The Taiwanese Ambassador to Haiti is the official representative of the Republic of China to the Republic of Haiti.

Pétion-Ville (Haitian Creole: Petyonvil) is a commune and a suburb of Port-au-Prince, Haiti, in the hills east and separate from the city itself on the northern hills of the Massif de la Selle. Founded in 1831 by president Jean-Pierre Boyer, it was named after Alexandre Sabès Pétion (1770–1818), the Haitian general and president later recognized as one of the country's four founding fathers. The district is primarily a residential and touristic area. It had a population of 283,052 at the 2003 Census, which was officially estimated to have reached 376,834 in 2015. Many diplomats, foreign merchants and wealthy people who engage in business reside in Pétion-Ville. Despite the distance from the capital and the general affluence of the district, the lack of administrative enforcement has led to the formation of shantytowns on the outer edges of the district, as poor locals migrate upward and have settled there in search of job opportunities. On 28 or 29 August 2020, Haitian Lawyer Monferrier Dorval was assassinated in front of his home. On 7 July 2021, Haitian president Jovenel Moïse was assassinated at his private residence between 1:00-2:00 AM local time.

The St. Jean Bosco massacre took place in Haiti on 11 September 1988. At least 13 people (it is impossible to say how many; some sources say 50) were killed and around 80 wounded in a three-hour assault on the Saint-Jean Bosco church in Port-au-Prince, which saw the church burned down. The church was the parish of future President Jean-Bertrand Aristide, then a liberation theology Roman Catholic priest of the Salesians of Don Bosco order, and had been packed with 1000 people for Sunday mass. Aristide, who had survived at least six attempts on his life after a fiery 1985 Mass had helped spark the unrest which eventually led to the 1986 overthrow of the dictator Jean-Claude Duvalier, was evacuated from the church into a residence inside the church compound. According to the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, the following day, "five men and one woman appeared on the government controlled television station (Télé Nationale) and admitted their participation in the attack on the church. They threatened a 'heap of corpses' at any future mass celebrated by Aristide. Many people were outraged that these individuals could appear on television, without any disguise, confess their participation in these events and threaten future criminal acts with no fear of being arrested by the authorities." The massacre contributed to the emergence a week later of the September 1988 Haitian coup d'état against the Henri Namphy regime, which brought to power Prosper Avril. In 1993 Antoine Izméry was assassinated at a mass commemorating the massacre.

The Pétion-Ville school collapse occurred on November 7, 2008, in Pétion-Ville, a suburb of Port-au-Prince, Haiti, when the church-operated Collège La Promesse Évangélique ("The Evangelical Promise School") collapsed at around 10:00 a.m. local time (15:00 GMT). About 700 students from kindergarten through high school attended the school; however, it is unclear how many were in the three-story building when it collapsed. At least 93 people, mostly children, were confirmed killed, and over 150 injured. At least 35 students, 13 girls and 22 boys, were rescued from the rubble alive on November 8.

The Apostolic Nunciature to Haiti the diplomatic mission of the Holy See to Haiti. It is located in Port-au-Prince. The current Apostolic Nuncio is Archbishop Francisco Escalante Molina, who was named to the position by Pope Francis on 4 June 2021. The Apostolic Nunciature to the Republic of Haiti is an ecclesiastical office of the Catholic Church in Haiti, with the rank of an embassy. The nuncio serves both as the ambassador of the Holy See to the President of Haiti, and as delegate and point-of-contact between the Catholic hierarchy in Haiti and the Pope.

Jovenel Moïse, the 43rd president of Haiti, was assassinated on 7 July 2021 at 1 am EDT (UTC−04:00) at his residence in Port-au-Prince. A group of 28 foreign mercenaries, mostly from Colombia, are alleged to be responsible for the killing. First Lady Martine Moïse was also shot multiple times in the attack, and was airlifted to the United States for emergency treatment. Later in the day, USGPN (L'Unité de Sécurité Générale du Palais National, or The General Security Unit of the National Palace, headed by Dimitri Herard) killed three of the suspected assassins and arrested 20 more. A manhunt was launched for other gunmen as well as the masterminds of the attack. Haitian chief prosecutor Bedford Claude confirmed plans to question Moïse's top bodyguards; none of the president's security guards were killed or injured in the attack. US authorities have since arrested eleven suspects alleged to have conspired in the assassination. Martine Moïse and former prime minister Claude Joseph were formally charged on 19 February 2024 with conspiring in the assassination.

The 1751 Port-au-Prince earthquake occurred at 12:50 UTC on 21 November in French Haiti, followed by a tsunami. Another earthquake was reported at the same location on 15 September of the same year and it is uncertain whether the two reports refer to the same event.

Union School is a private, co-educational, and non-sectarian Pre-K to 12 institution established in Pétion-Ville, Port-au-Prince Arrondissement, Haiti for the purpose of providing an American accredited program of studies in both English and French for students of all nationalities. Union School is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Union School, a university preparatory school, is considered to be an "elite" institution within Haiti.

The Port-au-Prince Haiti Temple is a temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) in the Port-au-Prince suburb of Pétionville, Haiti. It is located adjacent to an existing meetinghouse at the intersection of Route de Frères (Delmas 105) and Impasse Saint-Marc (Frères 23).

The National Archives of Haiti were first established in 1860. The archives hold the records of the office of the President and most government ministries. They are currently participating in the Digital Library of the Caribbean's Protecting Haitian Patrimony Initiative.

Thomassin is a neighborhood on the mountainside south of Pétion-Ville, Haiti. Many upper-class citizens reside in the area.

Collège Soeurs de La Charité de Saint-Louis de Bourdon or simply Collège Saint-Louis de Bourdon is a private, Roman Catholic institution located in the borough of Bourdon, situated between the center of Port-au-Prince in Pétion-Ville, Haiti. The school follows the Haitian education system, with a primary school offering grades 13 (or k)-6, and a secondary schools from grade 7-to philo.
