Ferrel (Peniche)

Baleal is a small island located 3 kilometres (1.9 miles) north of Peniche, in the Oeste region of Portugal, separated from the mainland by a tombolo. At the extremity of the island one can find the inaccessible ilhota das Pombas and the ilhéu de Fora. Baleal has a past related to whaling. This small island was the site of the cutting and carving of whales on their migratory route to the northern seas. Located in the region of Peniche, Baleal has become a major vacation spot with a potential for water sports almost unmatched in Europe. The coastal shape, namely the bay and northern strip of coast associated with Baleal create unique conditions in Europe for the practice of surfing and body boarding.

Serra d'El-Rei became a town on July 1, 2003. It was at Serra d'El-Rei that King Peter I of Portugal lived with his lover Inês de Castro. His 14th-century castle in the town is now divided into three private living houses today. Serra d'El-Rei is 7 km (4.3 mi) west of the historic walled-town of Óbidos, and 10 km east from Peniche.

The Fort Nossa Senhora da Consolação (Portuguese: Forte de Nossa Senhora da Consolação), also known as Fort of Consolação Beach (Portuguese: Forte da Praia da Consolação) is located on the Atlantic coast of Portugal in the parish of Atouguia da Baleia, in the municipality of Peniche in Leiria District. It was built in 1645 during the Portuguese Restoration War on the initiative of D. Jerónimo de Ataíde, 6th Count of Atouguia and Lord of Peniche.

The Peniche Fortress is located in the municipality of Peniche in Leiria District, Portugal. Built on the site of the former Castle of Atouguia da Baleia, of which only a few vestiges remain, initial construction took place in 1557 and 1558 but there have been numerous subsequent modifications. Its defensive walls surround an area of two hectares, divided into upper and lower parts. The fortress has served a number of functions including that of a political prison during the authoritarian Estado Novo regime.

Abelheira is a village in the Lourinhã Municipality of Portugal. Abelheira is one of the smallest villages in the Lourinhã Municipality. It has a recreation center, a café, a church and a cemetery. It also has a nearby beach. Though small, it is a very beautiful town, and most people there are farmers.

Furninha, also known as Dominique's cave, is a natural cave on the southern slope of the Peniche peninsula in Portugal. The cave is situated on the cliffs between the Peniche Fortress and the Cape Carvoeiro. The cave is located furthest west of any Neanderthal site. Neanderthals became extinct over 40,000 years ago. The cave was also inhabited by modern humans during the Neolithic.
