The University Ground was a cricket ground in Barnwell, a suburb in northeast Cambridge, England. The ground was located off Mill Road and served as the University of Cambridge's main ground from 1821 to 1830. It was surrounded on three sides by open countryside and on one side by the New Barnwell Church. Today the ground no longer exists, with the vast majority of it becoming the Mill Road Cemetery in 1847.

The David Parr House is a preserved terraced house in Cambridge, with interior decoration in the Arts and Crafts style, executed by its owner, David Parr, between 1886 and 1926. The house is open to the public for guided tours in small groups.David Parr was a working-class Victorian decorative artist who worked for the Cambridge firm of F. R. Leach & Sons. The firm was a contractor to leading Arts and Crafts and Gothic Revival architects and designers, and Parr worked on projects for clients such as George Frederick Bodley, William Morris and Charles Eamer Kempe. In 1886 Parr purchased 186 Gwydir Street, a terraced house off Mill Road in Cambridge. Over 40 years he decorated his own home in the style of the notable interiors he worked on for his employers. After Parr's death in 1927 his widow, and later his granddaughter, preserved the house interiors over the next 87 years. In 2014 the house was purchased by a charity established to ensure its continued preservation, and a major conservation programme was undertaken. The house opened to the public in May 2019 and became a Grade II* listed building in 2020. At the same time, Leach's showroom at 3 St Mary's Passage was listed Grade II.

Mill Road Cemetery is a cemetery off Mill Road in the Petersfield area of Cambridge, England. Since 2001 the cemetery has been protected as a Grade II Listed site, and several of the tombs are also listed as of special architectural and historical interest.The cemetery was established in 1848 on a site formerly occupied by a cricket ground, as a collection of burial grounds for 13 city parishes (now 10 through amalgamation) whose churchyards had become full. A chapel built by George Gilbert Scott was demolished in 1954. An outline of the chapel in carved stone was completed in 2017 as a record and memorial, made possible by the National Lottery Heritage Fund. All the plots are now closed for burials, and the cemetery as a whole is by law maintained by the City Council and managed on behalf of the parishes by the Parochial Burial Grounds Management Committee. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission maintain the graves of 33 Commonwealth service personnel from World War I and 4 from World War II.The cemetery can be accessed from Mill Road, from Norfolk Street, or through the industrial estate on Gwydir Street. In February 2014 an art work entitled Bird Stones by Gordon Young was installed in the cemetery. Its one wooden and six stone columns celebrate the bird species found in the cemetery and their birdsong.The cemetery is also listed as a City Wildlife Site, containing many indicator plant species for undisturbed neutral/calcareous grassland amongst the 110+ species identified. At least 35 species of bird, 23 species of butterflies and several species of mammal have also been reported, including the European dormouse and weasel.

St Matthew's Primary School is a 3–11 mixed community primary school in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England. It is non-denominational, and catering for 615 pupils with an affiliated after-school kids’ club. The school was established in 1963, though there have been various schools on the site since 1836. It is a feeder school for Parkside Community College.

Mill Road is a street in southeast Cambridge, England. It runs southeast from near to Parker's Piece, at the junction with Gonville Place, East Road, and Parkside. It crosses the main railway line and links to the city's ring road (the A1134). It passes through the wards of Petersfield and Romsey, which are divided by the railway line. It is a busy street containing many independent businesses, churches, a Hindu temple and Cambridge Central Mosque. Near the northwestern end to the south in Mortimer Road off Mill Road is Hughes Hall. Behind Hughes Hall is Fenner's, the cricket ground of the University of Cambridge, which has hosted first-class cricket since 1848. To the north is Anglia Ruskin University, formerly Cambridgeshire College of Arts and Technology (CCAT).

Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) is a public university in East Anglia, United Kingdom. Its origins are in the Cambridge School of Art, founded by William John Beamont, a Fellow of Trinity College at University of Cambridge, in 1858. It became a university in 1992, and was renamed after John Ruskin, the Oxford University professor and author, in 2005. Ruskin gave the inauguration speech of the Cambridge School of Art in 1858. It is one of the "post-1992 universities". The motto of the university is in Latin Excellentia per societatem, in English Excellence through partnership.In 2022, Anglia Ruskin had 35,195 students. ARU has five campuses across the south-eastern portion of the United Kingdom.There are four faculties of study at the university, namely: Faculty of Business and Law Faculty of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences Faculty of Health, Education, Medicine & Social Care Faculty of Science & Engineering.

Abbey House or Old Abbey House is a 17th-century house on the corner of Beche Road and Abbey Road in Abbey, Cambridge. It lies just to the east of the roundabout where Elizabeth Way and Newmarket Road meet. The house is 17th-century but perhaps containing parts of earlier date; it has two storeys with attics. The house is a Grade II listed building; the walls and archway are separately listed Grade II. It has been described as both the oldest inhabited house and the most haunted house in the city.

The Grafton centre is a covered shopping centre in the east of central Cambridge, England. It is one of the three main shopping centres in Cambridge, with Lion Yard and Grand Arcade in the city's centre. The Centre dominates Fitzroy Street and Burleigh Street. The main footprint is linear, running from east to west. It has three atria, the eastern one being the largest. The mall is laid out across two storeys with some of the shops having more than one storey too. Currently more than thirty years old, the Grafton Centre underwent a £30m refurbishment programme in 2017 after being bought by Legal & General for £99m. It has since been sold to Trinity Investment Management for £61.4m. The main retail stores include Boots, Debenhams (the largest store in the centre) and Next. It also has its own five-slot bus stop, a food court, Vue cinema and two multi-storey car parks, with capacity for 1100 vehicles.Unusually for a shopping centre of its type, the site includes a number of council flats at its western and northern edges.

Covent Garden is a street in Cambridge, England, off Mill Road and near The Kite district. The street takes its name from the London market of the same name as there used to be a market garden there.The street has one pub The Six Bells, where cricketer Israel Haggis was landlord from 1837 to 1844.

East Road is a dual-carriageway road in the east of Cambridge, England. It is designated the A603 and forms part of Cambridge's inner ring road. The southwest end of East Road is next to Parker's Piece, at the junction with Parkside, Mill Road, and Gonville Place. At the northeast end there is a roundabout that links with Elizabeth Way (part of the A1134, continuing the inner ring road north) and Newmarket Road (also part of the A1134, leading east out of the city). The Cambridge campus of Anglia Ruskin University is on East Road, north of Mill Road. The Ruskin Gallery, open to the public, is part of the Cambridge School of Art on the Anglia Ruskin University East Road campus.The Cambridge County Court is on East Road. The distinctively round Cambridge Crown Court is also on East Road, at No 83, since 2004.

The Theatre Royal was built in the Barnwell suburb of Cambridge, England, in 1816. It closed later that century but reopened as the Cambridge Festival Theatre from 1926 until 1935. The building, in which part of the interior of the theatre survives, is Grade II* listed.
