East Malling

East Malling railway station serves the village of East Malling in Kent, and is close to Ditton and Larkfield. It is 35 miles 64 chains (57.6 km) down the line from London Victoria. The station, and most trains serving it, are operated by Southeastern.

NIAB EMR is a horticultural and agricultural research institute at East Malling, Kent in England, with a specialism in fruit and clonally propagated crop production. In 2016, the institute became part of the NIAB Group.

It powered six watermills. The stream may have formerly been known as the Bradbourne, Bradbourne Lane in Ditton bearing witness to this name.

Larkfield Priory Hotel was a hotel, restaurant, bar and function venue in Larkfield, Kent. It benefited from being on the A20 London Road and is just 4 miles north west of the county town of Maidstone.

Larkfield is a village in Kent, part of the civil parish of East Malling and Larkfield in the borough of Tonbridge and Malling. Of the two parts of the parish, Larkfield is much more built-up, lying on and north of the main A20 road. The M20 motorway also passes through, with junction 4 residing at the centre of Leybourne on the A228. The name of Larkfield is literal and descriptive – it refers to the large numbers of skylarks found in the fields; its first recorded instance is in Domesday Book as Lavrochesfel.

Ditton is a large village and civil parish in the borough of Tonbridge and Malling in Kent, England. The village is 4.6 miles (7.4 km) west-northwest of Maidstone and 1.8 miles (2.9 km) east of West Malling. The parish, which is long and narrow, straddles the A20 (the old Dover to London road), with farmland to the south and industry to the north. It lies in the Medway Valley, on the northern edge of the Kent Weald, and adjoins the ancient parishes of Larkfield, Aylesford and Barming.

Larkfield & New Hythe Wanderers Football Club is a football club based in New Hythe, England. They are currently members of the Southern Counties East League Division One and play at Larkfield & New Hythe Sports Club.

Ditton Quarry is a 5.6-hectare (14-acre) Local Nature Reserve in Ditton, on the north-western outskirts of Maidstone in Kent. It is owned and managed by Ditton Parish Council.This former quarry has grassland and scrub, with diverse fauna including butterflies, foxes, rabbits, frogs, toads and newts. The meadow is rich in wild flowers.There is access from Kiln Barn Road

The August 1923 Air Union Farman Goliath crash occurred on 27 August 1923 when a Farman F.60 Goliath of Air Union crashed at East Malling, Kent, United Kingdom following an engine failure and reported panic amongst the passengers. One person was killed and nine were injured, including celebrated French actor Jean Murat.

The Finnish Sauna Bath London 1948, also known in the British context as the Finnish Olympic Sauna or the Cobdown Sauna (after its current location), is a sauna facility located in Cobdown Park, Aylesford, Kent, England.It was built by the Finnish timber building supplier Puutalo for use by the athletes and other members of the Finnish team at the London 1948 Olympics, in line with Finland's tradition of building 'Olympic saunas' for its athletes' use going back to the Paris 1924 games.The sauna was originally located in the athletes' village in Richmond Park, London, from where it was moved to the Reed Paper Mill in Aylesford a year later, and eventually from there to its current location nearby in 1957.Of single-storey, wooden, prefabricated construction, the building was designed by Finnish architect Toivo Jäntti. It comprises the sauna room as well as a washroom, a dressing/massage room, and a kitchen.The facility was in regular use until 2020, when it was closed down for safety reasons pending refurbishment.It is thought to be England's oldest purpose-built sauna still in use, and the oldest surviving Finnish 'Olympic sauna' anywhere in the world.In January 2024, the building received Grade II listed status from Historic England.
