Belchamp St Paul is a village and civil parish in the Braintree district of Essex, England. The village is 5 miles (8 km) west of Sudbury, Suffolk, and 23 miles (37 km) northeast of the county town, Chelmsford. The parish is northwest of Belchamp Otten and Belchamp Walter, in the parliamentary constituency of Braintree, and part of the Stour Valley. It had a population of 331 (2011 census). The parish includes the hamlet of Knowl Green. Arthur Golding, the 16th-century poet, grew up at the manor and is buried in the churchyard of St Andrew's; a memorial to him is within the church. General Sir Timothy Creasey KCB OBE, a British Army officer who became General Officer Commanding of the British Army in Northern Ireland, and the commander of the Sultan of Oman's Armed Forces, is buried in the churchyard. It is located approximately 5 km (3.1 mi) west of Sudbury, Suffolk and is 35 km (22 miles) north-northeast from the county town of Chelmsford. It is near Belchamp St Paul and Belchamp Otten. The village is in the district of Braintree and in the parliamentary constituency of Braintree. The parish is part of the Stour Valley South parish cluster and has a population of 198 (2011 census).Belchamp Hall is a country house in the village which stands near the church. It was the filming location for the fictional "Felsham Hall" in the "Lovejoy" television series.

Knowl Green is a hamlet in the civil parish of Belchamp St Paul and the Braintree district of Essex, England. The hamlet is approximately 6 miles (10 km) west from the town of Sudbury, Suffolk and 23 miles (37 km) north-northeast from the county town and city of Chelmsford. It is where Gage's Road from Belchamp St Paul village at the north-east, and Belchamps Road from Tilbury Juxta Clare at the south-west, meet at the junction of Pollard's Green Lane which leads north to Ovington. Knowl Green comprises houses, cottages, two farms with associated buildings, and the Cherry Tree public house. The Cherry Tree was recorded as such in 1933. An arm of Belchamp Brook, a tributary of the River Stour, rises at the north of Knowl Green and flows by the hamlet.There are seven Grade II listed buildings in Knowl Green. Hole Farmhouse is an early 19th-century timber-framed house at the north of the junction, with, 44 yards (40 m) to the south, an associated timber-framed and weatherboarded late 19th-century cartshed. Woodbarn's Farmhouse, at the south of the junction, is a timber-framed and plastered house dating to the 15th century. At the west of the hamlet on Belchamp Road are two conjoined two-storey 18th-century cottages, timber-framed, with brick corners and flint infill. At the east of the hamlet at the north side of Gage's Road is a 17th-century timber-framed thatch-roofed cottage. Opposite, and set back at the south of the road is a further 17th-century timber-framed thatch-roofed cottage. Near this cottage, and on Gage's Road, is The Cherry Tree Inn, timber-framed and plastered, and with gable dormers, dating to the late 17th century, with a 20th-century extension.

Pentlow is a village and civil parish in the Braintree district, in the county of Essex, England. It is just south of the River Stour, and nearby settlements include the villages of Foxearth and Cavendish and the hamlet of Pentlow Street.

Belchamp Hall is a Queen Anne style country house in Belchamp Walter, near Braintree, Essex, England. It is a privately owned Grade II* listed building.It is constructed of red brick in two storeys in a double-pile plan form with a gabled peg-tile roof with attics. The front facade has nine bays with a parapet. The central bay projects and is surmounted by a pediment. The house was built c.1720 in place of an original Elizabethan house and offers good views across the valley of the Belchamp Brook to the village of Bulmer. The interior panelling is Elizabethan or Jacobean, probably from the original building. Numerous family portraits by well-known artists decorate the walls. The surrounding parkland, significantly reduced in size since 1741, is itself Grade II listed.

Gestingthorpe (pronounced GEST-ing-thorp, 'guesstingthorpe') is a village and a civil parish in the Braintree district, in the English county of Essex. It is approximately halfway between the towns of Halstead in Essex and Sudbury in Suffolk. The nearest railway station is in Sudbury, which offers a shuttle service to Marks Tey and at the extremes of the day to Colchester. The village is situated at a set of crossroads, North End Road, Nether Hill, Sudbury Road and Church Street. In the 19th century the Manor of Over Hall in Gestingthorpe was the home of the Oates family, whose most famous son, the Antarctic explorer Captain Lawrence Oates, was born in Putney, London on 16 March 1880. The Oates were originally a West Riding of Yorkshire family until they succeeded to the manor. In 1913 his brother officers erected a memorial to Captain Oates in the parish church of St Mary the Virgin. Just north of the village is Gestingthorpe Roman Villa, the site of a farmstead in the Celtic and Roman periods. The site has produced many archaeological finds including roof tiles, glass and a small ring with an engraving of a lion attacking a deer. The property remains a working farm, but visitors are accepted by appointment.The parish church of St Mary the Virgin is a Grade I listed building.The church has a ring of 6 bells.

Cavendish railway station was a station that served the village of Cavendish in Suffolk, England. It opened in 1865 on the Stour Valley Railway between Sudbury and Cambridge. The station and line closed in 1967 as part of the Beeching cuts.

Ovington is a small village in north Essex, England. The village is situated about three miles (5 km) from the village of Clare. It consists of St. Mary's Church, and a few houses. There is the air traffic of Ridgewell Airfield. (Usually gliders and sometimes military training exercises.) The population of the village is included in the civil parish of Tilbury Juxta Clare. The earliest mention of this place is in the Domesday Book of 1086, where it is mentioned together with Hedingham Castle and listed amongst the lands given to Roger Bigod by the King. The land given to Roger included 24 acres (97,000 m2) of meadow that was (in total) valued at four pounds.

Stour Valley Community School is a coeducational free school for pupils aged 11 to 16 in Clare in the English county of Suffolk. It opened in September 2011 as one of the first 24 free schools in England. It opened with around 170 pupils and a total staff of 29, including non-teaching support staff. The headteacher is Rachel Kelly.The school opened on the site of the former Clare Middle School which had around 300 pupils in four year groups. A building programme estimated to cost around £4.8 million and take around a year to complete and carried out by Balfour Beatty. The middle school closed in August 2011 as part of Suffolk County Council's reorganisation of schools into a two-tier system.At the beginning of the autumn term (starting in September) of 2016, the school had 573 pupils.
