Riddarholmen Church

The Greyfriars Monastery (Swedish: Gråmunkeklostret) on the island of Riddarholmen in Stockholm was a monastery for males of the Franciscan Order, in operation from 1270 until the Swedish Reformation of 1527.

Riddarholmsbron (Swedish: [ˈrɪ̂dːarhɔlmsˌbruːn], "The Knights Islet bridge") is a bridge in Gamla stan, the old town in central Stockholm, Sweden, leading from the square Riddarhustorget on Stadsholmen to the smaller neighbouring island Riddarholmen.

The Old Parliament House (Swedish: Gamla riksdagshuset), is the former seat of the Parliament of Sweden (Riksdag). It was used until January 1905, when the building on Helgeandsholmen was inaugurated.It is located at Birger Jarls torg, on the Riddarholmen (island), in central Stockholm.

Gamla Riksarkivet (Old National Archives) is a building at Arkivgatan 3 on Riddarholmen in Stockholm, Sweden. Riksarkivet, the Swedish National Archives, were located in the building until 1968. The 19th century Brick Romanesque architecture of the building is alluding to the medieval history of Riddarholmen. The plan of the building is, however, typical for public buildings of its era, the grand style central portion clearly articulated in the façade together with the huge windows of the reading-room. The building is connected to the Stenbock Palace where the archive was once started in 1863. It is also similar in style to the Norstedt Building located just north of it.

The House of Nobility (Swedish: Riddarhuset) in Stockholm, Sweden, is a corporation and a building that maintains records and acts as an interest group on behalf of the Swedish nobility.

Hebbes Bro (Swedish: "Bridge of Hebbe") is a pedestrian bridge in Gamla stan, the old town of Stockholm, Sweden, connecting the two islands Riddarholmen and Stadsholmen. The bridge was given the name in 1924 after the building next to it owned by Simon Hebbe (1726–1803), manager at the East India Company, shipowner, and head of division of the national board of trade. In 1856-1866 the building in question was incorporated into the Old Parliament Building, which until 1905 was the location for the Riksdag.

Riddarholmen (Swedish: [ˈrɪ̂dːarˌhɔlːmɛn], "The Knights' Islet") is a small islet in central Stockholm, Sweden. The island forms part of Gamla Stan, the old town, and houses a number of private palaces dating back to the 17th century. The main landmark is the church Riddarholmskyrkan, used as Sweden's royal burial church from the 17th century to 1950, and where a number of earlier Swedish monarchs also lie buried. The western end of the island gives a magnificent panoramic and photogenic view of the bay Riddarfjärden, often used by TV journalists with Stockholm City Hall in the background. A statue of Birger Jarl, traditionally considered the founder of Stockholm, stands on a pillar in front of the Bonde Palace, north of Riddarholm Church. Other notable buildings include the Old Parliament Building in the south-eastern corner, the Old National Archive on the eastern shore, and the Norstedt Building, the old printing house of the publisher Norstedts, the tower roof of which is a well-known silhouette on the city's skyline.

Riddarhuskajen (Swedish: "Quay of the House of Knights") is a quay in Gamla stan, the old town in central Stockholm, Sweden. Located north of both the square Riddarhustorget and the House of Knights, it stretches east from the north-western corner of the island Stadsholmen to the bridge Vasabron and the alley Riddarhusgränd. Just west of the quay passes the motorway Centralbron, while the quay Kanslikajen forms an eastward extension leading past Kanslihuset to Stallbron and Mynttorget. The two wings of the House of Knights were completed in 1870 to the design of A W Edelsvärd (1824–1919), otherwise mostly remembered for his standard design of Swedish railway stations. The gardens of the building as completed are but a pale reminiscence of the original intentions which reflects the decline of power of the Swedish nobility, and still, the present state of things hardly give any indications of the character of the place in the early-19th century — a row of hovels in stone and wood lined up along the present quay hid the heap of rubbish where the statue of Axel Oxenstierna is found today, while a harbour surrounded by a wooden paling extended the premises into the water.The current name of the quay was proposed in 1921 and made official in 1925.

Riddarhustorget (Swedish: [ˈrɪ̂dːarhʉːsˌtɔrjɛt], "Square of the House of Knights") is a public square in Gamla stan, the old town in central Stockholm, Sweden, named after its location in front of the House of Knights (Riddarhuset). The present square, largely occupied by the through traffic to and from Munkbroleden and Vasabron, and surrounded by old palaces occupied by modestly extrovert state-level offices, is the faint remains of what used to be the centre of Swedish politics; the palace of the Swedish nobility standing face-to-face with the emergent Liberal press, the entire scene using the idyllic eastern canal as a backdrop.

Riddarhusgränd (Swedish: "House of Knights' Alley") is an alley in Gamla stan, the old town in central Stockholm, Sweden. Stretching north from the square Riddarhustorget to the bridge Vasabron, it passes between the Swedish House of Knights (Riddarhuset) and the Bonde Palace forming a parallel street to Rådhusgränd. On either side of its northern end are the quays Riddarhuskajen and Kanslikajen.

The Norstedt Building (Swedish: Norstedtshuset) is the main office of P.A. Norstedt & Söner AB on Riddarholmen in Stockholm, Sweden. Designed by Magnus Isæus the building was built in 1882–1891, and features a spire-like roof, which is a well-known silhouette on the skyline of central Stockholm. The Vasabron Bridge passes in front of the building and Gamla Riksarkivet ("Old National Archive") lies south of it.
