Aeropuerto is a ward (barrio) of Madrid belonging to the district of Barajas. Its borders are coterminous with those of the Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport, after which it is named.

The kidnapping and murder of Anabel Segura, a 22-year-old university student happened on 12 April 1993. Segura was kidnapped by Emilio Muñoz Guadix with the help of his friend, Candido "Candi" Ortiz Aon while she was jogging in La Moraleja, Madrid, Spain. Segura was held captive in an abandoned factory in Numancia de la Sagra, Toledo. Segura tried to escape, but did not succeed. She was strangled to death and buried on the grounds of the abandoned factory. On numerous occasions, Ortiz and Muñoz asked for money in exchange for Segura's false release, however, the kidnappers never went to the meeting points for the ransom money. Three months later, in July 1993, Muñoz and Ortiz sent the family a tape recording in which the supposed voice of Segura could be heard, who said she was fine while crying out to be taken out of there. But in reality, it was the voice of Felisa Garcia, Muñoz's wife. On 28 September 1995, Muñoz and Ortiz were captured and confessed to the kidnapping and murder of Segura, as well as the location of her body. Muñoz's wife, García, was also arrested for pretending to be Segura in the tape. In 1999, Muñoz and Ortiz were sentenced to 43 years in prison. Segura's kidnapping received extensive media coverage and made headline news, it was a case that "shocked Spanish society". The case was monitored by the media for two years after the "kidnapping".

Aeropuerto T4 is a station on Line 8 of Madrid Metro and Lines C-1 and C-10 of Cercanías Madrid on the lower level of the new terminal T4 of Madrid-Barajas Airport. The metro station was opened on 3 May 2007 and the commuter rail station was opened on 22 September 2011; and presents the particularity of requiring the payment of a special supplement of €1 for users of single ticket or Metrobus, the same way it happens in the station Airport T1-T2-T3. It is located in fare Zone A.The Cercanías Madrid station runs in parallel to the Metro and can be seen from one platform to the other. The station was built along with the civil works of the airport terminal and a train station.

On December 30, 2006, a van bomb exploded in the Terminal 4 parking area at the Madrid–Barajas Airport in Spain, killing two and injuring 52. On January 9, 2007, the Basque nationalist and separatist organisation ETA claimed responsibility for the attack. The attack, one of the most powerful carried out by ETA, damaged the airport terminal and destroyed the entire parking structure. The bombing ended a nine-month ceasefire declared by the armed organisation and prompted the government to halt plans for negotiations with the organisation. Despite the attack, ETA claimed that the ceasefire was still in place and regretted the death of civilians. The organisation eventually announced the end of the ceasefire in June 2007. Ordered and planned by then head of commandos Miguel Garikoitz Aspiazu Rubina alias Txeroki, the attack was carried out by the "commando Elurra", whose members were arrested in early 2008 and sentenced for the attack in May 2010. Txeroki was arrested in November 2008 and was condemned to prison in 2011.

Unión Deportiva San Sebastián de los Reyes, also known as Sanse is a Spanish football team based in San Sebastián de los Reyes, in the autonomous community of Madrid. Founded in 1971 it plays in Primera División RFEF – Group 1, holding home matches at Estadio Nuevo Matapiñonera, with a capacity of 3,000 seats.

Paracuellos del Jarama is a small town and municipality in the Community of Madrid, Spain. It is located northeast from Madrid and very close to Madrid-Barajas Airport. The etymology of the name is unclear.In 1936, it (along with Torrejón de Ardoz) was the site of the Paracuellos massacres.

Casco Histórico de Barajas is an administrative neighborhood (barrio) of Madrid belonging to the district of Barajas. It has an area of 0.609202 km2 (0.235214 sq mi). As of 1 February 2020, it has a population of 7,735.
