Yeoford railway station

The River Yeo is a tributary to the River Creedy. It is located in Devon, England, and its headwaters float within two miles of a different River Yeo, which is a tributary to River Taw. It is a popular location for fly fishing, with the Crediton Fly Fishing Club owning a small portion of it.Tributaries of the River Yeo include River Culvery which joins just south of Crediton, Ford Brook which joins at Neopardy, and River Troney which joins at Yeoford. The source of the river is near Merrymeet Junction on the A30 Road at Whiddon Down. Since January 1997, a flood gauge at Yeoford measures the river height, which is normally below 0.66 metres (2 ft 2 in). The site base level is 60.58 metres (198.8 ft) The highest recorded level is 2.69 metres (8 ft 10 in) on 25 November 2012.South of Crediton the River Yeo forms part of the boundary between Crediton Civil Parish and Crediton Hamlets Civil Parish. Southwest of Yeoford the River Yeo forms the boundary between Colebrook Civil Parish and Crediton Hamlets Civil Parish. Further to the southwest it forms the boundary between Hittisleigh CP and Cheriton Bishop CP.Places along the river include Downs Crediton Golf Club, Fordton Mill, Salmonhutch, Salmonhutch Caravan Park, Beare Mill, Neopardy, Yeoford, Martin's Moor Copse, Wotton's Moor Copse, Binneford, Binneford Wood, Parlepit Copse, Furzeyew Copse, Vennals Copse, Milball Copse, Ball Copse, and Treable Woods.

Crediton Hamlets is a civil parish in Mid Devon in the English county of Devon. It has a population of 1,307.

Yeoford () is a village near the town of Crediton in Devon, England. It is served by Yeoford railway station on the Exeter to Barnstaple railway line, otherwise known as the Tarka Line.

Penstone is a hamlet of some 21 houses in Devon, England, about 1 mile (2 km) from the villages of Colebrooke and Coleford, close to the point where the Exeter-Barnstaple and former Exeter-Okehampton rail lines diverge; the latter is now a freight line but there has recently been talk of reopening it to passenger traffic and extending it to Plymouth in order to avoid the shoreline track at Dawlish Warren which has recently been washed away several times by winter storms. The nearest stations are Yeoford and Copplestone. Penstone residents maintain the Penstone Glade, a community space for the hamlet in the angle of the tracks and adjacent to the River Yeo (one of many such in the southwest of England), and organise a variety of events there. Penstone is built on the south-facing slopes of the hills to the north of the river, with views to Colebrooke and Dartmoor in the distance.

Colebrooke is a village and parish in Devon, England about 8 km west of Crediton. The main point of interest is the church and the connection to Henry Kingsley's novel The Recollections of Geoffry Hamlyn. Also Uncle Tom Cobley, of the folk song, signed his will at Pascoe House, but is buried 4 miles west at Spreyton. The champion Devon wrestler, Abraham Cann was born and buried here. He won the all-comers wrestling crown in London. Colebrooke gave its name to Colebrook, Connecticut, United States.

Coleford is a small hamlet in Mid-Devon, England. It includes a pub, The New Inn with their resident parrot of over 40 years Captain, and also has a park. Coleford Junction at nearby Penstone is the place where the Tarka Line from Crediton to Barnstaple splits from the later Dartmoor line to Okehampton.

Spencer Combe in the parish of Crediton, Devon, is an historic estate. The grade II listed farmhouse known today as "Spence Combe", the remnant of a former mansion house, is situated 3 miles north-west of the town of Crediton. The arms given by Pole for Spencer of Spencer Combe, are: Argent, on a bend sable two pairs of keys or, and are shown quartered by Prideaux on the monument in Farway Church, Devon, to Sir Edmund Prideaux, 1st Baronet (died 1628) of Netherton Hall, and are shown in stained glass impaled by de Esse of Thuborough in the Thuborough Chapel of Sutcombe Church. Spencer Combe is given erroneously in several traditional historical sources as the seat of Sir Robert Spencer (d.pre-1510) who married Eleanor Beaufort (1431–1501), the daughter and eventual heiress of Edmund Beaufort, 2nd Duke of Somerset (1406–1455).

Copplestone (anciently Copelaston, Coplestone etc.) is a village, former manor and civil parish in Mid Devon in the English county of Devon. It is not an ecclesiastical parish as it has no church of its own, which reflects its status as a relatively recent settlement which grew up around the ancient "Copleston Cross" (see below) that stands at the junction of the three ancient ecclesiastical parishes of Colebrooke, Crediton and Down St Mary.The small parish is surrounded clockwise from the north by the parishes of Sandford, Crediton Hamlets, Colebrooke, Clannaborough, and Down St Mary. According to the 2001 census the parish had a population of 894, increasing to 1,253 in 2011. It is situated right in the middle of Devon halfway between Exeter and Barnstaple on the A377, nestled in a valley. Copplestone is a major part of the Yeo electoral ward whose total ward population was 3,488 at the above census.The Tarka Line railway goes through the middle of the village and calls at Copplestone railway station. Copplestone is surrounded by hills and is not far from Dartmoor, visible to the east and Exmoor to the north, a little farther away. The surrounding countryside has been used for agriculture from before Roman occupation of the area.

Posbury is an ancient estate in Devon, now a hamlet, situated about 2 miles south-west of Crediton and 2 miles north of Tedburn St Mary and 1 mile west of the small hamlet of Venny Tedburn.

Newbuildings (less frequently New Buildings) is a hamlet in the civil parish of Sandford, in the Mid Devon district of Devon, England. It is located approximately 3 miles (4.8 km) northwest of Crediton. There is a local church, Beacon Church, providing regular services. Newbuildings is served by the Dartline 369 bus route between Morchard Bishop and Exeter. A postbox in the hamlet is collected daily by Royal Mail. A BT telephone box was repurposed to contain an emergency defibrillator in 2021, with funding from a local charity.

Cheriton Bishop is a village and civil parish situated on the northern borders of Dartmoor National park between Exeter and Okehampton, in Devon, England. The population at the 2011 Census was 652. The history of the settlement can be traced back over a thousand years when the old village centre was established as a commercial centre for the local farming community.
