Locking Castle

RAF Locking was a Royal Air Force station near the village of Locking and about 3 miles (4.8 km) from Weston-super-Mare in North Somerset, England. During the period 1939 to 2000, the station trained tens of thousands of engineers in the maintenance of aircraft then radar, radio and computers.

LeisureDome was a proposed indoor ski slope for Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, England. It was to be located on the site of the former RAF Locking, which closed in 1999. Planning permission for the LeisureDome was granted by North Somerset Council on 21 July 2011. Subject to final approval by the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, construction, which was estimated at £50 million, was expected to commence in December 2011. The ski slope was originally planned to open in early 2013, but construction was delayed, later cancelled. In 2015, the future of the project was in doubt because of the need for additional funding, and no mention of the LeisureDome proposals appear on the information provided by St. Modwen Properties, the developers about their plans for Locking Parklands as the site is now known.

Locking is a village and civil parish in Somerset, England. It is a predominantly quiet residential area of North Somerset, 3.5 miles (5.6 km) south east of the town of Weston-super-Mare. As well as a pub and church the village has a village hall, school (Locking Primary School), a small shop and post office, a hairdressers, a Chinese takeaway, a pet care shop, florist, pharmacy, cafe and petrol service station comprising car sales and a mechanical workshop. The village gave its name to RAF Locking, which has now closed and proposals are under consideration for an employment and residential development for the site that could deliver 25 hectare (62 acres) of employment space and up to 1,800 new homes. In July 2011, North Somerset Council gave planning permission for the £50 million LeisureDome to be constructed on the site. It will contain a 210-metre (690 ft) indoor ski slope, other leisure facilities and a number of shops and restaurants.

Worle railway station, on the Bristol to Exeter line, serves the Worle, West Wick and St Georges suburbs of Weston-super-Mare in North Somerset, England. It is 16 miles (26 km) west of Bristol Temple Meads railway station, and 134 miles (216 km) from London Paddington. Its three-letter station code is WOR. It was opened in 1990 by British Rail. The station, which has two platforms, is managed by Great Western Railway, the seventh company to be responsible for the station, and the third franchise since privatisation in 1997. They provide all train services at the station, mainly half hourly services between Severn Beach and Weston-super-Mare, and between Cardiff Central and Taunton. The station's car park was significantly expanded in 2013. The line through Worle is not electrified, but there is significant local support for it to be electrified as part of the 21st-century modernisation of the Great Western Main Line, partly motivated by worries that unless the line is electrified, Weston-super-Mare will lose direct services to London.

The Helicopter Museum in Weston-super-Mare, North Somerset, England, is a museum featuring a collection of more than 80 helicopters and autogyros from around the world, both civilian and military. It is based at the southeastern corner of the former Weston-super-Mare Airport and is the largest collection of helicopters in the world.

Worle Community School - an Academy (often shortened to WCSA) is a coeducational secondary school academy located in Worle, a suburb of Weston-super-Mare in North Somerset, England. There are currently 1,348 students aged 11 to 16 in the school.The school received media attention in early 2016 after a student was stabbed. Shortly after, an Ofsted inspection revealed the school to perform inadequately in every aspect, resulting being placed into special measures. In order to increase the school's performance, on March 1, 2017, Worle Community School became an academy as part of The Priory Learning Trust.

Winterstoke Hundred Academy (formerly North Somerset Enterprise and Technology College) is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form located in Weston-super-Mare, North Somerset, England.It is a free school sponsored by the Cabot Learning Federation. The school is named after the historic Hundred of Winterstoke.

Worle ( WURL) is a large village in North Somerset which is joined to the seaside town of Weston-super-Mare on its western edge. It, however, maintains a very separate identity, and may now be bigger than its more famous neighbour. Worle pre-dates Weston and was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086. In the book, it is said that Worle was owned by Walter of Douai, and consisted of 750 acres (3.0 km2) and valued at 6.5 hides. "Walter of Douai holds of the King, Worle. Edgar held it in the time of King Edward, and gelded for six hides and a half." The parish church of St Martin's sits on the side of Worlebury Hill and overlooks the village.

Priory Community School - an Academy Trust (often shortened to PCSA) is a school in Worle, a historical village close to Weston-super-Mare in North Somerset, England. The school is an Academy, part of The Priory Learning Trust, and had 1,264 pupils aged 11 to 16 as of September 2015. Ofsted rated Priory 'outstanding' in all categories in November 2014. Priory converted to an Academy Trust on 17 August 2011

The Church of St Martin in Worle within the English county of Somerset has Norman origins. It is a Grade II* listed building.
