Hood River Valley is the river basin of Hood River in northern Oregon, U.S. It is bounded by the Columbia River to the north, Mount Hood to the south, the Cascade Range crest to the west and an apparently unnamed ridge system to the east which contains Hood River Mountain and Snyder Canyon. Mount Hood National Forest surrounds the Hood River Valley west, south, and east. It is entirely contained in Hood River County. The only city in the valley is Hood River. The major unincorporated communities are Odell, Parkdale, Mount Hood, and Dee. The valley is known for its tree fruit agriculture—including one of the world's largest pear growing areas—farm tourism, and recreation related to its evergreen forested mountains providing opportunities such as hiking, mountain biking, whitewater sports, camping, and 31 fishing lakes. On the Columbia River is one of the top rated water sports areas in the world, particularly for kite boarding and wind surfing. On Mount Hood, snow sports draw thousands daily primarily at Mount Hood Meadows, but also Cooper Spur ski area on the east side of Mount Hood. Alpine hiking and mountain climbing are popular as well.

Dee is an unincorporated community and former company town in Hood River County, Oregon, United States, on Oregon Route 281, about 11 miles south of Hood River.

Odell is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Hood River County, Oregon, United States. Odell was named for an early pioneer, William Odell, a native of Tennessee by way of California, who settled in the area in 1861. The population was 2,255 as of the 2010 census.

Vinzenz Lausmann Memorial State Natural Area is a state park in northern Hood River County, Oregon, 5.3 miles (8.5 km) west of the city of Hood River, and is administered by the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department. It is located in the Columbia River Gorge, adjacent to an abandoned section of the Historic Columbia River Highway. This park is one of a trio encompassing areas in the vicinity of Mitchell Point, along with Seneca Fouts Memorial State Natural Area and Wygant State Natural Area. The three parks offer scenic hiking and views over the Gorge. The 126 acres (51 ha) of the park were donated to the state of Oregon by the family of Vinzenz Lausmann, and named in his memory. Vinzenz Lausmann Memorial State Natural Area lies within the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area.

Mitchell Point is a cape in the Columbia River Gorge in Hood River County, Oregon, United States.Little is known about the man named Mitchell for whom the point was named. He was believed to be a trapper who lived and died in the area. There have been some efforts to rename the point Storm Crest, but they have not been successful.The now-demolished Mitchell Point Tunnel on the Historic Columbia River Highway was bored through the point, which is a cliff that overhangs the Columbia River. The part of the rock through which the tunnel passed was known to the local Native Americans as Little Storm King, and the larger mountain above that point was known as Great Storm King.

Wygant State Natural Area is a state park in northern Hood River County, Oregon, just west of the city of Hood River, and is administered by the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department. It is located in the Columbia River Gorge, adjacent to an abandoned section of the Historic Columbia River Highway. This park is one of a trio encompassing areas in the vicinity of Mitchell Point, along with Seneca Fouts Memorial State Natural Area and Vinzenz Lausmann Memorial State Natural Area. The three parks offers scenic hiking and views over the Gorge. There are no facilities. It is primarily a hiking trail through dense forested, mountainous wilderness. The first mile or so is on a paved road, abandoned since about 1960, when I-84 opened. The park website indicates that the trail has prairie and desert portions.Wygant State Natural Area lies within the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area.

The Western Antique Aeroplane and Automobile Museum (WAAAM) is located in Hood River, Oregon, United States, adjacent to the Ken Jernstedt Memorial Airport. WAAAM is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization committed to the preservation of, and education about aviation, automobile, and other historic transportation-related relics. WAAAM is open to the public every day 9:00-5:00 except Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. WAAAM has special activities the second Saturday of every month. The museum features flying demonstrations, auto demonstrations, and restoration demonstrations, though events vary month to month. The museum's biggest event is the annual Hood River Fly-In held the first weekend after Labor Day every year, and features antique aircraft and automobiles from throughout North America.

The three parks offers scenic hiking and views over the Gorge. Seneca Fouts Memorial State Natural Area lies within the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area.

Lenz is an unincorporated community in Hood River County, Oregon, United States just west of Oregon Route 35 about a mile and a half east of Odell. This station on the Mount Hood Railroad was named after John Lenz, an early settler. Lenz Butte and Lenz Creek are nearby. The name of the station has also been spelled Lentz and was also known as "Sherman Spur". The elevation is 732 feet (223 m).

Ken Jernstedt Airfield (FAA LID: 4S2) is a public airport located two miles (3.2 km) south of the city of Hood River in Hood River County, Oregon, United States. The fixed-base operator is TacAero, which also bases its tailwheel flight school there. It flies a large fleet of Piper J3 Cubs and Super Cubs and are a big attraction for tourists wanting a scenic flight around the city and Mount Hood. The airport is named after Kenneth Jernstedt, a former state legislator, mayor of Hood River, and World War II Flying Tigers aviator.

The Mitchell Point Tunnel was a tunnel located towards the eastern end of the Historic Columbia River Highway in Oregon, United States. It existed from 1915 to 1966.

Hood River Valley High School is a public high school in Hood River, Oregon, United States. It was the result of the consolidation of two smaller high schools at the time of its founding.
