Cavendish Woods is a 53.5-hectare (132-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest north-west of Glemsford in Suffolk.These ancient woods are managed as coppice with standards. The main standard tree is oak, and the flora is diverse, including the uncommon oxlip. There are many fallow deer, and breeding birds include woodcock, snipe and treecreeper.The woods are in four blocks, Shadowbush Wood adjacent to Long Wood, King's Wood, Northay Wood and Easty Wood. A public footpath goes through Easty Wood.

Risbridge is a hundred of Suffolk, consisting of 58,468 acres (236.61 km2).Risbridge Hundred forms the south western corner of Suffolk extending 15 miles (24 km) from north to south and between 4 and 9 miles (14 km) in breadth. It is bounded on the west by Cambridgeshire on the south by Essex, on the east by Babergh and Thingoe Hundreds and on the north by Lackford Hundred. It is in the Franchise or Liberty of St Edmund, in the Archdeaconry of Sudbury, Deanery of Clare and Diocese of Ely. The southern boundary with Essex is formed by the River Stour and the hundred is crossed by a number of streams. It is generally a fertile agricultural area with predominantly clay soil. The major towns in the hundred are Clare and Haverhill. Listed as Risebruge in the Domesday Book, the meaning of the name is not fully understood but probably "Hrisa's bridge" or a similar personal name. The bridge in question would almost certainly have crossed the Stour, an important crossing at a time when bridges were rare. However similar place-names (ex: Ricebridge near Leigh in Surrey, Risbro in Sweden) are believed to have been bridges with a causeway over marshy land made from brushwood (ris) held by wooden pegs.

Belchamp St Paul is a village and civil parish in the Braintree district of Essex, England. The village is 5 miles (8 km) west of Sudbury, Suffolk, and 23 miles (37 km) northeast of the county town, Chelmsford. The parish is northwest of Belchamp Otten and Belchamp Walter, in the parliamentary constituency of Braintree, and part of the Stour Valley. It had a population of 331 (2011 census). The parish includes the hamlet of Knowl Green. Arthur Golding, the 16th-century poet, grew up at the manor and is buried in the churchyard of St Andrew's; a memorial to him is within the church. General Sir Timothy Creasey KCB OBE, a British Army officer who became General Officer Commanding of the British Army in Northern Ireland, and the commander of the Sultan of Oman's Armed Forces, is buried in the churchyard. The village is in the district of Braintree and in the parliamentary constituency of Braintree. The parish is part of the Stour Valley North parish cluster

Foxearth is a village and civil parish on the borders of north Essex and Suffolk in England, between Long Melford and Cavendish. The neighbouring parishes are Borley, Belchamp Walter, Belchamp Otten, Liston and Pentlow.

Stour Valley Community School is a coeducational free school for pupils aged 11 to 16 in Clare in the English county of Suffolk. It opened in September 2011 as one of the first 24 free schools in England. It opened with around 170 pupils and a total staff of 29, including non-teaching support staff. The headteacher is Rachel Kelly.The school opened on the site of the former Clare Middle School which had around 300 pupils in four year groups. A building programme estimated to cost around £4.8 million and take around a year to complete and carried out by Balfour Beatty. The middle school closed in August 2011 as part of Suffolk County Council's reorganisation of schools into a two-tier system.At the beginning of the autumn term (starting in September) of 2016, the school had 573 pupils.

The station and line closed in 1967 as part of the Beeching cuts.The platforms, station building, waiting room and a goods shed are within the Clare Castle Country Park.

Clare Castle Country Park in Suffolk, England, was created around the ruins of Clare Castle and incorporates the now defunct Clare railway station on the Colchester to Cambridge branch of the Great Eastern Railway. There are several walks through the park and along the River Stour, as well as a nature trail, and the park lies on the Stour Valley Path and forms the end of the Bury to Clare walk. There is also a visitors centre in the former station with pictures of the site in former years.
