Marazion Marsh

Marazion (; Cornish: Marhasyow) is a civil parish and town, on the shore of Mount's Bay in Cornwall, UK. It is 2 miles (3.2 km) east of Penzance and the tidal island of St Michael's Mount is half-a-mile offshore. At low water a causeway links it to the town and at high water passenger boats carry visitors between Marazion and St Michael's Mount. Marazion is a tourist resort with an active community of artists who produce and sell paintings and pottery in the town's art galleries. Marazion lies within the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Almost a third of Cornwall has AONB designation, with the same status and protection as a National Park. On the western side of the town is Marazion Marsh, a RSPB reserve and a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).

The Red River (Cornish: Dowr Amal, meaning boundary river) which discharges into the sea to the west of Marazion is one of two watercourses in Cornwall in southwest England, UK, which share this name. It rises in the parish of Towednack and flows in a generally southeasterly direction, passing through the parish of Ludgvan before turning to the southwest and discharging into Mount's Bay. It is bridged by numerous minor roads and paths but also by the B3311 road, the A30 road, the rail line between Hayle and Penzance and the A394 road.

Historically, St Michael's Mount was a Cornish counterpart of Mont-Saint-Michel in Normandy, France, with which it shares the same tidal island characteristics and a similar conical shape, though Mont-Saint-Michel is much taller.St Michael's Mount is one of 43 unbridged tidal islands that one can walk to from mainland Britain. Part of the island was designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest in 1995 for its geology.

Mount Haven Hotel is a hotel near the coast on the eastern side of the town of Marazion, Cornwall, England, UK, several miles east of Penzance. It is next to Chymorvah House and has panoramic views of St Michael's Mount and bay. The hotel's restaurant has been awarded an AA Rosette and in the summer tables are put out on the terrace which overlooks St Michael's Mount.

Crowlas is a village in Cornwall, England, on the A30 about three miles east of Penzance. It forms a small conurbation with Ludgvan within the parish of the same name. Long Rock (Cornish: Carrek Hyr) is a village in west Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. It is approximately 1 mile (1.6 km) east of Penzance and 1 mile (1.6 km) west of Marazion in the civil parish of Ludgvan. The village is named after the tidal Long Rock just offshore at grid reference SW498308. Long Rock is on the shore of Mount's Bay at the centre of the three-mile beach which stretches from Penzance to Marazion. The beach is backed by a seawall along which runs the main line railway and the South West Coast Path. A dual carriageway bypass carries the A30 road north of the village and the land beside the road has been extensively developed with light industry and a retail park. Penzance Heliport is situated between Long Rock and Penzance. The original heliport was demolished in 2014 and a Sainsburys supermarket, car park and trading estate was built on the site. In 2019 new heliport was built on a site opposite the heliport trading estate a hundred yards away from the original heliport and in the spring of 2020 commenced a scheduled service to the Scilly Isles.

Ludgvan ( LUJ-ən; Cornish: Lujuan) is a civil parish and village in Cornwall, England, UK, 2+1⁄2 miles (4.0 km) northeast of Penzance. Ludgvan village is split between Churchtown, on the hill, and Lower Quarter to the east, adjoining Crowlas. For the purposes of local government, Ludgvan elects a parish council every four years; the town elects a member to Cornwall Council under the Ludgvan division.
