos del Jarama is a small town and municipality in the Community of Madrid, Spain. It is located northeast from Madrid and very close to Madrid-Barajas Airport. The etymology of the name is unclear.In 1936, it (along with Torrejón de Ardoz) was the site of the Paracuellos massacres.

Ajalvir (Spanish pronunciation: [axalˈβiɾ]) is a town and municipality in the Autonomous Community of Madrid in central Spain, located 26 kilometres (16 mi) north-east of Madrid and 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) from Alcalá de Henares. It is located in the comarca of Alcalá. The name Ajalvir is believed to have derived from the Arabic al-jalaoui, meaning isolated or separated.

Daganzo de Arriba is a Spanish municipality in the Comarca de Alcalá, located in the east of Autonomous Community of Madrid. It has a population of about 9,000 (including the residents of the permanent camping that is in the town), of which are mostly young families, in more recent times people have been purchasing homes in the new housing subdivisions that are being built and residing within those new neighborhoods. It is 27 km to the east-northeast of Madrid and 11 km to the north of Alcalá de Henares. It has an altitude of 673 meters above sea level and has a municipal area of 4,325 hectares. The village is surrounded by small hills. From north to south, the river Torote runs through the village, in whose margins was located the first settlement of this town, in the same place where the church of Nuestra Señora del Espino is, and stream Valseco. There are two industrial parks which collectively employ about 1,800 workers, of which 800 are residents of the town. The rest come from other nearby municipalities. It has an important agriculture according to the area of the municipality, which is quite extensive and of acceptable quality. The climate that dominates the area is characterized by very high summer temperatures and low winter temperatures. Rainfall in summer is almost zero and medium in periods of autumn and winter, therefore is unevenly distributed throughout the year. The average annual temperature is 14.5 °C with temperatures ranging from 27 °C in summer to 5 °C in winter.

Spanair Flight 5022 was a scheduled domestic passenger flight from Barcelona–El Prat Airport to Gran Canaria Airport, Spain, via Madrid–Barajas Airport that crashed just after take-off from runway 36L at Madrid Airport at 14:24 CEST (12:24 UTC) on 20 August 2008. The aircraft was a McDonnell Douglas MD-82, registration EC-HFP. Of the 172 passengers and crew on board, 154 died and 18 survived.It was the only fatal accident for Spanair (part of the SAS Group) in the 25-year history of the company, and the 14th fatal accident and 24th hull loss involving the McDonnell Douglas MD-80 series aircraft. It was Spain's deadliest accident since the 1983 crash of Avianca Flight 011.The accident further worsened Spanair's already negative image at the time and exacerbated its financial difficulties. Spanair subsequently ceased operations on 27 January 2012.

Desert City is a plant nursery and botanical garden located in Madrid, Spain that cultivates and sells xerophytic plants. Desert City has over 600 species, including cacti, succulents and native plants from the Mediterranean region. It is Europe's largest cactus garden. Desert City's greenhouses and gardens have been awarded numerous awards for architectural design.

Madrid–Torrejón Airport (IATA: TOJ, ICAO: LETO) is a commercial airport in central Spain, a joint-use facility between the Spanish Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Public Works. The civil part is dedicated primarily to executive and private aviation. The military part (Torrejón Air Base) is the base of several combat, logistics, and electronic warfare units of the Ejército del Aire y del Espacio, the Spanish Air and Space Force, among them the 12 Combat Wing with F-18 fighters and the official planes of the President of the Government and the King of Spain. It is also the base of the European Union's Satellite Centre (EUSC). The airport was formerly home to U.S. Air Force squadrons at Torrejón Air Base and is located fifteen miles (24 km) northeast of Madrid, five miles (8 km) west of Alcalá de Henares, and one mile (1.6 km) NE of Torrejón de Ardoz.

Torrejón Air Base (IATA: TOJ, ICAO: LETO) (Base Aérea de Torrejón de Ardoz) is both a major Spanish Air and Space Force base and the co-located Madrid–Torrejón Airport, a secondary civilian airport for the city and metropolitan area of Madrid, east-northeast of the city center in central Spain.

Pabellón Jorge Garbajosa, formerly known as Pabellón Parque Corredor, is an indoor arena located in Torrejón de Ardoz, Community of Madrid, Spain. It is mainly used by Inter Movistar for its futsal games.

The Circuito del Jarama (Circuit of Jarama), formerly known as Circuito Permanente del Jarama (Permanent circuit of Jarama) is a motorsport racetrack located in San Sebastián de los Reyes, 20 miles (32 km) north of Madrid. It was home to the Spanish Grand Prix nine times between 1968 and 1981, and the Spanish motorcycle Grand Prix 15 times between 1969 and 1988. Designed by John Hugenholtz (who also created Suzuka), the 3.850 km (2.392 mi) circuit was built by Alessandro Rocci in 1967 on arid scrub land.

The 1980 Spanish Grand Prix (formally the XXVI Gran Premio de España) was a Formula One motor race held on 1 June 1980 at Circuito Permanente del Jarama. Originally scheduled to be part of the 1980 World Championship of Drivers, following the running of the race it was announced that World Championship points would not be awarded to the competitors, making it a non-championship race. The winner of the race was Alan Jones, driving for the Williams team. Jochen Mass finished second for Arrows and Elio de Angelis third for Team Lotus. Owing to disputes as part of the FISA–FOCA war, the race went ahead without the manufacturer teams of Ferrari, Alfa Romeo and Renault, because the Fédération Internationale du Sport Automobile (FISA), then the governing body of Formula One, had declared the race illegal. The other teams drove the race, now sanctioned by the Formula One Constructors Association (FOCA). All teams competing in the race ran Ford engines. Carlos Reutemann, Nelson Piquet and Didier Pironi all retired from the race whilst in the lead, Reutemann due to a collision and Pironi and Piquet because of mechanical problems. Only six of the twenty-two drivers who took the start of the race made it to the end, and only three were on the lead lap.

Aeropuerto is a ward (barrio) of Madrid belonging to the district of Barajas. Its borders are coterminous with those of the Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport, after which it is named.

The European Union Satellite Centre (EU SatCen; previously EUSC) is the agency of the European Union (EU) that supports the EU's decision-making in the field of the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP), including crisis management missions and operations. It provides products and services resulting from the exploitation of relevant space assets and collateral data, including satellite and aerial imagery, and related services. SatCen is headquartered in the Torrejón Air Base, located in the Spanish municipality of the same name, in the vicinity of Madrid. The staff of the centre, headed by Director Sorin Dumitru Ducaru, consists of experienced image analysts, geospatial specialists and supporting personnel, recruited from EU Member States. Experts seconded from Member States work at the SatCen for periods ranging from six months to three years. Temporary staff are recruited as needed. SatCen assures technical development activities in direct support to its operational activities, as well as specialised training for image analysts.
